FWIW, great little trick - use your Seasoned Scout to found a city on a nearby coast square (for two or three turns) and drop the treasure off there versus dragging it halfway across the mapboard taking many turns and possibly getting nabbed by the Indians. This works even better once you have Cortez, where the king's galleons will transport your treasure for free.
I have been known to do this, but almost never without Cortez - the idea of missing out on most of the treasure by letting the king charge extra irks me even more than losing everything to the natives. Still, good advice.
You are currently using the keyboard/arrow keys to move the unit into the high sea square ... when you use the arrow keys, the game will only ask you if you want to sail on your second high seas movement ... if however, you use the right mouse click to move into the high seas square, or if you select the "move to europe" action menu ... the ship will instantly sail to europe upon entering the first high seas square ...
I enjoy playing this game but am pretty much a noOb. But I think watching this series will help me learn a bit more about the aspects that are a big help to actually completing a Veiceroy( i think spelt wrong) game.
The #1 advice for playing on Viceroy difficulty is to play the Dutch. Their bonus is just so much stronger than the other nations, as the extra money lets you buy your way out of just about anything. Other than that, it's mainly about building fortifications and stockpiling firearms and (especially) horses for the independence war. I wish you the best of luck in your own games. :-)
@@kebzero There may be an alternative to this strategy. Try and find, if possible, a very small island, one with only ONE land square if the game allows that. Make your main colony there and grab a few cash crops (furs is the easiest but others like cotton and/or tobacco will do too) with colonies up to size 2 (this is important as if you go to size 3 you are "married" to those colonies and the strategy depends on abandoning undefendable colonies). Make lots of money by generating raw materials and making industrial products, at your main colony, and trade them either at home or with the natives. You will need to add at least TWO temp colonies producing ore - VERY important as ore makes tools and later on weapons plus ALL the needed colony buildings need tools to make. You will need 4-6 expert Fishermen, to feed your main colony, 3 Elder Statesmen to produce bells and at least a couple blacksmiths and gun makers working round the clock. When you have the guns needed (AND artilleries too, you can make those too), anabdon ALL small(er) colonies, gather your colonists to your main, arm them as soldiers, raise your rebel sentiment at 100% if not there already and declare independence. With no place to land the King's troops, you win easily! ;-)
Love this game

@@kebzero I definitely hear you on that and I'm generally the same way.
As stated in video one - use the go-to command and you will sail to Europe faster. The dialog box seems to cost one movement point

On viceroy the founders cost
56
225
337
449
And then each subsequent one costs an additional 112
Thanks! I'll try to keep those numbers in mind.
I loved it when I found the fountain of youth.
Thanks for the video.
