I can not believe what I just watched. You’ve got a pulley, use it for the mechanical advantage. By hooking the pulley to a tree you gained nothing but a direction change. Pulley needed to be hooked to the stuck skidded. Winching skidded wirerope goes through pulley and back to itself. 2 to 1 mechanical advantage.
Should have learned that in physics class.. how to use what Timothy suggested. But we were entertained just the same, and the video lasted longer.. lol
True, that works if you have enough cable. It appears they used the block to place the winching machine facing down hill, since it was pulling itself backwards on the first try, where it was facing up hill. If they double lined it with the winch uphill, it would just pull it backwards even easier unless you had something big to anchor it to. It takes a lot of line once you start double or triple line rigging.

Well been there done that. Attach the pulley to the stuck skidder and then bring the line back to the winch. You'll get twice the pulling power. Another approach is back out with both winches pulling. Chains might have helped not getting stuck in the first place. All that being said nobody got hurt and equipment not broke. Good job.
At least you were pulling, but I hate to hear you had so much trouble. Sometimes my wife tells me we're better off to stay at the house. Thanks for watching and I'm hoping for better days for ya.
Thanks for watching, we have ran some chains in the past on our 648. The skidder driver was backing up trying to get a drag and crossed over a drain, he thought he could get out and probably made it much worse by spinning. At the time, he didn't have that much experience on a skidder and was learning. It cost us sometime and money, but we did get it out and he hasn't made the same mistake again.
