How do I end a live video interview? Can I just exit out of the page?
Honestly, I've been sat for three days with my interview tab open too scared to press start. If it was a call with another person, no problem at all but recording yourself is such uncomfortable
I understand Graham! I sure was uncomfortable the first time I recorded myself! But I tried to think about the opportunity and how much I wanted it, it helped me control my fear and just go all in. Im sure you can do this!! Remember everything seems hard and uncomfortable before you do them!
This is me right now omg.😭
@@humayrauddin2297 Practice with a friend...and RECORD IT! Watch and critique your practice interview recordings. Ask other to watch them too, and critique it for you. After some practice....and a few actual interviews..you will feel MUCH more confident. NOW, go after your dream jobs! You WILL be great! ALWAYS, focus on the positive! I feel like recorded video interviews are harder than in person. It’s tough sounding natural when you’re not really talking to anyone, and you get no feedback for how you’re doing. Your advice is very good!
I have bad anxiety but I feel better talking in person than over phone. I am hoping this is my first and only interview where I need to record.
I feel ya! I am not used to this new video recording situation and do much better with the old fashioned in in person interviews or even a phone interview.

I’d rather just have an in person interview, over the phone, or an actual live virtual interview. I’m not sure if I want to do this
same my guy
Same, even the thought of me having to do one of these makes me cringe so hard
@@barb6868 this is me 😰 I was trying to apply to a minimum wage job but my anxiety took over..ended up not doing it as we
They don't even look at the digital interviews. You get emailed to schedule an appointment for an in person interview only to get asked the same shit
I can’t bring myself to do it, it’s just so unnatural and each response feels completely forced. Much prefer in person interviews
These types of interviews allows companies and hiring managers to make judgements about you without the fear and worry of having to do that to you in person. Think about it. You are put in the hot seat and while you do your best to filter through your experiences to provide examples to answer their questions, the hiring manager may have already decided that they don't like you because of your appearance, your age, your gender, skin color etc... These type of platforms gives companies and hiring managers all the opportunity to make these judgements in a safe environment.
Yeah, away from any human being, great for psychopaths that can mimic the perfect employee that the company is looking for.
@@mateo3380 with all honesty, said individuals can mimic in a real life setting job interview as well. And in the same way, in a personal interview they can see all the demographic data...etc on you too...and in a normal personal setting they wouldnt react to those things at all. But most probably they would react to the content of your answers and you cant see that, which is a normal disadvantage and thats real.
Works both ways man. Little do they know when I'm getting interviewed is that I'm naked from the waist down hehehehehe
yep I feel that way all the time about jobs, I’m a black male with dreadlocks so I already instantly feel like the odds stacked against me every single time I do a interview it’s sad I have to feel like that just to work
Sadly this is true
I'm what you would consider as ugly and I just know I will never get a graduate job etc
I had a similar interview today. It was horrible. I kept messing up, and couldn’t start over. It already saved my responses.
It’s actually harder than in person interviews. There’s no person to person chemistry. It sucks
Yeah I really don't believe in this interview method at all. If I wanted to do this I would've been a drama major.

Same
Same. I always freeze up in any interview. Interviews are just really nerve racking for me.
In my last interview.. the interviewer was in his home. While I was trying to answer a tough technical question, his toddler screamed really aloud from the adjoining room. I still kept a straight face and continued focusing on the question at hand and what I was saying, rather than pausing myself... I did not even give a smile to him even if I was dying of laughter inside. I guess that might have impressed him as I actually ended up getting the offer 😂
Perfect timing lol
🤣🤣
I do the opposite. I make a joke about the situation to show I'm human and have a sense of humor, and it works for me. I entered an interview during a thunderstorm and told them I hope it isn't a sign of the job to come and they loved it. I got the job.
they better hire me after making me go through this
Job interviews are already stressful as they are.. but online makes it even harder and I've never gotten a call back after a zoom interview, because I get extremely nervous. I hope this doesn't become a thing for all companies.
So glad I’ve found your page. So so helpful. I’ve decided to take a year out of my masters program due to many unexpected life changes and I’m looking for a full time graduate role. Your videos have been so informal and helpful, thank you
One can only wonder what they do with your recorded interviews afterwards...
I like the idea of first answering questions with my phone camera as practice! Have a few video interviews this week, so this will come in handy!
We as candidate should have a professional presentation video explaining our competencies and be able to load it to the companies hiring portals so we could avoid doing the same each time. If they are interested in you then they should require a live interview so you can explain your working experience.
I really appreciate your shaped tip where you wrap up your answer by referring back to the original question.
Thanks @Annette! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
I have an interview & I’m a nervous wreck 🤦🏻♀️ wish me luck

Step 1: Avoid companies that use HireVue for hiring, unless you want AI to measure your skills.
Interesting!
The interview for me said that no AI would be used to review my interview.

