Ooh, this one is a bit of memory trip, very cool analysis! A little correction: this is actually a Nature faction theme (There are several factions in the game like Death, Life, Order, Chaos, Nature etc.) rather than an overworld theme. Think a fantasy village full of trees, elves, fairies, unicorns and other magical creatures. The overworld themes in this game are great and memorable too, I can still hum the Sea theme off the top of my head.
God this makes me hope for the Heroes III soubdtrack review so frickin baaaaad. Stillthanks for a video on one of my favorite game franchises in the world!!
HOMM3 soundtracks are very short, because they were made to loop fast (city themes, though the overworld themes are longer), but some compilation of these would be absolutely glorious. I love the wondrous, creepy and/or mystical nature of these OSTs
the background story of "sadness" you say fits pretty well, as basically, in part three, the planet was destroyed, and most of the creatures (life-affiliated) jumped through portals, huddled together and stuck together for survival. the sadness comes from the pretty world that was destroyed, and even though they are save now, they lost basically everything.
Wow! 😮 That game was part of my childhood and I really enjoyed it despite others saying that it's not as good as HMM3. Such an mind-blowing performance. The 2nd and the 4th games of the HoMM series are really special in their focus on operatic vocals, but the 3rd one is quite different: it's a small but also very competent symphonic journey (even though I'm pretty sure most of it are just really high quality samples) with no vocals. The town themes in it are so incredibly vivid and colorful that they are pretty much inseparable from their respective factions's unique identities. Necropolis has so much agony and pain in it without sounding "horror" in a cliche way, "the great open wilderness" that the Stronghold theme projects, the majestic soaring strings of the Tower theme and ominous and thunderous sound of their underground counterpart, the Dungeon faction... There's nothing like it to this day.
HoMM2-4 OSTs are my childhoods OST) Also i still in awe of live performances at Poland's Heroes Orchestra and Russian CAGMO together with original composer of those soundtracks. You can check those on youtube, you can see how performers are happy to perform those tracks

People can call this the worst Heroes game, but soundtrack is on another level. A pure masterpiece and one of favourite soundtrack on a par with Transistor.
The Romero OSTs for the Heroes series are incredible, and you might be able to get him to collab on a video - he was willing to do a bit even with Sszeth, after all
Great video, also of note, the other reaction video you did of the Sorceress theme from the 2nd game (1996), the singer was also Karin Mushegain, who was still just a teenager at the time. She also sung other pieces in that game (Knight, Barbarian 'Opera' and both Sorceress themes), as well as this piece and 'Chaos' from the 4th game, and finally 'Haven' from the 5th game, in case you wanna track them down.
Homm4 soundtrack is magnificent overall, you definitely could listen to some of that's greatness. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to it. Personal suggestions are both Chaos and Order themes.
Great video, I would love if you can cover the other soundtracks of Heroes of Might & Magic IV! Truly one of the best works by Paul Romero and Rob King
I would recommend Hope (dirt theme). Also from Heroes of Might and Magic 4. Tbh, All music from Heroes4 are the best. You never get tired listen to them.

HOMM3 is a game I've been playing on and off for 15 years now. The music in it gets my feels everytime, so good! Would love for you to take a listen at it
Oh my goodness, I LOVE when people try out or listen to music from absolute classics. This video opened up the whole Pandora's Box (heeehee ;) ) of memories for me. HOMM games were my childhood and I've always loved the vibe Paul Romero's music have. I recommend checking out the HOMM3 soundtrack as a whole (though it doesn't have human singing unfortunately), but if that's too much, I suggest some Town themes, especially ''Fortress theme'' that captures the wonder and reptile nature of the town (It's quite literally full of lizardmen and reptile creatures, located on a great swamp.), and ''Necropolis'' & ''Inferno'' themes that both captures two different types of evil vibe, one reminds me of a dance with death and the other is a more classic approach to diabolical beings. If you are more interested in Paul Romero's take on nature, the ''Grass'', ''Lava'', ''Rough''(a rock desert with little life, very dry climate, almost sounds like someone's life slipping away, like you are on the last drop of water, yet other life goes on) and ''Snow'' themes capture nature in a beautiful way. I've never thought you can express the temperature and surroundings with music, but these are the perfect examples of that. Great video as always!
The soundtrack of Heroes 4 has helped me through some of the toughest times of my life in my 20s. Pretty sure would not be where I am today if it wasn't for all of these exceptional tracks.
Oh man, I haven't played Homm4 that much, and I didn't know what to expect going into this video, but as soon as I heard vocals come in, memories instantly flooded my brain. I knew it was Nature's theme, I knew how the song went, to my surprise I rememberd so much in a second. That's the power of the music right there
loved it, there's like 6 factions in homm4 (life, death, order, chaos, nature, barbarians...) and each has their own music while you are in that faction's city screen making units/buildings.. then there is a few for when you're outside making move on map (grass, sea, snow..) and some for battles and 1 song for end turn (watching enemy move)
While Heroes 4 is ok, the Heroes 3 will always be the defacto best soundtrack of the entire franchise. Necropolis, Fortress, Inferno, Stronghold being the heavy hitters of all (These game are literally my childhood so I'm beyond ecstatic that these are getting some love, blessed be the soundtracks of the pre 00s)
Myyyyyy childhood! Got flashback of happily collecting gold for my town, then suddenly the computer comes around the corner and wooops my ass ;_; ptsd to the max.
it’s been 3-4 freaking days since I went and picked HoMM 4 up again just becuse of this video, and it still creeps me when the duo part starts… thanks for the nostalgia and Order is supreme!
Just a quick note, that it's not an overworld theme, it's a town theme. Also, wanted to say, that there is a lot of people mentioning 3, 4 and 5 chapters of the game, but there is actually a lot of great opera-like singing in part 2 of that series. And, what i find pretty cool, is that somtetimes it includes real-world pieces of text on german or latin, like in this themes: ua-cam.com/video/GzuCcyl6cfo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wrp1hEtU0ys/v-deo.html
The "sadness" part can by explain by the lore game. In Heroes 4 we are in a new world called Axeoth. The old one (Heroes 3) world was destroyed. The kingdom of Avlee (Elves) has suffer the most, lossing most of it's populations, losign Ents, Green/Gold Dragons, pegasus. Old allies like Centaurs and dwarves has abandon them + the new kingdom of elves (Aranorn) is in civil war. So.. for the elves came hard times in this new world.

