This guy's taking Roy off the grid!!!!!!! ROY, what a bad-a**!!!!! I miss my grandparents and my great uncle, and I also miss their war stories (most of them sad, but boy did they sound like they were super human.) I swear, when I'm overwhelmed, I just tell myself, "Pawpaw fought in WW2 and Arthur fought in Korea and Vietnam." And it shuts me up and calms me down. What a bunch of amazing people.
Roy was an unbelievably brave man...selfless to the extreme. His courage was such that I got choked up listening to this story. Thank you, MrBallen, for telling us the story of this amazing American soldier.

Seeing Roy's statement makes me cry. It's a good cry because there are ppl like him among us. Not a whole lot of them, but they're out there...fantastic movie-like heroes.
Wow! That Roy Benavetaz(?) Story literally brought tears to my eyes and shivers so much that I had to pull over, pause the video & take a screenshot of this unbelievable superhero!! My father spent four years in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, both tours were back to back and voluntary! So he did his two years and when it was time for him to go home he said "F**K NO! This is what we sign up for!" And he stayed for another two years and only came back because the war was "over" and everyone was coming back! I could see my father doing something like this! He is in his 70's now and in 2003 when Operation shock and awe began and the first boots were starting to land in the sand (my husband's included) he hung a huge sticker on his door that said "Send me over! I'm ready to fight for our freedom!" And it's still hanging there today! I apologize I'm not trying to make this about myself my father or my husband! I just wanted to add that in there. I really just want to give my utmost respect and gratitude to this beyond brave man! He deserved the congregational metal of honor and any and all other awards the service has to offer! I want to thank him his family and all of the brave men and women who answer the call and literally lay their lives on the line for our freedom! Without them we wouldn't be here! And also to their families. It's very hard watching your soldier leave for another tour over and over again. I'm not sure if this man is still alive today because like I said..I paused the video and pulled the car over to write this and take a screenshot of this wonderful beyond brave man! I salute this man and Thank him for his MANY MANY sacrifices!! He is a real life super hero 💪
I literally got shivers along my spine and cried when I heard the story of Roy. This is extremely rare. I can get shivers from an emotional song but from a story of bravery? Roy, words don't cut the level of hononur and bravery involved here. In Roy's speech, he deflected the word 'hero' off himself, but you're a hero Roy.
Roy's speech is amazing as well, you should check it out. If you really want to feel those shivers you should check out President Reagan's speech called A Soldier's Pledge.
The story about Roy is exactly what defines us as Americans, especially the heroes that have signed up to serve this nation. Thank you for the story of a great man.... he earned his recognition and he decided to use his demons for the good the day he decided to save those fellow soldiers.
Roy was amazing. If I didn't know that this story was true, I would think it was from a movie or tv show. How he could endure all those injuries and have the strength to pull his fellow wounded soldiers is just amazing. I can only guess that he cared so much about his fellow soldiers that he just focused on saving their lives.
Just as an update because I had heard of this tragedy before Mr. B. The city if Cincinnati awarded the family 6m and ordered the Cincinnati 911 to make changea, which they are. It's called a "lock out tag out" system, it's designed so this sort of thing never happened. I totally agree with you both .
Roy is royalty!!! RIP ROY, hero is too common of a name and doesn’t hold strong to what you did! ❤
Roosevelt was a bad ass man!
We need Men like him in office today.