I've always felt job interviews go both ways. Yes, you're trying to sell yourself and put your best foot forward but you're also sizing up the interviewer/company to get a sense if the job is really right for you. This kind of interview robs the applicant of that kind of understanding.
Slick presentation. Clear and correct length of time to keep you fully engaged. Very helpful - thank you

So happy for you Zhang!! Appreciate the comment! Good luck for next week, impress them right!
Thanks a lot sir! My last hirevue interview didn't go well but your video gave me an insight to where I might have gone wrong.
About a month ago I applied for a job at Target. I got an e-mail from them about a day or two later. I was SO excited... until I read it and saw the link for this Hirevue bullshit. I had 48 hours to submit it. I just said fuck it, gave up and didn't record anything. I hated having to pass up the opportunity, but I just can't record myself answering irrelevant questions. I prefer to be interviewed in person, face to face.
Sameee
Here after screwing up my digital interview!
I stumble over my words and mess up so much no matter how much I practice. My anxiety gets so bad and it ends up dragging everything out.. it just feels so draining and exhausting.. ☹️
I have Company. I think I won't using HireVue or any others video recording to filter candidates. I want to HIRE THE RIGHT / FIT CANDIDATES to the right position, NOT A UA-camR!
I don't think we should try to convince the bot of anything. We should just say no to that kind of dystopian BS. I just declined an interview with a big consulting company and withdrew my application when I saw that they were using Hirevue.
folks NEED jobs...I think it also is phasing out personal interaction in favor of saving money. I think zoom mtgs are fine, but not everyone is great at videos. Or they would be making $$ on youtube
@@jjones40 Exactly. I have no plans to be a Social Media star. To judge me, like I am, is unacceptable.

Very good video mate, thanks for sharing, I thought I had it covered but only had half of the things you mentioned haha. I have an interview with Qatar on Sunday

This is pretty helpful for other virtual interviews such as in MS Teams and Zoom
Thank you so much for this video! Haha that awkward ending to close a Q, fumbling for the buttons was sooo funny! Entertaining and insightful video! :)
Thank you great tips appreciated it’ can be so overwhelming.
I still like in-person or even Zoom Interview better, heck, call is good too. This is too bad, I practiced 10 times for one question and still sounded weird and looked weird. Then I realise it lacks human interaction, I want to talk to other party, experience the conversation flowing, not this…
Fortunately, many US employers are gradually switching to traditional interview methods. Very few will continue using this hirevue bs
The mistake is to even take this interview. We must just decline them. This is dystopian as fuck. If you don't participate, companies will stop doing this. We must not agree to be treated like this, but we must do it together.
Man I stay thinking this but then remember that I’m desperate and need the job
good luck getting everyone else to join with you

Just had one of these to do for the first time, and I think I bombed it. :( I was SO nervous! Idk what it is, but recording myself responding to questions from a computer just feels sooo unnatural. I feel like I did really badly, and it's a shame too because it was for a position at a company that I REALLY wanted to work at. I kind of wish I had just had a Zoom interview, or even an in-person interview instead! I prefer interviews that are more like conversations and don't make you feel so uncomfortable. :(

I hate these video interviews so much. No one is perfect when being recorded. So little mistakes being the deciding factor whether you get an income or not is the absolute worst. Often times you aren't going to get unlimited retries so if you happen to sneeze or stumble your words a little or even have to think for a moment you're screwed. And trying to please the bot before an actual person is a whole other issue. These video interviews can also lead to discrimination based on age, gender, race or even disabilities.
Very helpful, thank you.

The thing to do is refuse the video interview, go apply for a company with a human face. Do you really want to work for a company that treats people so impersonally anyway? Eventually employers will get the message, "you want good staff, start by treating them as humans".
It's not about treating people impersonally in my opinion. It's about speeding the hiring process (which can take a looooong time done manually) and hire the right people more easily and reduce risk on both ends. What will you do when other companies catch up on the benefits of video interviews and when it become the norm?
Dylan Cook not always about respect. Have you thought about proximity too? Cost of flight rates and transportation?? Sometimes people are in different continents and apply for jobs in others. You want them to go to a different continent just for an interview? Why do y’all glamorize backwardness?? How old are you?
@@_elizabethlivingWhy dose it need to be faceless? I'm happy to make a Skype style call across the world for work... and have. But these faceless interviews are pointlessly impersonal and only work well for a certain type of person.
Also, its not 'glamours' or 'backward' to want a 2 way conversation when working out if a job is worth the 4 hour technical test, just common sense.
@Robin Star This comment reeks of desperation to be heard when you have nothing to say. Again I'll reiterate, I have no issue with video interviews. I do have a problem with one-way interviews. Get over it.
It's great.....if you like interacting with yourself. It's very uncomfortable and dehumanizing.

OldSchoolHead1990 yeah I didn’t like it either. I felt stupid for some reason. I don’t like being on video and I felt like an idiot talking to myself.
@@d.n.3652 agree. Everybody not comfortable being in front of a camera. I wasn’t. It takes time to get used to that. You’re not going to become a pro off a few takes.
