I actually find it important to take the lead for a bit of the race in order to get some exhaustion cards to pad your deck with. You want to be able to spread out your good cards, and those exhaustion cards come in handy especially when going downhill.

I bought a steel gravel bike back in 2016 and haven't looked back since. It's all I need :). Also, I love flamme rouge but my wife and kids aren't big fans of it so it usually only comes to the table once or twice a year :/

Gravel bike FTW! Sorry to hear the fam doesn’t love it but glad they entertain you enough to at least get it to the table now and then.

Another good hit is to be the first to the bottom of the uphill. Nothing worst then losing movement due to a traffic jam on the hill

Too bad the Meteo expansion isn’t mention. I used it this weekend and on purpose made a blocked uphill with rain which made two riders crash. I won that stage!

Meteo is underrated by many commenters. We love it. We take out all but two cloud cards and we try to avoid the temptation to place rain in a nasty place non-randomly. We have two Meteo packs and might try playing with both. The small differences it can (but not always) make reflect real world pretty well. Rain on cobbles creates crashes
