Born in 1958 and still listen to an a.m. radio station that plays music the way it was when music was music. today's music sucks. too much screaming and swearing. no beat. no theme to songs. Since I own a bowling alley, I can honestly say: press my reset button also!
Imagine an artist recording a song like this today in our age of quick and dirty electronically generated music. When you think about how much went into a 2-1/2 minute pop tune back in the 60s, full orchestration, words you could understand, it's head and shoulders above today's stuff Thanks for posting!
Totally agree with your wonderful comments . Simplicity in the form of a wonderful singing voice/talent/ presentation/ wonderful presentation along with a simple orchestral backing , pure talent. So much better than the garbage churned out today . Can you imagine the 'artists' of these days being asked to do this Mmm. me thinks not ! Peggy Wood (Aotearoa)
"Talk Back trembling Lips" is one of quite a few excellent works done by JT. His voice is great for love songs and those songs have a story or message . One of the great performers of the American era in pop music.
I got to meet him when I was 14yo. He is the most wonderful person. I'm 71 and still listening. Love his music and him. One of my favorites I RISE,I FALL
Take away computers cell phones, all the high tech stuff of today and give me back my 1965 falcon and my radio--and Johnny of course!! Still love this man!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happier. I hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face.
I was born in 1949 too. I love to sit and listen to these songs and I also try to get my Grandson on board. I just bought him an IPOD. He has a lot of songs in his Itunes account, but nothing like these songs from the 60's. He does like Blake Shelton. He seldom listens to his music now, too involved on his IPAD listening to UA-cam and watching UA-cam videos. He is 8 years old. I had a transistor radio back when I was 8, burning up batteries while listening to my kind of great music back in the day.
+Delores Tidwell me too. I figure I survived the 60's. Navy 66-70. Nam 67-68. even with all that going on, i'd hit the reset button if I could find it. bless you and your family.
I could not have said that any better.I grew up on old country. And it still holds a special place in my heart.Hank Williams..I'm so lonesome. And too many to name. I listen to them every Saturday. As I break out the pine sol and deep clean. Old habits die hard. Because I won't let them ..lol. Have a great day, and God bless you !
Wow... cute and sweet vocals ♡ why can't music today sound like this anymore? These songs back then had meanings. Golden classics, best era for music hands down!
There still is good music being produced, It just will never get onto the typical "country music" radio station. I listened to real country music starting in about63 when 12 yrs old. It was absolutely magical. It sent shivers up your spine. Today, the worst torture would be to put me in a room and force me to listen to modern country music indefinitely. It has changed that much. Why the change? These are far different times. One small reason might be that most of these singers from those earlier years learned to sing in church. Think about that fact, and (all it implies) for a while.
Everyone needs to stop complaining about todays music. Every generation has their own special 'sound'. Don't insult others because you are stuck in the past.
I never grow tired of this song and many others by Johnny Tillotson. I can still do this word for word and in his voice. My close friend, the late Alton (Al) Hendrickson did the guitar for this one, and countless others as 1st studio guitarist in Hollywood for over 40 years.
I used to drive to Palatka all the time, worked in a little town called Salt Springs, FL. If I would have known then..that Johnny lived there, I'd have at least tried to look him up. I met him at the MGM in Las Vegas back in the early 70s, even got my picture taken with him.
He is a great singer and this is one of his best. It is hard to pick the best version; this or the original by Ernest Ashworth. They are both excellent.
There were 3 singers/groups I would make the 4-5 hour drive from California to Las Vegas to see … Elvis, The Oak Ridge Boys, and Johnny Tillotson. Fantastic shows!
I played a show with Johnny and Paul and Paula back in 1963 with our band The Seventeens - at Evansville, Indiana.. Johnny Tillotson was an awesome entertainer.. It would be nice to go back to those days....
another great artist from the sunshine state....and another great tune from john d. loudermilk....I always loved johnny tillotson....great artist!!!!!!
+tampicokid aww but you are so wrong, I love love love new country,,,,but i still will listen to this and love love love it too!! I have room in my heart for both!
You can see how much he enjoys singing. He's the best singer. Music I have lived thru. Wish I could do it again. I'm glad there was so much good music then.
John I get the feeling that we are from the same age. I'm 1946, We got to listen and share some of the best music this old world has ever heard. The kids now days don'tknow what they are missing. Keep on playing 'em and I'll keep listenin'. Great work.

