Neat concept, but I can't imagine opting for this when the Auto Kamado is in the same price bracket. The Masterbuilt products are just so poorly made. Heck, there's a Pit Boss griddle / pellet grill combo unit I just saw at Walmart on clearance for $500 that's twice the size of this and so much better built.
Nice video!! I also love mine! Looks like you've put a bit too much briquettes in it in the beginning. The inside of the lid is offset (thickker) and lays on top of some briquettes so it doesn't close fully. After a while this solves itself due to the burning of the briquettes. This is also the reason the lid closes properly after the cook.
Thanks for Watching Arthur! Lots of questions, not really sure what direction to go. You are researching every different type of grill / smoker except for gas. I can’t make the decision for you though. All the choices you mentioned will serve you well if used correctly
Looks like the charcoal briquette lid warped juuuuuuuuuuust a tiny little bit. I wonder if, when it cooled, it cooled a little too quickly after having heated and expanded (just a millimeter). Yeah, I think the Kingsford charcoal burns and rages., then dies quickly (cooling off quickly) as it flames out. Leaving the lid fully hot and slightly.expanded. Or, when the firebox cooled down, it cooled down faster than the cast iron lid. Which is likely most true as cast iron will hold a lot of thermal energy compared to the charcoal box side walls. They get warm...but not super searing hot like the lid.
I bought a 545 on May 6 and received it May 14 for the holiday weekend It came in defective, so I contacted masterbuild customer service, and it took a week for a response, they said they would send a Fan and then will send me a tracking # today is 6/1/2024 and still waiting. Take that into consideration when purchasing a masterbuild product. everything has to be done by e-mail no phone option. Customer service is no good.
