Great. A system which is automatically biased against potentially highly capable people with autism, anxiety, other disabilities, or cultural differences.
Wonder if that chief technology officer for the company used the software on himself before getting the position.
The best way to see if a candidate applying for a job, which involves them being face to face with clients... is to interview them FACE TO FACE 🤷♂️🤦♂️
dummy that's wasting an interviewer's time when this can be done by AI without bias
HERRO at the end of the day, its not the AI the employer will be working with; ITS THE CANDIDATE.
HERRO how do you know that a biased algorithm could not be programmed into it tho?
Ironic that the HireVue spokesman wouldn't pass his own AI interview due to how he looks and his awkwardness
.
Some people are not very comfortable with the cameras but are very smart and sociable people, overtime they learn to work with camera n stuff so for this set of people this process will make it a whole lot tougher.
I've worked in face to face sales since leaving school ( not going to say when that was as I'll feel old ) and am probably one of the most confident people I know and pride myself on my conversations with people. My ability to speak with people is highlighted by my sales numbers. However, put a camera in front of me (even FaceTime and Snapchat) and I feel awkward as f*ck. So what I'm really trying to say here is... This system is a whole load of sh!t.
Denika Jackson incoporatedness will have an effect.
Basically people with Autism will be screwed? If this shit is for real they need to get out ahead and indicate how they mitigate discrimination of individuals with social idiosyncrasies as a result of a condition beyond their control.
This seems wrong and kind of unethical...
Like you can possibly be denied a job because of an app says so...
it's just a soulless device that's all it is bro
It's a sorting tool. Too many applicants to interview. This app will pick the best top 5. Then the real interview process starts. Clearly some people won't be getting any of these jobs. This tech won't be used by McDonald's any time soon. Fast food uses the "Fogging a Mirror" Interview process to differentiate the candidates.
It's a tool that allows employers to depersonalize themselves from the decision. Employers can then just be
"well so and so did not score very well, according to the app, so that provides justification for not hiring this person"
rather than
"I don't think this black guy with a weird accent and culture could fit in with the people in this company, so for the sake of maintaining a healthy social climate, I will hire this other idiot instead, who complemented me on my competence and has a perfect midwestern accent."
exactly what happened to me i gave the interview at about 1 am and within 40 45 mins i received an rejection email. So no human ever saw my interview and some AI app decided
Apps have been used to prioritize certain CVs for well over a decade now. Apps scan for key words in CVs and give a pre-rating for likely match to the job. It's not really unethical if AI is applied the same across all candidates. And besides, AI can be more accurate and pick up additional detail. More ethical than a fatigued recruiter who may be having a bad day?
Well bye bye, chance of me getting a job in the future!
Forum for Democracy lol it’s already hard enough and now the robots are judging us
Actually, the AI will give you more chance at landing on the job that you applied for... the reason is; a lot of your resume/application was discarded into trash bin in existing system because there is too much applicant for a single person to review. It is not odd to find a person who sent hundreds of application/resume before somebody noticed him, or a person who worked on minimum wage job for years while still being ignored for the 'top job' that he applied for. The AI will increase the effectiveness of applying for jobs and you should celebrate the use of these AI.
more time for rock climbing and mountain lake swimming brrrrrrr yeahhhhhhhh
@@xponen lol bullshit.
It screens out 2/3 of chosen candidates that past the bs keyword resume/cover letter application.
lol
u work here mate?
This is like a throwback to measuring people's skulls ! So what happens when someone who's had a stroke wants to apply for a job ?. Or any number of reasons why someone with issues with facial muscle control. This is like 1984 meets Bladerunner . Very worrying .
Describe in single words, only the good things that come into your mind. About your facial expressions.
Yes, because the factors this machine uses to rate a candidate is an accurate representation of what is required for the job. Absolute rubbish. Explains why theres so many idiots working at such companies. The hiring process is flawed
Skyler it's not a hiring process rather a sorting process that lists best to worst then call in people for an interview like that.. Time is very valuable they are just making it efficient.
Indeed. An interview already isn't a very accurate indication of someone's capabilities. Taking out the interactive element and the personal element isn't going to be beneficial. Because of this I don't think this algorithm will evaluate the right qualities needed for a certain position, so sorting based on this algorithm might paint the wrong picture.
