Just bought a 2025 CX5 GS Comfort in Toronto. My main goal was NO CVT!!! All things considered, this is the most practical vehicle for me and my wife with a luxurious feel to it without breaking the bank. 😊
Have a 2024 select & LOVE it. Good price, features, comfy, well built, 6 speed automatic, made in Japan , lots of options included, total package. Only con is not as good gas mileage as I'd like, but getting better than printed on the sticker. So that's OK. All in all, I'll go with Mazda from here on. Have always been a honda or Toyota, NO MORE !!! Sorry I waited so long to try this brand. Luxury, at a bargain price. ZOOM ZOOM
I have a preferred CX5, and I agree, it is the best value trim available, and it is only $2k more. In 30k miles I am averaging 31.1 mpg in mixed used driving. In the rear center armrests for my Preferred are two USB outlets for the rear passengers.
@@jitingambhir thanks 😊. I’m leaning towards the preferred mainly for the power lift gate and the auto dimming rare view mirror. I don’t really need to sunroof. Now Just wondering how much realistically I can negotiate off the MSRP.
that road you drove on about 20 minutes in is Chicatawbut road and it is one of my favorite local backroads to drive on when im trying to have a fun drive. It's like the closest thing we have to the mohawk trail in this part of the state 😂
Currently own a 2021 Carbon Edition as well as a 2024 preferred with turbo. The 21 is a great car and just turned 30k. Toyo tires are not that great. Rated for 40k but died at 30k. The 24 is a blast to drive and easily operates with confidence. The difference in the engines is notable but not detrimental. The transmission works well with both. I also find the 21 seats more comfortable with slightly more cushioning. To date, neither car has required anything other than required maintenance. Rotary drive takes time to get used to and the non-touch interface is a love/hate set up. Probably takes 3 to 4 weeks of continuous use to get use to dial. Rear space is limited but workable and, with seats down, holds a fair amount. Overall both are great cars and I’d buy a 3rd, if needed (got teenagers, lol).
What color is it? Very nice. So glad it does not automatically come with a sunroof and not all of us need a power lift gate. I have a turbo vehicle and it can be laggy. Naturally aspirated is right for me. Thank you for not using a head camera that make us dizzy. And thank you for a wonderful review. Scenic road is gorgeous 😊
@@jamiecummings3850 thanks, I’m going back and forth between the select and the preferred. I don’t need to sunroof so I guess I’d only be getting the preferred for the automatic rare lift gate
Shocked that you call that A pillar “thin”. One of the thickest I have seen in this segment and is a major reason I did not purchase the CX 5. It creates a large blind spot. Otherwise, I do really enjoy your reviews!
It's incredible that Mazda has NOT changed the body style OR the interior of this car since 2017!!! That is NINE model years with the same body style! I can't think of any other car company that goes this long without body changes to its vehicles. The CX-5 is already tired and boring! It certainly needs a significant refresh to make it exciting again. You're hearing this, Mazda????
The only reason I purchased the CX 5 in 2024 is because of its interiors, didn't want the extra screen BS. Physical buttons for everything. Old school is the best school for me.
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada I saw the 2026 mazda CX5 and its quite the departure of the current model no rear wiper blade the round dial on the console is gone replaced by a 12.3 display screen
@@geyser3445 Agree. Wish journalists would go back to including the freight fee when talking about MSRP. They, as well as manufacturers, started leaving it out when they jacked up that fee few years ago.
Yeah they use base MSRP for this stuff. In reality it’s 1400 for destination. The actual sticker for the select in my area is more like 31,000. I got a white one which adds 500. Then 200 doc fee and 2500 tax minus 800 in dealer incentive brought it out the door at 33,500. But yeah it’s technically 30k. You can’t actually buy one at that price but that’s how the dumb scheme works. As long as the figure is consistent between all vehicles it still works for comparison. If you actually have 30k to spend you need to be looking at vehicles that cost “25k”
Not everyone wants the added features in the premium. Value depends completely on what YOU want. It would have been a waste for me to go premium to add features I actively don’t want. Like moon roof and powered litigate. I might even pay more to NOT have those things. The ego centric bias is strong in you. You should try to think outside of your own personal preference when making general claims.
Cx 5 does have wireless support. The Select trim is plug in only. The higher trims have to have some features. Otherwise what’s the point in trim levels. It’s nice that people who don’t care don’t have to pay for features they don’t need.

Exactly no cvt or DSG. I want to know when generation CX-5 comes
Just purchased mine today! I absolutely love it! ❤
Me tooooo
Me too! But I noticed the headlights look fogged up. Not sure if that’s just designed that way. Also got a chip in the paint the first week.
1 thing you forgot. The rear center armrest that folds down does open up & has a USB connector for your phone.

Hi, question on the preferred does the backup camera lines move when you turn the wheel ( sorry I don’t know the technical term for the feature)
@@MovingAlong531its called trajectory lines. Comes only in the signature trim with 360 camera. I know its a bummer

Thank god they’re keeping a naturally aspirated engine without cvt.

When comes new generation CX-5 ?
I bough a 2023 preferred and traded in my 2013 mazda3 was able to get the out the door price to 25k
Where?
At Russell and Smith mazda
Turn signals are LED, both front and back.
When the rear seats are folded, what are the width and length dimensions of the rear area?
The turn signals are LED and there are two USB ports in the back armrest…
Great car!
You forgot about the sequential manual mode of the 6 speed.
When you switch to sport mode, does it also affect the steering response? Or does it only change the shift point?
Shift point only
RAV4 models vs CX-5 in equal trims.... which would you prefer?
All rav4s are now hybrid (complex) paired with eCVT trans which you will have issues in the near future.
No question it would be the MAZDA hands down
Is there blind spot monitoring on the select trim?
yes according to the MazdaUSA site.

When a design works, why change it.
Stop being so dramatic. The CX-5 has had many revisions and it’s Mazda’s number one seller for a good reason.
It works and it is not over engineered.
