Roy's 50 questions with Gary Neville is worth a watch. Comes across great in it.
Eamon Dunphy is a man paid to give an opinion. He always delivers. Whether one agrees with him or not he is ALWAYS worth a listen.
Your not so why do feel you have to give yours
@@eamonnashe7272 1) It's "You're" NOT 'your' 2) I AM actually paid to have an opinion, but in this case, I've given it for free, in the form of a comment, in the errrr? comments section. 3) You should ease up on those lemon's you're sucking, it's not doing you much good.
Usually an informed opinion,
Really? I just think he is a tosser.
@@braindonor8753 I was referring to Keane not Dunphy.
Great stuff. Giles n Dunphy no longer doin RTE games is painful...greatness to blandness
Very true. Duff and Sadlier are just not the as good
I agree its not the same without dunphy n Giles. I used to love watching midweek champions league games . Now rte show one game on a Tuesday they don't even show the highlights of the other games whats up with that ? A new director of sport took over rte sports programmes . No offence shes a female but our sport coverage has gone down hill since .
I like duff tho he's way better than sadlier
Man the punditry on RTÉ has always been bland 🤦♂️
@@Ooth9999 Really in comparison to what? Them across the water calling every other bang average English player a top top top player and only criticizing foreigners? Whatever floats your boat.
Bit harsh on Forest. When Keane went to them they were more than decent and had big reputation still, under clough
I remember a revealing moment in that brilliant insightful Gabriel Clarke doc in which Keane and Viera picked their best Man U and Arsenal teams respectively. It was when Keane revealed that what pushed him was FEAR, not as in scaring the opposition but within himself, the fear of losing is what drove him, whereas Viera had a different outlook, the joy of winning.
Thank you guys
great stuff!
Off the ball will criticise Roy until he's beside them in person and they're in awe of him . Wouldn't let poor Gary Neville speak lol
Dunphy ghost wrote Keane’s first autobiography & fun fact when asked during the trial if Keane had purposely tackled Haaland, Dunphys response was “without a doubt.” It’s no wonder the feeling is not mutual what does the guy expect 🤷♂️
Saipan was 19 years ago now. People seem to think this is a defining moment in roys career. The trophies he won at united was the defining moments in his career. He simply stood up for what was right in Saipan. Hes a leader. Leaders have such high standards and they aim to try get players as close to there level as possible. Instead of dragging up saipan give the man credit for what he achieved in both ireland and united shirts. From a Lfc fan
Yeah what a leader! Leaving his country days before the biggest moment of their international career over a bobbly pitch. Hell of a leader 🙄
Utter nonsense . Keane was a pisshead at the time , didn’t want to be there for a long time .
He didn’t like not getting the fancy seats on the plane going to Japan and made to wear a tracksuit and be stuck with journalists (fair complaint )
He was right to whinge about Saipan IF it was the plan that they would train there. It wasn’t the plan. The plan was to get them together for rest and relaxation and a few pints after a long club season. England did the same as did many national teams .
He broke to code by running to the press . Mick had a right to call him out but he should have done it privately and not before the team. Keane couldn’t tolerate Mick or be held to account
Keane behaved precisely the same way in a Portugal during a pre season with United . Found any reason to kick off- there it was the accommodation given to him . Fergie had enough at this point and waited to get rid of them .
He was content to go back to the FAI when he became assistant manager and caused trouble there
very bad captain of Ireland. no respect for his team manager. a loon looking for a dispute. as captain of Man U, he had to be captain of Ireland. Like Nastase the tennis player , two greats with both of them unhinged .
Roy was true world class, ie: when he played he would have got in any domestic or national team in the world.
Exactly and after a while he seen Eamon for what he was (a spoofer) so cut all ties with him. Hence why they no longer speak.
Roy Keane one of the top 3 players ever to wear that iconic Red Shirt
Love Keano but sorry Edwards, Charlton, Law, Best, Robson, Cantona, Scholes and Ronaldo have a much better case for the top 3 to wear our iconic shirt!
@@cleehomes Those players had more skill, but Keane was certainly far more important than most on that list. At his best, United's results suffered when he was out of the side in the way they did when Cantona was injured or banned. He was the best captain United ever had.
