  • In this short teaching, Mingyur Rinpoche discusses the third of the four common foundational practices, also called the four thoughts. These practices help us understand our true nature and develop wisdom that can end suffering. They aid in seeing and ending our negative habitual patterns. When causes and conditions come together a result will follow. This is Karma, the third thought. You can discuss this teaching in the Monthly Teachings Forum under the topic The Four Thoughts - Karma.
    This video includes caption subtitles in English, German, and Portuguese.

    Master Rinpoche.. you are a brilliant light.. in the darkness of my mind.. it's taken a while to understand the continuity of lives.. not a philosophy or anything like what is taught in the religions I am familiar with.. it has to do with the very nature of the Universe. mind.. individuals... and the Universe itself stores and processes information.. this is about as far as I have gone along that path of investigation... looking forward to learning more, sir.. I am your most humble servant, sir 🙏Namaste 🙏✌☮🕊

    Before I started my meditation practice, I was so scared of worms and a lot other crawling creatures... After sometime, I realized it was the fear of death that makes me so scared of them... As the fear of death continues to diminish, so as my fear of these creatures. Now I can hold worms and some other crawling creatures with my bare hands....

      Noone knows what happens after death, even if they think they do. This is the buddhist theory of the afterlife which although may not be true, can help us lead better lives if we adopt the belied

      David Conner This is a late answer and funny too that I’m replying you after three years, anyway, highly learned meditator lama or master can even tell you where the death person is reborn and which birth he or she took. I’ll tell you a real story, once there was a very high learned master in a village. Everyone knows he has many powers, he can make prophesy, he can make rainfall when people request him. Usually these types of master don’t do it, but for the benefit of people sometimes on their request they do it. So one day a man from another far away village and his family on his grandma’s death visited the lama to request him to say prayers for the deceased. After that they asked if the deceased has taken birth, lama replied Yes and then they asked did you know what kind of birth she took and where. Lama after some thinking, said, “She is reborn as a snake at your house, underneath the hearth”. They couldn’t believe it and asked, “but Rinpoche, our grandmother was a kind hearted woman, how can she be born as snake”, at that lama said, “although she is kind hearted, but when she was sick and lying on her bed, there was small covering or piece of cloth on a side by window that was flapping and making lots of noises. At that time nobody was there for a while, so she couldn’t get herself up to close the window. She felt anger and knowing no ones coming in she was frustrated more and was angrier. In that state she passed away, since the state of mind at the moment of death is crucial for next birth, due to her anger she born as a snake, but after that birth she will have better birth. Go and dismantle the hearth, you will find her there”. The master never seen their house before and the way he was describing everything, made them want to believe it. So when they reach at home. They broke the hearth and found the snake there.
      There are many stories like that.

      There are some people who speculate about afterlife, that is true.
      But, there are also enlightened beings, such as shakyamuni Buddha, and padmasambhava, who are able to directly perceive beyond the veil of death, beyond time and space, and access knowledge that is not available to beings who are shrouded in the veil of samsara.

      @omahhumvajragurupadmasiddhihum 5 років тому

      It's not that no one has come back to explain, it's that you don't know about it, and because of that, you assume they simply don't exist. Actually, there are many accounts of great meditators in the Tibetan tradition who went through the process of dying and came back, they are called "Once returner" or something of the like. They have greatly contributed to explaining the process of death. Others remembered all the process of dying after they became enlightened, since omniscience and remembering past lifetimes comes with it.

    I want to question here is this that , suppose if a man drives drunk and give accedent to other person ..and then ok we say the drunk guy will get his karma in this life or next life ..but why the other guy suffer or face that so long time or whole life ?

    What happens if you hurt someone, but you didn't do it on purpose and you then regret hurting the other person? Does anyone know?

    • @sherabthomey4418
      @sherabthomey4418 8 років тому +2

      since you hurt someone without any bad intention or purpose than the negative karma is lesser degree than doing it with ill will or with a intention to hurt someone really, whether verbally, physically or mentally. example, when going for war the whole army has a intention to hurt or kill so the negative karma is same whether actually the solder has killed a enemy or not. hope that answer.

    • @JasonGafar
      @JasonGafar 7 років тому +2

      Daniel Noote if you hurt someone without ANY negative intention than no negative kamma ensues. This is where Buddhism differs from Jainism. In Jainism whether your motivation is harmful or pure isn't the issue but the action itself. In Buddhism it's entirely about the motivation. So, if you have harmed someone unintentionally, than no negative karma will come to you and you being sad and sharing that person's suffering will actually give you positive merit.

    A person might do good things in order to reap the rewards of good karma, or out of fear of the consequences of bad karma - this isn't freedom. So both sides of karma are a prison . Freedom would be freedom from the endless cycle of karma.
