In other words, create a vertical timeline - scale every clip - adjust the X & Y position to your linking. Boom you're done!

@@robinskumar550 press cmd+n on your keyboard. find the "custom" option in the "video" option and add 1080 x 1920 at the "resolution". Add your clips in the new timeline. Select ALL clips and scale them from 100% to 317%, or manually drag the slider until till the top and bottom frame are filled with your image. Adjust the position of the clips ( X and Y controllers) to the right and left depending where the actions is happening in each individual clip. Boom you're done

Thanks, FCPX now has the feature to duplicate project then you can choose Spatial conform to vertical. saves a ton of time. Instagram is still going to compress those videos and I am trying to find that secret sauce with compressing it, but cannot fin the proper formula yet...

Thanks Jeffrey for the info! I wonder if why you don't prefer to export the file in master file as it creates a mp4 file instead of the m4v. Do you think It makes any difference on the quality after once it is uploaded to Instagram? I also read that 30fps is better for the video smoothness, any thoughts on that too? Thanks a lot and amazing work!
Hey so 30fps is great for smoothness. Master is a lot of space. MP4 is just the video like quick time. Instagram does decrease the value.
You don't have to scale every clip. Just clip spacial conform at the bottom and click fill.

I'm using a WD 5TB Elements Portable HDD to edit videos with Final Cut Pro. What format should the HDD be in for best performance? ExFAT?

Is there anyway to get the music they have on Instagram onto the reels you make on fcpx? Say you save the music from another reel and you want to use that?
Just get the title ad search on UA-cam and then just get the song from UA-cam
So can you do this the other way around like take vertical video and make it for UA-cam?

Nice Video, it was crisp and clear to the point , I have a little different issue, i am using ipad m1 with lumafusion .
I creat reels with added tracks that are trending on the platform, i like to sync my video to the beat.
but when i upload these video then how can i tag the original music on Instagram.
In my case it shows as if that is my original track, one of my video which went instantly viral was shot down because of improper tagging of music .

Hey thanks! I believe in the settings and before you upload you have to add in description and tag artist! But because it’s instGram they mag flag it down even if you tag! That’s unfortunate I hope you find a way to fix it.

I have a quality upload problem. Whenever I scale the videos to fit for the reels, I feel like I lose so much quality for some reason. Do you recommend editing the video at the regular project size before coping and pasting it into the reel dimensions, or should I edit the clips I have directly in the reel project size?

Does Instgram Reels support 24 frames? It looks stuttery when I upload..
They do and mine are ok.
Question, what if my video is over ten minutes long and I want to make a one minute trailer in vertical video dimensions?
( I believe instagram is now allowing one minute reels if I'm not mistaken)
You would have to do this but take the best parts of your footage for up to 1 min. When you airdrop to phone make sure you export to iPhone so the quality is good but not a lot of data for Instagram. I hope this helps man let me know.

How do you get it to be 4k so you get really good quality on IG
When you post it it will downsize it anyways. But when you start your time line you have the 4K settings but remember it will be more

@@LifeOfMikey1 ok Thats exactly what it does drop it down. But remember phones are good with 1080p just do do anything lower than that.

Why 1080 x 1920 if the video is 4k? why not vertical 4k resolution? 2160 x 3840?
Great question. Sometimes it wont let you airdrop if the file is too large. Especially when you cant really see the difference these days a 1080 will look just s good.

@@paulchase451 i would just do 1080 because must quality 1080 is good and people wont really be able to tell and most people dont have the ability to watch in 4k either.