Charlton Keane Best top 3
I miss Eamon so much on rte
yeah, spoofers on the pitch and in the studio now.
We all do its rubbish mostly on RTE now
The man was an embarrassment and knows nothing about football. Telling people Ronaldo would not make it in the game. It became comedy gold only after a while the laughs wore off. After Ronaldo won several trophies Eamon no longer wanted to mention his name because of his embarrassment. When Ronaldo came on for post match interviews. Eamon just did not want to be there anymore and could see Ronaldo's success effected him badly.
@@alibabashero To be fair, he made a judgement on Ronaldo based on his attitude when he was a young player. He wasnt to know, nor was anyone outside the club, that Ronaldo would be the most hardworking, driven footballer to ever play the game and would go on to improve massively every year
He made these comments repeatedly while Ronaldo was scoring goals week after week and it became awkward for eamon to provide any further comments that he began laughing at himself as bill would ask him how he thought ronaldo performed and about his comments for not recognising how talented he was as everyone else could clearly see from his first game. Eamon was made to eat his words of course.
Great chat with Eamo …..well done guys
I'd listen to Dunphy for hours, proper old school pundit, always interesting. Should still be on RTE with Giles.
Great to see Eamon is, Wry! Keen! I'll get me coat ...
Being a Leeds supporting Yorkshireman that's visited Ireland a couple of times' (but not yet Cork) maybe I see a number of comparisons between Keane/Ireland and it's people's perception of them and Cork with the people of Yorkshire and it's cricketing complex characters of the past.
Cork has been responsible for a large percentage of Ireland's Olympic medals in the last century, so it has that in common with Yorkshire and GB.
@@TheLastAngryMan01, the man who brought the British empire down on its knees, on a bicycle, was a Cork man too!
The Rebel County!
Just living in Cork, from Mayo. I'd say there is certainly no negative perception of Cork people from people outside of Cork. I think people outside of Cork (specifically the rest of Ireland not including Dublin, will get to Dublin in a minute) think a lot of driven people seem to come from there, and there's just more confidence in Cork people, relative to rest of country outside of Dublin, and maybe more of a tendency towards the extreme end in some, than the average Irish person too, living up to the rebel county etc. Personally found Cork people to be very friendly, welcoming, with a lot of go. I think this perception, if there is one, comes from the Dublin-Cork thing, Cork being the 'real capital', and Dublin tending to look down at the rest of the country, including Cork, as Not-Dublin, and the rest of the country tending to look as Dublin as overly corporate, dismissive of or indifferent to the rest of the country, unfriendly to outsiders, impersonal, feeling more like a large European city, and large parts of it feeling un-Irish in some ways. Massive generalisations of course, but those are the general perceptions (not necessarily the facts!). The superiority complex thing gets bandied about a lot, I'm not so sure I've seen that, definitely seen it more in Dublin (in a nasty kind of way) and Kerry (in a much nicer way) people than in Cork people to be honest! Sometimes there is a real sense of wanting to prove yourself, and to do well to spite maybe, more the underdog, more we'll show the f**cking dubs etc kind of thing, sometimes a chip on the shoulder, but I have not seen an abnormal amount of arrogance or or a superiority complex. More, "best of luck but we're going to win". For me that is more self belief and I've seen no evidence of more/less arrogance than rest of the country (Dublin being the exception)
@@SavoPaddy Of course we're confident. Why wouldn't we be?
Good interview.
Superb interview great listen
Very engaging interview. Impressive insights from Mr Dunphy.
Lots of people dislike Eamon. It's not a crime.
That was awesome.
Great piece guy. Eamon was very fair in his words.
No he wasn't. Lmao! The man made a good living coming out with ridiculous and controversial statements every week like Ronaldo would never make it in the game and so on. Lmao. Some say Ronaldo is one of the best players to have ever played the game. Just dont ask Eamon. Lmao!
Great! Missing The Stand while Eamo is sunning himself!
Unreal interview super stuff
My memories of Eamon Dunphy, Johnny Giles & Liam Brady (and Bill "Okey Dokey... And we're back" O'Herlihy) when I lived in Ireland was how just before half-time of any match, people would be heading to queue for the loo so that we wouldn't miss any of the pundit analysis. The TV would be turned up as we listened in hushed reverance.
