I'm a Liverpool fan since the 90s but it's always interesting to see season reviews of other clubs from the VHS days so thank you for uploading. Chelsea are such a fascinating club because of how much they've evolved. When I went on a stadium tour everyone was so friendly. And Ken Bates is the true hero of the club. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd defend him to death if anyone said anything bad about him.
well they've won more FA Cups than Liverpool, and more league titles since 2000, and have more CLs than Arsenal and Spurs combined. But I think being a "big club" is so arbitrary I've stopped thinking about it. Are Man Utd a bigger club than Liverpool? Don't know, don't care (anymore).
The haters and jealous heads always said Roman brought success to Chelsea. They forget that ever since Ruud joined the club way back that was just the beginning of the new CFC. Plus every season from 99 onwards they always finished in the top 6 and that was way before Roman came.
@andisadler2897 I'm missing the part where that means they deserved unlimited funds and guaranteed ChampionsLeague football every year for over a decade?? Not to mention several trophies. Leeds wouldn't have had to sell all their best players if finishing in the top6 for at least 5 straight seasons gave you that as they finished in top5 from 1997/98 to 2001/02. The team I support is a bigger stature than yours, I'm not jealous of Chelsea, I wanted them to get Top4 in 2003 but after learning how fake their success became I started disliking them even when they still weren't as good as my team. Things became predictable. They had to win things even if they weren't winning the PL, if they didn't play well they were bailed out anyway by the officials and they had easy cup draws most of the time. If my team didn't win I wanted a team who actually deserved the trophy to win instead there were some good top6 teams but Chelsea's money denied them. Besides even what they won after they ended their 26 year trophy drought in 1997. You act like those trophies means Chelsea were very successful and had a history as if people didn't know they won a few trophies then but come on they hardly won anything in their history before then. The money came at the best time for Chelsea not just because they were going into liquidation, but it was also near the start of at least 4 PL teams being allowed in CL. There weren't as many challengers or any other sugardaddy clubs like ManCity for a while and even other big clubs weren't as rich as they all are now hence why it's not that straightforward for a Newcastle now despite having rich owners there's loads of very rich teams now.
@@FootkerSnooball Listen hater, you forget the 6 seasons before Roman came Chelsea finished in top 6 and won fa cups and european cup winners cup and world club championship. I know Leeds were a great team in 1970s so why did Review and Bremner feel the need to try and bribe the opponents before games if Leeds were as good as they made out. Chelsea from 2004- have been one of the most successful teams in the whole of the UK. Is it my fault Roman went to Chelsea and produced a world class team? You act like its all my fault, but somehow i dont see the same happening at Leeds. You sir are a very jealous troll. If money came to ur club then youd welcome it with open arms wouldnt you lol. LEEDS will never be a bigger team than Chelsea. These days Leeds mediocre team, shite attendances, shite manager. Stop living in the past.
My second season as a ticket holder. I will never understand what they said to Gullit and Hughes to persuade them to join. "We're a mid-table team who haven't won a trophy for 24 years, but it might work out. What do you think?"
@Glozboy22 You only had to watch the beginning of this video to know why. Glenn Hoddle was a big reason Gullit joined. Hughes could've had similar reasons but also like Gullit was getting on a bit. Hughes joined even lower teams afterwards (but not before helping you win FAcup and therefore other trophies that followed as a result of that).
Do you have any of the other season reviews? Looking for ones between 1990 and 1995....feels like I spent most of my childhood watching those VHS reviews.
Yes i admit Glenn demanded changes when he joined. He really started the CFC Revolution, Hughsey,Dan The Man,Ruudy to name but a few, followed by Vialli and of course Franco which Ruudy carried onwards. The rest is of course history. People say Romans money brought success but remember since 1999 under Vialli and Ranieri we finished in the top 6 every season sine 96-97! until we actually won the league in 2004-05. Therefore i always felt slightly sorry for Ranieri, he did so well without the mighty Russians wealth and if kept on as manager he would have won the league also. With that financial backing even my wife could have managed Chelsea to the title. So is Jose Mourinho really so special? He proved how special he was at Spurs and now at manure. Not so special when a billionaire Russian buys a club and puts millions into it, cmon now lets be sensible. Mourinhos best achievement was at Porto, he took a mediocre team to champs league glory and that was a miracle.

is Chelsea historically a big club in your opinion

This is the season that changed it all for us. That put us forever on the path to glory.
Yes after the Gullit signing!
Loved this season. Thx you so much Huddle for bring Ruud to Chelsea. This move change everything!
Dennis Wise is blue legend. We love you!
Chelsea 1995-2000 had a lot of awesome players... Vialli, Gullit, Wise, Zola, Hughes, Di Matteo, Leboeuf
Petrescu as well

Yes we had some big wins too. 5-0 against utd and arsenal. And 6-1 away to spurs!

Thanks to Boehly and crew for giving me the opportunity to relive my childhood by making Chelsea a mid table team again.