there is a christmas song whose name escapes me (I think it was sung by Charlotte Church) but it sounds very similar to the non-solo parts of this song which keeps catching me off guard because I keep expecting it to resolve differently.... Either way, they really did a lot of good work on this song and it turned out great
The might and magic series also has great music. Its more meandering but heroes 6 and 7 especially have some really wonderful pieces. Romero and king know their onions.
man if this soundtrack dont convince you to play heroes4 then nothing can. Heroes 4 have one OF THE BEST music soundtracks in game each city and even music on adventure map is sooooooo godly u need to hear and react to each other soundtrack!
Personally, out of all the HoM&M tracks I know, I'd recommend Tower, Stronghold and Ramparts (III), Hope and Floating across water (both IV) and the "Sylvan" theme (V). The third installment was the top all-rounder, the fourth one had the best music (well, individual pieces - anyway) and the fifth one kept the music quality, buffed my favourite faction (Necropolis) with new archer units, yet lost out on the artstyle as it turned to generic WoW-like fantasy instead of keeping it medieval-lite. For react recommendations, I'd have *Izaro and Grand Arena* themes from _Path of Exile_ Other game music I could recommend (though not really as a react content - more so as relaxing pieces, I guess) - The Settlers IV, though it's not so much of a "serious" game and Port Royale 2. Both games have some pleasant soundtracks - really helps one "feel" into the game. Legenda: Poselství trůnu 2 is pretty much an unknown game, yet I'd value hearing your opinion of it's soundtrack.
HoMMIV is very underated, imho have perhaps the best OST of all the games in the series. There is a lot of good songs that I recommend you checking out, mostly from HoMM 2/4, those are more opera focused. Many town themes in the 2nd game are fantastic.
I love your videos and I’m begging you to listen to the Hyperion Boss fight music for the game Returnal. It has to be the most impactful song in the game for reasons you can explore for yourself if interested. Keep up the good work!
HoMM 4 original soundtrack is most underrated in industry due to unsuccess of a game. But it's charisma is blasting. Please, look also at Life\Castle theme. Basically every race theme is pure charisma and talent.
Hey Marco! You simply MUST try Heroes of Might and Magic 5 soundtrack! It is amazing and while it has some "generic" battle tracks the factional city sountracks and some of the more race specific OSTs are phenomenal. Hell, the Order faction has straight up religious hymns playing as their city music, and undead have the same... but reversed and remixed into creaking, shrilling version.
Maybe this music is sad because of tth Lore of Heroes 4. In previous game all the Enroth planet was destroyed and all the creatures just being teleported to new unknown planet called Axioth. It`s not their homeworld, and it`s full of unknown dangers.
Please react to more music from Heroes of Might and Magic! Paul Anthony Romero has composed timeless classics that can be appreciated by both gamers and music practitioners!

For react recommendations, I'd have *Izaro and Grand Arena* themes from _Path of Exile_
Other game music I could recommend (though not really as a react content - more so as relaxing pieces, I guess) - The Settlers IV, though it's not so much of a "serious" game and Port Royale 2. Both games have some pleasant soundtracks - really helps one "feel" into the game.
Legenda: Poselství trůnu 2 is pretty much an unknown game, yet I'd value hearing your opinion of it's soundtrack.
Hey homm4 life and homm4 chaos are also pretty stellar songs.
yay, heroes have lot of good music
Best music from the Heroes series is Haven's theme from Heroes 5 :D
Oh yeah, dat game has a wonderful musics.
If you like this, check the Asylum theme from the same game. It's amazing.
Hell, the Order faction has straight up religious hymns playing as their city music, and undead have the same... but reversed and remixed into creaking, shrilling version.
the HOMM4 soundtrack (and HOMM series in general) is full of bangers. HOMM2 and HOMM4 are the highlights if you don't have time.
Maybe this music is sad because of tth Lore of Heroes 4. In previous game all the Enroth planet was destroyed and all the creatures just being teleported to new unknown planet called Axioth. It`s not their homeworld, and it`s full of unknown dangers.
My childhood
Please react to more music from Heroes of Might and Magic! Paul Anthony Romero has composed timeless classics that can be appreciated by both gamers and music practitioners!
