Perfect in every sense from both artists. This is perhaps my all time favorite classical piece from the first time I heard it with Kremer/Afanassiev live at the Ambassador Aud. Pasadena, I think 1982.
This outstanding fantasy is an absolute masterwork. Neither Mozart nor Beethoven ever wrote something like the purity of the simple line of the violin over the dark piano part in the very beginning, nor the contrast which follows immediately. We should not forget than Schubert played the second violin part when he was a teenager in the orchestra of the Konvikt.
Samuel Alumian with a perfect speed and still keeping clarity of sound as intended. Leonid Kogan a magician on his beautiful sounding violin bringing the melodic side in an expressive and moving way not known comparably from any other violinist.Pure music and a privilege that this life performance from 1975 could be reissued , a pecious heritage.
The brilliant violinist! Call Violin and flew back, Then froze for a moment in silence, Not bow to the strings violin touched. And the strings of the heart, mind and soul

One of many fine performances - starting with the Busch-Serkin recording of 1931. Joel D

Absolutely knockout

Very cerebral artistry.
Alumian much better than Kogan ......
