    Showing the close up of the needles helped to explain a lot. I repair denim so much that I forget to change my needles for other fabrics. Thank you for this first video!

      I tried to work with simili leather fabric with the wrong needle that went wrong ! It just needed a jersey needle and all was ok😂

    I am sewing a pair of pants from stretch atm and I am using twin needles. It makes a great straight stitch that stretches. And I love the look of two paralell stitches

    I love knits to make and wear. My problem is whenever I sew knits my machine skips stitches. I put cellophane tape on the bottom of the foot creating a smaller hole in it and it stops skipping it only until it comes off. Is there a special foot for knots? I love this channel!❤️

      Hi! Try using masking tape instead of foil. And don't forget to use ball point needles.

    Ah, I remember the struggle sewing knits, before I finally caved and got a serger 😅.
    The right needle and stitch and spray starch or a lightweight fusible interfacing, to prevent stretching, helps a lot, though!

  • @dale3404

    • @dale3404
      @dale3404 3 місяці тому +1

      @@madeleineschwarrtz7433 I’ve never noticed any discoloration. The starch is designed for use on fabrics, has been around for decades, and there is no disclaimer on the package, so it should be safe. Maybe you could starch small swatches and let them sit for several days or weeks, then rinse out the starch.

      Hi Madeleine
      Yes. You can try to use interfacing. And then, in top of that, you can make a stay stitch right beside where you are going to stitch your zipper. Don’t pull the fabric as you sew. Good luck 🤞🤞🤞

    Saving this! I used a combination of knits and woven fabric to make my son’s last Halloween costume. This included an unexpected “oh crap I need to replace the sleeves and don’t have enough scrap knit to do it!” I was able to compensate by adding a square gusset in the armpit. (I used to read a lot of SCA clothing tutorials for historical garments, particularly chemises and gowns.)
    Can you include in another video how to ease together a knit and a woven fabric? I have a woven skirt with a stretchy, crochet type waist, that I want to shorten from the top. I’ve got an idea of how to do it, but I’m still a bit nervous about following through!