@@snitox in fact it IS a hiring process (what do you think sorting is?) and if this tool introduces bias (gender/ethnic/age/etc) a company CAN be held accountable. And actually even worse... a company that uses an invalid sorting tool is only robbing themselves of excellent candidates. To dehim verveen's point, determining the validity of a tool for sorting/selecting MUST relate the measure to OTJ performance. Without criterion based validity which connects the dots between a tool like this and the right qualities that equal success on the job, a tool is merely a "convenience" that may be introducing legal risk as well as feeding decision makers with BAD advice.
They want psychopaths...so that is the two guys talking on film. The system seems to work it seems...pop in a pic of a crying elderly woman just to be sure. Yah didn't blink...perfect you are like our past engineers. ONTO THE NEXT PHASE !
Fuck That, automatism is working against humans at this point, did anyone thought this th
I had 4 hirevue interviews this week, the experience of all interviews was vague and more like a "contest" of some sort rather than an interview. If hirevue is using an AI code, they should tell us what are the features and which data was collected to train the model on, and are they using new interviews as train data, is it clearly mentioned in their policy? And even if they made a good model, who knows how well it performs on test data(our interviews ). I just want to know this because if their algorithm is making bad predictions, it is costing us our careers.
So we are giving people less chances to prove themselves?
Human laziness & stupidity led to the adoption of this technology.
This is by far the most unethical and potential bias-encouraging thing I've seen, this and Knockri's AI tool which is essentially similar in nature. It depersonalizes the process.
I'm gonna get plastic surgery before writing my resume. This's such a disgrace
Future is so dark
So racism over applicants before they are selected for a job...
So the hr wont take the blame for actually being a racist... SMart Indeed... Much Advanced, Such Unprofessional...
The CTO of HireVue would not get a job offer.
This is just the sign of a bad economy, where employers now use technology and weed out "bad" body language to find their golden goose.
I wonder how HireVue's Chief Tech Officer (Loren Larsen) scores with that funky mug?
can't wait until they have AI HR people asking the questions - to AI candidates
LOL
on a laptop - it really takes practice on how to give eye contact to a camera since most users look at the screen.... there goes my points
So some of my skepticism was averted...when I scored well on the test...
Very interesting. Especially when you have to beat the AI face algorithm, before an ATS can rate ur resume, before your behavioural questionnaire answers are analyzed. After that, i only have to pass the first and second interview before i get an offer. This sure makes hiring SO easy !!!!
It is great if it actually works as intended. It makes hiring cheaper and faster, and so more available. Right now, it is almost impossible to get an interview with a Golman or Tesla if you don't go to schools that have Goldman campus recruiting.
omgosh I am about to have an interview through this app and I am extremely nervous now
Trang Nguyen did you get the job ? 🤞🏼
I wonder what the offer was for this positive review?
rather only to speak in front of a camera, u can place a camera anonymously, just somewhere besides the interviewer, or front of an interviewee so it will be not an awkward action, or reaction to it. and later can evaluate the results
Are these for real-person interviews or for initial screenings before a superday
initial screening before a superday... this is how they cost-effectively cut down the number of applicants
@@brysonjones558pure HR and company laziness to me.
Using AI in hiring is not in its infancy, other companies like Seedlink and Pymetrics have been doing this for over 5 years. The problem with video interviews is:
A) It makes people feel awkward (i.e. therefore how accurate is it *really* if it changes a person's normative disposition)
B) Video recognition is not yet advanced enough to accomplish the things they claim.
Text is a far more accurate predictor given current technology, and the corpus of available data means you don't have to deal with a speech to text recognition issues like accents or speech irregularities. I think using AI in the area of HR is great, but this company is probably overblowing what they say they can actually do.. Everyone thinks recruiting processes are in dire need of digital transformation, but knowing me... this doesn't seem like a good tool. I know I would likely score poorly because I hate being in front of a camera. I'm not a UA-camr, so looking directly into my screen with my own face staring back at me, would just be distracting and prevent me from communicating what is on my natural mind. I hope this doesn't become a trend.
But where are the validation studies? Do you think high scores in one construct (like "confidence" as manifested by eye contact) is always related to success in every job out there?
Show me the data and I will jump on board! Tell me that one size (of personality and emotional expression) fits all jobs and I will show you the door (to the freshman level EEOC/ethical employee selection practices classroom).
Amazing tech:)
The main issue is just the position the phone is being held in.
My experience was not that bad. My company tested me with hiring software named upskillable. It was human friendly, very accurate and very easy to use.
I hope this doesn't hurt my chances of getting a job at Goldman Sachs in the future...
Rich Felony. I bet this guy got bullied alot
Reminds me of the name "Martha Focker"
"The design is very human"
What jobs even use this hiring process? It’s not swe or ib
sure, if an app says no, thats fine because If they say no to the right person, the right person will make those people sorry they listened to a computer.
