The yard stick against which all other ATV's are measured. However asking 5k for a new one is absurd - you're getting into 'might as well get a 2wd rancher' money. Finding one used in the 2-3k range is the way to go.
Oh, yeah, people work for free and the manufacturing is free too. And the shipping is free. And the dealer makes no money for set up and flooring. yeah that sucks, idiot
Yeah, I believe one of the reasons people like these so much, is due to their compact, and simplicity . Large enough for a adult, though often thought of as a beginner or youth oriented machine, but in the 80’s, and 90’s it would have been more common among adults that someone buying it for their son or daughter, while they ride a Rubicon , Grizzly or something in the bigger bore range. These machines have plenty of riding power for adults, and have advantages due to their size. They can fit in tight areas on trails that other machines won’t, or at least without scratching, and bending handlebars, getting stuck between trees. Their weight makes them much easier to free up when , and if they get stuck up. With better rear, and front tires they can be more capable
Got the es model. These machines are so capable. The only thing that I can tell that’s wrong with these is the front brakes so hard to get the air out of the lines.
Just got the call and purchased this same atv. It will go well with our 1999 model.

I like it because if I’m alone and get stuck it’s light enough to get out by myself without a winch.
They’ve had the Oil cooler since 2005
