I agree the 10.2 platform is a great basis for whatever you want to build, scale trail truck or lcg crawler or something in-between, love the body and setup on the blazer, thanks for sharing
The 10.2 has always been one of the best “builders” platforms, in my opinion. Solid foundation for any build project. I just started a 10.2 based project this past week actually. Working on making the General Lee into a prerunner with the twin I-beam front suspension. Should be an absolute ripper by the time I’m done with it!
The 10.2 was and is a great platform, and as you stated marketplace is a great resource for picking them up… when I can afford it I’ll definitely try to score a couple more 🤙
@ Thanks! The Trx4 build turned out great. I’m really happy with it. I keep going back and forth, cannot decide between 2.2’s or 1.9’s. At least the swap is easy.
I missed these when they were new, but it reminds me a lot of the HPI Venture platform they just brought back. I have the original Venture FJCruiser and really like it for the same reasons you mentioned above. Simple to maintain is key for sure. I have a full interior TRX-4 that is just jammed with stuff. So much removal to get at anything there. -Problem I find though, is even with the fairly simple setups, I end up complicating them with all the added scale goodies and inner fenders and whatnots! 😂
I also have the venture have not really used it much, but now that they are making the kit I may have to pull it out! Trx4, vanquish, Scx10.3. All over engineered!
Glad you said this about the 10.2, I have 4 10.2 chassis' plus other brands and the 10.2 is still my go to chassis it just flat works and crawls with all the new trick chassis' etc. Love em. Thanks
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Axial was the first to sell a proper scale crawler. The SCX10. Maybe RC4WD sold scale trucks back then, I can't remember. But as far as I know Axial was there from the beginning of RC crawlers. I bought a SCX10 Honcho shortly after release, and still run it from time to time. Offcourse it's far from a Honcho with all the mods I did.
I came home from work & out of all the Videos I went right to this one. Thank you I appreciate it everytime I watched your videos my eyes went right to the Brazer. There's a reason for my nagging request 😅 I have the last version of the Honcho which is identical to that chassis except it came with plastic links everything else is identical. I do like the Honcho body but my plan is to put the same style Blazer body on it. And I know it's anti sacred but I was going to use the TRX version unless you can recommend another brand that has that similar body. I had already replaced all the links with metal links & just put in a Fusion in preparation. But I must say you are 💯 correct the stock electronics had a very nice slow crawl to it with good torque. I have to say that I also find this simple design to be a great performer. I can't wait to mount up that Blazer body to the chassis & be given me a look at yours & the info you provided I'm stoked to get it going now. I just want to thank you for even responding because some other channels don't seem to ever respond to a simple basic question & I know people can't comment everytime but after a few times it makes me not wanna watch their channel. It was nice to get off a hard day at work & watch this.👐👏👏👏👏 So the name of my channel is actually from Lake Casitas in Ojai CA. my local lake where I fish & take my RC's out. I normally dont like hearing my name being mentioned but your one of my favorite channels & have much respect. My real name is Eddie. Looking forward to Fridays rants this video was like the cherry on top sir. 🤙
As a chevy lover myself, I wish I'd bought this model when I had the damn chance. 😡 About a year ago or so, a guy on ebay was selling one in excellent condition for about $700.00 bucks. 😬

Well said!😁

I was actually thinking the same with my project one!
@ it sounds like a great idea, no matter how ya slice it.
I have been rocking the old Scx10 ii Cherokee kit since 2019. Its a great platform for sure.
The kit that got away! Wish I had grabbed one!
I love that truck. It looks like I could shrink myself or size it up and drive off into the snow
It is one of my favorites!
I love the frames for making scale one off trucks
Gonna build a truck from framerails one day!
still a nice looking truck
I thought the gold wheels were just right on it!

The aftermarket is loaded with 2 parts! You could find a cheap trashed one and still make it better then new!
Thanks for the long term review. I only have the 10.3’s but they are nice. I’m gonna get the new Basecamp. I love the General Grabber tires.
Nice choice on the basecamp! And your current trx4 build.

Nice video 👍
Thanks 👍

Oh, and that Blazer body…. Just gorgeous!
True! First non wrangler they did

Thanks for sharing AL!
Nice 👍🏾💯
Thanks 💯
Anything from Axial has my vote, thanks Gerry for these awesome videos. I also reached out to Rc Nickster with no reply, hope all is well.
Thanks bud, I to hope is well

You are correct sir! Ax10 / scx10 first purpose built crawlers, rc4wd true trail truck same time frame.
I preferred the 10.2 for crawling. It has great steering angle better 3 gear trans. Tiny diffs. Front battery tray...
Still my favorite platform!

Thanks so much my friend, traxxas is the only body I know of. And more blasphemy is that side by side the traxxas body is much nicer!
I've got 3 myself all built differently
The pure joy of the 2!

The trx4 version is a cheaper option!
