- An interview with EarthBound, USA producer Aaron Cargile! EarthBound, USA will be publicly available on November 27th, 2023, but I had the chance to see an exclusive early screening & speak with the movie's archival producer. We talk copyright & fair use (in UA-cam and in film), Fangamer, and the EarthBound fandom!
NOTE: Aaron Cargile’s opinions are his own, and not necessarily representative of Fangamer.
Also, just my lines in this interview are re-recorded, largely due to an error with the source audio. Though mainly read from a script, I tried to approximate the original diction & intent.

Full English captions are available, as transcribed by me. Even though the interview is in spoken English, I still personally love to turn on subtitles whenever available so I can more easily follow along! I do think the main appeal is listening to this interview like a podcast, but I went ahead and threw in some additional visuals for anyone watching anyway. There’s a playthrough of the beginning of EarthBound I did just for this interview in the background, with some commercials/trailers relevant to the conversation periodically spliced in. I actually played on a slow text speed when I did my third play-through last month.
With the rolling HP meters, it sort of acts as a difficulty selection.
Strongly recommended!
I almost mentioned that actually, but I wasn't quite sure how it works since I haven't played that way myself! Does the rolling HP meter slow down with the text speed? If not, that would make things much more challenging 😅

Very enlightening. Great interview. Totally on point and well paced. Both interviewer and interviewee were really invested in the conversations. As a hearing impaired person, I also really appreciated the captions.

Jazzy Benson is actually the director of the documentary, and Robbie Benson did the music! Jazzy brought up EarthBound Saga during the Q&A after the premiere 😁

I've been dying to post this--the interview was on the 17th (the night after the premiere), and I've been working on editing it ever since! I'm going to enjoy this just being out for a few days, and then it's time to work on the film review 😅 Super Mario Bros. Wonder has been sitting on my shelf too, so now I can finally dive into it lol

Hello! As for the cost, this film had a Kickstarter called "You Are Now EarthBound" by Fangamer. The goal was $100,000, but $306,127 was ultimetely pledged by fans. I'm not sure how much revenue it's made so far. but they've sold out of all the physical copies they produced

Excellent, you are very welcome!
