Thank you for posting this tutorial!! Just made reading the notes and finger positioning so easy to understand!! I have taken notes and hope to get my violin playing right now..

This explains things much easier I feel for learning violin with the notes , unlike guitar which have frets for finger placement as well , so I’m just starting to learn violin and coordination useing the bow as well ummmm yeah very very very horrible lol , bit lost using the bow and how to use it with the notes you might say , long road ahead for me. Thanks for a great video. 👍
As a person with a lot of health problem, including emotional ones. I decided to learn violin last year as a hobby to distract myself from the real world iknow. I have ADHD since I was a little kid and always had problem to learn stuff, especially in school. I didn't get along well with others during my life journey because of that, however I was and I am a very curious person and always wanted to learn new things. But nobody has the patience or money enough to help with the things I need and want to learn. So I became a self-taught kind of person, I learned English alone, I'm learning Japanese and Spanish as well via free educational sources across the internet. When I decided to start to learn violin, I knew the journey wouldn't be easy but I fell in love with it and that's what brought me here to this moment. I wrote this just to share some of my personal experiences in life and to thank you for gifting us with your knowledge for free, I'm super excited to be here learning with you and I hope I'll be able to play wonderful pieces through the years that has to come ❤️ thank you so much for your time. ( Oh and by the way, I'm still learning English lol, it ain't an easy language to learn 😭).
@@violinwithcatherine I just brought a violin and I haven’t played an instrument since I was in middle school which was ages ago! I haven’t been through all of your tutorials yet. I plan to do one a day! But I will definitely let you know! Subscribed!
Brilliant! I have a question, please. We have 4 strings GDAE and 7 notes ABCDEFG my question is: how do you know if you see for example an A, that will be on the A string or whatever the string? The same applies to the rest of the strings. I get confused about where I should play when I see the notes. Note that I am a quite beginner. I do not know about the violin and the music theory
Hi Hope ful! Each note on the staff represents a SPECIFIC A or B or C etc. so the D just under the staff is specifically for the pitch of the D string (not a lower or higher D). To get to the D one octave higher we need to go to the 4th line on the staff, and we can play THAT particular D with our 3rd finger on the A string. I hope that makes sense for you! 😃🎶🎻
They are the same note, and it’s a choice. It also comes down to context, which one is easier or the better choice for the sound (although they are the same note, we can create a different sound quality by playing it on a different string). 🙂
@@violinwithcatherine I’m guessing also if you’re already playing on the G string it’s quicker and easier to use your 4th finger than switching strings?
A questionnn, so i've seen (i think im not sure if they use it) people use all 3 or two fingers on one string at the same time to play a note - is that actually how you do it? Or do you only have to use one finger at a time on a single string? I'm not a violinist rn and dont have a violin so i'm kinda confused omgg
It’s a good question! You only actually need one finger on the string to change the pitch - essentially we are shortening the length of the string when we do this. However, for more efficient playing it is best to learn to keep down the other fingers at the same time - this can also help us to judge distances better to find our notes more accurately. I hope that made sense for you - if you’re not a violinist and don’t have a violin it may still be confusing 😄🎻🎶
Hello, we can find all the same notes, but the set up for the violin and guitar strings is completely different, so you need to learn violin specifically. Each violin string is a fifth apart, with G string on the bottom.
The G string G sits under the 5 lines of the staff, under 2 leger lines. The G that you play with 3rd finger on the D string (in first position) sits on the 2nd line of the staff. Every single note has one specific place on the music staff. Does that make sense?🙂