I didn't realize that Business Insider was making sponsored content these days...
Ah, travajo amusante no exception! ENDE.
Discrimination through AI. Tribalism 2.0
This is actually really helpful.
Yeah suuure he scored second best. It'd be too obvious if he was number 1. But number 2 is juust enough to not be suspicious but play to the possible bias of the reporter
people are hired all the time based on how they look
This is an example of how not to use AI
I have taken and passed one of these video interviews for a well paying job. Even after I passed this test my application was not selected. The person who reviewed the candidates was a female in humans resources and surprise, surprise, the position went to a female. A.I. knows who should be selected but HR is still biased.
This future is horrible
hell na
Yes, if you use that, you aren't good enough to recruit me.
I think he would change his opinion if they rejected him 😂
Wicked Sinners.
Next stop....gattaca...
This is some Bullshit frfr
This is fundamentally WRONG on many level. You must sign away the profile created and your video interview to HIREVUE to use their service, which is mandated by the recruiter. So give away your AI generated profile and video to a 3rd party like HireVue to do what they like, OR you are out of the application process. TOTALLY AGAINST THIS MISUSE OF AI
AI is not bias-free. If the training data showed that white men usually got the job, that's who the program will prioritize.
WELL that depends on if skin color is a metric they are looking at. Based on this video they are looking at attentiveness and how often you smile, etc. Not saying that they couldn't but that so far it doesn't seem to be the case.
Jaymes Poudrier
Eh. People of different races have different facial features not just skin color
Devolution.. slave of the machine
This is literally the definition of waste. Why is it important for the ai to do this job when u just said it's important to do face to face and have people good at face to face other then when it's for hiring then you need to be a social media guru cuz u can't put on a what are you smoking? Face cuz The robot will think it means you are negative and not into stupid tech that does nothing that a human still has to okay. "AI do my job for me after all it's only face to screen not a... wait it is FACE 2 FACE holy shit I such at my job I need computer to tell me what to do now! AI how did u let me get this job?"
"cuz u can't put on a what are you smoking? Face" that is exactly what these employers are looking for. The type of people that will be attentive and personable to potential clients. If you give a "What are you smoking?" face to all of your clients then who the hell would want to work with you?! *_*
1984 it's here. I hate this world.
Yup my face can tell my intellectual, awesome fuckin stupid idea
Based on this video the guy speaking of HireVue should be fired
I am 1000th view lol
1000th view
So who wrote this software's code? God?
Whats next.... a app that will tell you who to marry based on a 1 min. video clip? Foh.
Most likely yes.
coucou les BTS
I'm a huge AI nerd and convinced it will change our lives, however this application is horrible imo... Ps. I work in HR ...
This sucks
And skin colour. lol.
Garbage!!
JK, that was sarcasm. Because nowadays, everything can be claimed as sarcasm.
I may not want this future...
idiotic invention....
more people will be jobless now
First comment!!
Stu Gotts: Well excuse me! I was just excited because I've never been first comment before! You don't know ANYTHING about me so it's very up surd to call me an idiot. Be nice to people.
David Henderson I don't mean any offence but I don't see the satisfaction of been excited to have the first comment
Eric Roc: It's just because Business Insider has over 410,000 subscribers so I found it cool.
yeah so equal employers should not be able to do this people with autism are less likely to look right at the camera
how many points just for being white?
For those who think being ugly will be a huge disadvantage to this technology, then I need to ask why did you get a psss from human interviewer? wouldnt they be more biased to your face than the machine? are you implying there are interviewers who would let the ugly interviewees to have more advantage out of sympathy?
Also, this machine is never said to be judging on ones beauty, rather it judges your ability from your face. So why are so many ugly people afraid of this machine? Do you think this your beauty is somehow correlated to your ability? if yes then we really need some study on ugly vs beautiful people because it looks like they possess totally different mindsets, simply because of having a different face.
I'm sorry! You're going to always need a human. I truly don't know if you want a computer telling you if you if you have a job or not. If you're a little nervous, but you answer all the questions perfectly? You won't get the job because you're a little nervous? I've also heard that some AI software has a big problem with race. That's some skin tones won't register, while other skin tones will register. Even in 100 years, you're still going to need a human!
Terrible
Scary
That a robot will decide on human’s life
Should be banned!!!!Immediately
Such a pathetic platform, this is not a right way to screen candidates. We humans not robots
Orwellian and unethical. Shame on you!
An absolute rubbish system that completely misses the mark.
