I've been getting tons of messages of people saying how they are not looking forward to today, because it's my last weekly cover video for a while. So I knew I had to do something big. I asked my friend Ben if he'd let me record my final cover of the year on his land. It worked out because I feel like the setting fits the song perfectly. Not only is this song one of my most requested, I feel like it fits perfectly as the final song in the year, too.
Before you say it, no this is not fake. My friends and I lugged all my guitars down to the locations, then used an adapter to plug everything in to Ben's truck. The hardest part of all was just the carrying all four guitars to different spots. The actual recording went seamlessly, strangely enough. My acoustic guitars were even able to pick up the sounds from the brook with the noise gate on since the water was really fast and loud that day. Wish I had more time to mix since I spent the weekend at Connecticon, and edited this video on the car rides. However for the most part, I feel it's a fitting close.
Thank you guys so much for sticking around this whole year. It's been hell sometimes, but amazing more often. I cannot believe the following that what I've been doing has rallied up. Also, my 10k sub special will go up today, so look out for that. I can't believe I've made it this far, and it's going to be really weird not uploading a video on Tuesday. However, I need a break so I'm going to cool off for a bit. See you guys around and hope you have had as much fun listening to my covers as I have making them! :D

@WesMott1994 This is actually not outside my house, this is in Hampden, Massachusetts, a few towns over from mine, at my friend Ben's house. He has a lot of land and was nice enough to let me record a cover out there. :)
Nine years after the release of this video, and I still cry listening to it. I really can't explain how much emotion this game (specially this song) brings to me, but I can explain how your cover makes me cry every single time I hear it: whenever I listen to your guitar performing this cover, all memories of Young Leo trying to defeat Bowser In The Sky and achieving 120 stars burst in my mind, and I can't help but smile while tears of joy cross through my face.
That is probably my fav video of all time in UA-cam, it's beyond remarkable.

This particular cover has always stood out in my memory. Mostly for the location of the video I'm sure, but the song is great as well and has a really great correlation sentimentally with this being the end of a year recording every week.

@Jonnnyissoawesome I have an amp but it's been at a friend's house for awhile. I haven't needed it since I haven't really been playing out. I usually jam on the original song for a while until I have a decent rhythm guitar line unless there is already one in the song. Then I'll start picking out the melody notes and if it gets too insane, then I'll use a midi. The only things I used a midi for for this one was the harmony in the chorus. I felt like everything else was pretty straight forward...

Seriously though there is no song more fitting. This song has always been very special to me and I'm glad you captured the real essence of it. It's a little crazy to think I've been watching your videos for nearly a year now. I've loved seeing your growth as a musician and I think it's helped me grow as one as well.