Great story about people rushing to the bog, early. 🙂
Where you from?
@@alibabashero tired and emotional I believe
From a rangers fan Keane would be first player in a all time premier league 11
old rangers that stole off everybody and went bust and where subsequently liquidated , or RIFC , THE PHOENIX CLUB
Went to Ibrox to see him at Celtic. Sat two seats in front of Rooney and Molby. Poor Barry Ferguson had an eye opening experience that day.
@@giruy4355 pathetic comment
How can you say on one hand if Keane had stayed in Saipan he could've got ROI to the finals of the WC, but on the other say he was critically injured? 🤣
" he was the runt of a boxing family from Cork " Pele
Dunphy and giles should have had/have there own show....like saint(R.I.P) and greavsie. Eamon is a legend, john too.
They do have own show the stand
Only difference was that Saint and Greavesie like John Giles were top players Eamo was a classic lower league journeyman who never stood up or stood out in his ROI career
Christ he loves telling that overmars story
Most of the irish players that were coached by keane speak highly of him check your facts Eamon
My first world cup was 86 I've seen all the greats since then keane would be my captain of the greatest team from 86 until now end of
Very fair interview from dunphy. I always find the OTB lads very anti keane. But hey thats just me.
Fantastic
Hes 50 lads hes not dead why the tributes
because Keane means clicks
Keane good-looking LoL 😂
Dunphy aint one to be agreeing Keane is "thin skinned", he walked out as pundit on RTE's '86 world cup coverage after a Dermot Morgan skit on him.
It was 35 years ago mate...people change

Very good interview with Dunphy but why no mention of Keane's fall out with Fergie , surely of interest to us as to Eamon's take on it.
Good morning I'm fine.
Love Eamonn Dunphy.
To be fair Eamon you did go to the court and carried on like it was life in jail or the death pelanty when it was just a football player being brought up for what happened on a football pitch.
Eamon Dunphy is brillance personified, just love listening to him, its not the same listening to games without Eamon, , be cool to have Eamon and Roy together, I changed channels when John and Eamon left, its not the same RTE is run by idiots
Interviewers are a bit rough on Roy to be fair. They love Jon Walters more than life itself. Same as the interview with Roy and Nev. Jon Walters and Roy injury situations are pretty different. Eamon describes him fairly well, but still a little tough on him.
that's funny,15 years ago, dunphy said roy keane was the greatest player in the history of the club
Eamon also said Ronaldo was a fraud and would never make it in the game. Some people get paid lots of money to talk tosh I guess.
keane said he was invoved with irish teams since the age of 14...
He did a FAS course that was really tough 🙄😂
ah hold on.
you've jumped over the fence baby.
Hasbeen. Why are you even interviewing him.
Eamon Dunphy - "He stands in the Pantheon of the greatest footballers to have played football..... anywhere!"
Roy Keane - "That was my job"
He definitely wasn’t though, one of the greatest Irish players yes but of all time Your having a laugh
Statement is accurate. Greatest player in the world at his peak
I don't think Roy likes Eamon. Definitely not from his second book. He says Eamon criticised him as a witness in court
You won't see a player at United like him in a long time. He's god in my house along with Cantona
Is it crazy to suggest that Rice and Grealish experienced Keane up close and personal and that played a role in them wanting to switch?
Rangda Rangda. It’s pure nonsense. It just fits in nicely with Dunphy’s agenda of always wanting someone to blame. It’s what he does basically. It’s one of his selling points.
This interview says more about Dunphy than it does about Keane. Eamon comes across as a man who says what he sees and Roy says what he feels. That’s the problem with Roy Keane. There are times when he’s wrong but the heart will always rule his head. Eamon has become more measured and the fact he heaps praise upon Roy speaks volumes.
So cringe comment
Perfect intro, "Roy Keane turns 50 today and it's caused a massive outpouring of..............content"
Roy omg " He stormed my wedding "
Bonio is a dog biscuit and Roy is a strong straight man
Eammon always sounds as if he has drank a few shandies, even at 9 in the morning
I'd still want next to me middle of the park
I was finished with motor mouth millionaire Bono when he became a tax exile, paying their tax to the Dutch. U2 got assistance, tax breaks and the like when they were starting out and that is how they behave.
