It would be hard to tour and party and write enough songs to go back in studio and get ready for next tour. Nonstop working and playing and traveling and partying. Hard life, really
When VH would do there acoustic PCs they sound like there outta the Mississippi Delta then boom they hit you in the face with there bombastic style flare and musicianship - fantastic
Well Van Halen was my favorite band at 11 years old my mom took me to see them when I was 12 years old. I've never bought that other album don't want it. But I had this one and then I had it in cassette and now that I have it on CD
This track is "Van Halen". All the albums leading up to 1984 had different styles and influences. On 1984 you can hear all the bits and pieces. Diver Down had its moments
The reason why VH did so many covers on diver down is because they had been on the tour/record cycle for 5 yrs straight with minimal time off and record company threw them into the studio again looking for new album.they were burned out and didn't have enough material or time to do whole album....there's a reason for everything!!!!
Wait! You can’t be skipping Big Bad Bill, are you??!! I recognize you’ve found one of their styles as your favorite. I love it and them too. But, one of the things I found very appealing is their ability to take on any style and make it their own. Many have their very valid arguments about the overall quality of Diver Down. Fair enough. In addition to the fact, “Bill” showcases the only recording with Jan Van Halen (their father). It absolutely shows how wide the scope of influences were for them. Glad to see how much you’ve come to enjoy VH.
The best part of a man yeah. Eddie felt rushed by the record co. to get this one out and didn't get what he wanted musically on this album. He also said , it won't happen again.
I am gonna go out on limb lol 😅and say this song probably influenced by a band non other then ZZ Top.. and maybe a little John Lee Hooker in the intro.. Being sarcastic of course it was
Yeah they was good on that harmonica Steven Tyler is too I always like to Aerosmith they became my number one band when I guess it was kind of a tie but anyway when Sagar started I had to move on I kept my old Van Halen stuff I know a lot of people don't agree but Sammy Hagar ruin Van Halen. It was never the same again but Steven Tyler can rock a harmonica to I've seen Aerosmith 52 times
Such a groove. This is a fun one to play. By the way, that’s Dave on harmonica, and the acoustic guitar intro
This is my favorite song off of Diver Down. It kicks ass!
love it lol .BAYOU right down the road from me I'm in Flora-Bama. And it's freezing even the Gators is cold

David Lee Roth played the acoustic guitar intro and the harmonica solo.

Sick tune! 🤘🤘
Best song of this album!
As I have read. After Fair Warning wasn't a huge selling record, Warner Brothers demanded a something immediately. They recorded Pretty Woman

It’s art… there is no best or worst.

Why doesn't THE FULL BUG ever get radio play? Why isn't it one of Van Halen's most popular songs?
agreed, such a shame

This is Daves Album Edward Hated it ....Cover Band .... Fair Warning is Edwards Album...... Love them both Miss U Edward
Some of the greatest licks ever on this album. They were all Ed’s albums. If you were a VH fan when this dropped, you’ll never forget it.
That's dlr on on the harmonica
I liked this because it was different. Not my favorite by far, but I thought it was gutsy putting this out.
Hmm I always wondered what the lyrics are about?
Lightning in a bottle .

They used to cover ZZ Top a lot so it wouldn't surprise me at all.