Our grandparents didn't approve of our parents' music, our parents hated our music, and we don't care for our kids music. And we never seem to learn anything from this. Thanks to Johnny Tillotson for some great songs over the years, some, like this one, written by John D. Loudermilk.
It's a shame today's generation could never appreciate classics like this gem
I'm 15 and I do
Thank goodness for UA-cam.
So many beautiful songs like this from the past!!❤
I do
My grandma used to love songs like this... Espcially this one... But 2 years ago she died from cancer...R.I.P LOVE YOU GRAMMY!!!!
He's such a decent guy grew up taking care of his grandmother who taught him to be well mannered.
Hello Cheryl, How are you doing

From my favourite era for popular music, 1955-63.
I use to listen to Johnny all the time. You can understand what he is singing, not like todays music!
So called "music." 🙄

I love his back up musicians - they are not only talented but unique. I have watched the way some of them play & it's different than today's junk.
My mom got me hooked on this man, Johnny Tillotson, while growing up. He is a great singer and I love this song!! Oh.. and I think he is so cute!!
Me too! ❤️❤️❤️

Pretty good country singer too
Well said, totally agree.. Peggy Wood (Aotearoa)
No country music compares to these classics. Great songs from the heart during a much simpler time.
Whenever I listen to any of these old country classics they put me in a better place.
Better times for me too. From Jerry Bast
U r so rite johnny at his best
It’s funny because I absolutely loathe modern country music but the old stuff is absolutely incredible.
Mr Tillotson was a major crossover artist.
I got to meet him when I was 14yo. He is the most wonderful person. I'm 71 and still listening. Love his music and him. One of my favorites I RISE,I FALL

Lin Lou I agree! I grew up in the 50's & 60's! Fun times! The Best music!!!
Back in the Real Day was the best! Love when I grew up!
There is no other music like this music. This stuff they call country music is terrible I don't care for the music of this eria
You can still buy that old stuff - its available on Ebay! It's ironic that you are using fantastic modern technology to listen to this!
Johnny was among the greatest singers of my time. The music of the 50s & 60s was the best. I switched to country music in the early 70s.
How could I have nearly forgotten Johnny Tillotson? Many thanks for all the memories his songs have brought back!
The era of crying in your beer music, I love em!
Old time country music is the only country music I listen to.
Born in 1946, I must've sung this song to myself a million times.
I was singing this song on the bus this morning, July 10, 2024.
This one of Johnny Tillotsons best ever singles
I agree with u
Me tooo...
50s. 60s and 70s are the years of greatest music of all times.
You will never get an argument from me about your comment:)
I agree with you but I admit that one or two from the later years have slipped through don't know why. Love Dance The Night Away by The Mavericks
You are so right! These were great times for music!
Amen! The best!
Yeah, they sure were! I stay up so late at night just to listen to all the good oldies!
Back in 1962 my girlfriend was friends with Johnny Tillotson,,now every time i hear him i think of Linda Tyson ,after all those years !
Wow I've been listening to this song for about 60 years
There never will be another johnny t, ever, that was the good times❤
Did you ever hear him sing the song, Another YOU? It was on the album I had. You can probably Google it. I love that song.
These were the ultimate love songs. You can hear the words, great melody, can dance to.
Merci pour ce partage en live
Johnny Tillotson est vraiment un grand chanteur. Superbe chanson de 1964
Très agréable à écouter

He was a great singer from back in the early 60's. He had super hits which you cannot find today. Thank you Johnny!!.

He still is. He just cut a song bill anderson wrote back then called "get a little dirt on your hands". Still has that smothering voice❤
Haven't heard this in years! Love his voice!

+Delores Tidwell ME TOO
I kinda miss these days when the singer actually had to know how to sing instead of using auto tune. :).
Those were the best years of music! Miss them! Loved when I grew up!
Or that you could understand the lyrics without having to google them!
Agreed
Mind you Top of the Pops was major lip-synced.

Good stuff for sure. The "music" of today can't hold a candle to songs which one could understand and sing along with.
Real Music, Real Songs, Real Artists, Real Voices.!!!!
NOT TODAY'S BS
I had a crush on this guy when I was a kid love him still love him 70 years later ❤❤

Yes, I was so young but I can remember my father playing the radio in the car and this was sooo popular. Oh, the memories.
I was born in 53 and have loved these songs all of my life! Music today is good, but does not have their hearts into it!
I grew up with your songs what a delight to listen for ever and ever.

Bill, you were so very fortunate. We can't go back but we can cherish our memories, can't we!
Lovely Johnny....So many memories🎵🎶🎼📻 LOVE THIS one
Sometimes you just have to return to simpler times where listening to music was the only thing on your mind and life was good. Not so much anymore.
This was a big US hit for Johnny in 1963. One of his best.
This dang song is so catchy I wake up with song stuck in my head on repeat.
Smashing footage, love it
His eyes are so delicate this is a very musical and spiritual man. A jewel.
I love listening to the old songs. Brings back so many memories.