They also gave millions to young irish muscians and brought alot of tourism to ireland especially americans just to play devils advocate
Tax exile living in Dublin 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bono loves playing the champion of things like censorship but he's made hundreds of millions from his investment in fakebook and has been strangely silent about their censorship (and that of big tech in general).
Keane as a footballer was my idol, but i think he is definitely a media man he is badgered and the Saipan thing is played out,
I love Johnny Giles, but that hyperbole by eamonn at the end, was frankly absurd.
OK! this is a "Documentary"
Dunphy the goat
What's blanked out to dunphy's right?
its a shadow of a lamp
Shadow of a lamp
I still recall Eamon's weekly expert analysis on telling people daily that Ronaldo would never make it in the game and he was a fraud and so on and so on. Not sure how many trophies Ronaldo has now. How Eamon ever made it as a football expert is highly dubious. Perhaps his links in rte helped him there.
Eh no eamon was not on fox news or your favourite cnn Kevin? Ah I see Its Kevin the loser who spends all day on cnn and attempts to claim everyone else is on Fox news? Carry on stalking people Kevin. Unfortunately for you Kevin, Ad hominem attacks on how many subscriptions I have will not change the facts of what Eamon continously claimed over each week on Ronaldo. Maybe address that than trying to stalk people.
Why did you delete your previous comments Kevin? Is it..you don't like facts or even deny that Eamon made these comments on Ronaldo several times? A bit of a weak response Kevin is to try to bring up fake subscriptions? Are you a bit of stalker Kevin? Lmao!

Maybe it’s time you stopped trying to stay relevant off his back then. Just a thought.
Eamon 'very great' is grammatically incorrect.
Ger is such a gamma dog.
keane is many things good and bad but particularly thi skinned?? He never feels the need to reply in public about most things, Id say he was particularly THICK skinned. he doesnt seem to care much what others think at all is my take.

It's been 19 years and we're still making excuses for him. He walked out on his country when we needed him most. Let it go lads .
Absolutely well said.
Roy has moved on. Sadly there is still bitterness left by some folk.
A FAS course was very tough, 😂😂😂😂😂😂 get a grip Dunphy
Eaman always tried to stay relevant based on the back of other people's careers. Was a very avg footballer himself and more famous for being outspoken and a complete wally.
Before there is universal acceptance that Roy Keane was a great player, people ought to think about what might have happened if he had been paid back in kind in return for 'making his presence felt' early on in a match. Underneath, the man was a thug on the football field.
Get the boat. You've obviously never met any 'thugs'.
he did toe the line, but he was a bloody good footballer

You have never listened to his podcast then. He calls himself a west Brit for a start! He has billy Hutchinson on regularly and never once pushed back on him. 95% of the time he fully agrees with him and sometimes even goes further than billy beyond partisan lines. He has Eamon McCann on who is the closest thing to the opposing point of view. McCann who is no republican has to regularly remind Dunphy what the British army and loyalists were up to.

What he did in Saipan was the equivalent of a star inter county player leaving the morning of a first ever county final because he wasn’t happy with the preparations and nobody will ever tell me different
Yes, well i think that’s right….
Completely different sport as everyone well knows. To try make a comparison when he was clearly highlighting the clear corruption in a completely diffferent sport altogether to what you're comparing to would be like comparing apples with oranges. Keane stands by his decision so it would be a bit much to say he should go somewhere and play in conditions that were unprofessional and inadequate to the standards he was accustomed to would be very unfair He really opened everyone eyes to the corruption that was going on for years in a completely different sport.
If you look at Roys career he prepared beyond the limits and when he hit the pitch he gave 120% and expected the same from all around him & im not a major Roy fan. I dont believe he intended leaving, the row blew up to the point he couldnt stay in Saipan & I do see your dissappointment with the outcome.
How many other players have walked out of world cups of the eve of the tournament? He was the only player from that squad to do it yet you’re giving him the benefit of the doubt ?
No mention of Roys vicious and cowardly assault on Alfie haarland (that he’d planned for a year) and then profiting from it in the book when he should of been serving a year inside, disgusting whitewash.
