I miss my 86 Dual Range. Dad bought 2 of them along with 2 250 trail boss for Mom & Brother that where Polaris’s first year for quads. They where all new & we got them on Halloween running around the yard handing out candy. Mom’s had a plow & I hated it even with chains on. Got a plow for mine & I didn’t need chains. It was like a mini tank & I would surprise people where I could take it. The best feature about it was those racks & I have hauled Deer with it along with a passenger. Dad kept his & sold the rest. Then I bought the Honda Rubicon when it first came out in 2000 because I liked automatic to climb & shifting gears to go down hill. The Rubicon has both & I still have the original drum brake because I don’t use the brakes much & use engine braking. Then eventually Dad sold his to a neighbor & he said he would sell it back if I wanted it. Fun fact go watch Ernest Goes to Camp. There’s a 230 Dual Range in it.
I have 3 of these bikes here in Australia I use on my farm they are still one of the best atv after nearly 30 years old been slowly rebuilding mine now for a few years
Nice explanation, i just bought one like it, i wonder do you know where i can get those rubber holder on the back of those two cases ( at 4:08) time of your video?
I have an 85 LT230GE (G-shaft drive E- Quadrunner semi auto electric start) but no Dual Range. Was the dual range an 86 thing? Is it still just a LT230GE or was there another number? I've heard of a LT230GEG or GEF, is that this? NICE looking quad!
I have 3 LT-230GEF we didn’t get this one here we got the LT-250 as the low ranger here the key to the different models is the colour of the stickers blue was the low range and the red/orange was not
I have one exactly like this and I can not find the fuse box I put jumper cables on wrong and it blew a fuse I need some help and there is only a few videos on UA-cam about these atvs. Thanks in advance if you could help.
I bought one for $225 had to do some work on it. fix the seat and change the oil. Later had to put a new shaft in the back it was used on the farm for hauling heavy heavy pipe irrigating may take a lot of abuse. Unfortunately the old plastic fenders got so dry and cracked broke off. I had had patched them. plastic was just too brittle just about impossible to kill.

Should be behind the battery, pain to get to without removing the plasics..also should be a relay behind the tail light
So weird. Where your Dual Range lever/knob is, is where my choke knob is.
how much fuel does it takes per 100kilometers?
2.3gl I believe

I own one of these its a 230 shaft its beat best for parts bike. What “dual range” even exactly do? Is it a diff lock?!
I think the dual range is just a low gearing. I never tried it.
So much more HP in low
Just bought one of these 88 modle
They are great ATVs, they can get through a lot of tough trails 👍
I have one as well....they are a beast...got mine a year ago and let me tell you they can be loaded up and pull alot of weight. Great bike
I had 2 of them
