    Received the Neumi center channel speaker and I've been using it for a few days. I have the same impression as mentioned in your review, slightly recessed but high detail and good dialogue clarity. It just seems so well balanced in terms of the overall sound field. I have two subs in my set up, so I don't need bass from the center channel. It is working out well for me and a great value.

    Nice review. Was thinking about adding the Neumi CS5 for the front L/R channels in my 5.2 surround. I may want to upgrade the center channel too.

      I think the CS5 if set vertically would make a good LCR for a budget system with better output capability vs the BS5.

    • @Audiomainia2310

      @@lamecasuelas2 I found too things - muted dialogue most probably due to the dual 5" woofers muffling the tweeter. And the vinyl wrap peeling on line of the corners out of the box. They went back in a little over a week. Not as this reviewer advertised at all.

    WOW! This Is actually very useful..i am considering some options for left and right speakers, i have the Andrew Jones Center channel speaker, which i love because Is not fatiguing at all, and for i've heard and read these seem to be a good match. Also, holy shit, that speaker Is pretty much flat. For the Price That Is very impressive

      I find the Neumi bookshelves and Center to be pretty comparable to the pioneers. I had a complete 5.1 system with the pioneer towers, bookshelves and center and really enjoyed it.

    Good video, appreciate it. 👌 these seem like they could do well as front left, right, center, but standing straight up. 🤔 just an amateur theory, lol. Thoughts?

      I actually think this would would work well for a budget LCR configuration for a small home theater. I currently use mine in an upright position behind a acoustic transparent screen and speech intelligibility is excellent

    Good job, bro. I'm a subscriber now. For the extremely close price match, would you recommend this center channel over the Sony Core series center speaker?? Both Amazon and Best Buy offer the Sony for under $75, but I can drive 15 min from my house to get the Sony. I'm very tempted to wait for shipping to get this Neumi. The effort they put into the crossover tells me they were serious about winning loyal customers with the better quality for less money mantra. So would you say this Neumi is worth waiting for shipping, versus driving down to Best Buy and getting the Sony Core series for close to the same price??

    • @OHMAudioChannel
      @OHMAudioChannel  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for the subscription! I haven’t had an opportunity to hear the Sony Core center channel, but I know their bookshelf is a great performer. It does use 4” woofers vs the Neumi 5” so it might be a little more limited on its output.

    How bad is the Pioneer center now I wonder, I have it along with the BS22 bookshelfs, all with the Vifa tweeters and "simple" crossover mod from Dennis Murphy, would the Neumi be an upgrade?

    • @OHMAudioChannel
      @OHMAudioChannel  2 роки тому +1

      I feel the Neumi has better vocal clarity over the stock Pioneer. Now if you’ve done the Murphy mods, hard to say as I haven’t performed those mods myself.

    So, this may be a far-off question, but I bought this for music and love it. Like u say some music sounds are not there with music, can the crossover be changed out for another to get the full music experience?

    • @OHMAudioChannel
      @OHMAudioChannel  Рік тому

      It would take quite a bit of work to get the crossover improved as well as tools that cost way more than the speaker itself to get started.

    • @ForrestLambert.2022
      @ForrestLambert.2022 Рік тому

      @@OHMAudioChannel is it the actual crossover that makes it sound like that with music?

    • @krjohnson29
      @krjohnson29 Рік тому

      @@ForrestLambert.2022 I'm sending my CS5 to GR Research to get tested and potentially get a new crossover designed. Probably should hear back from them in a month or so if they were able to do anything with it.
      I did the GR Research crossover upgrade on the BS5s and am so happy with it that I had to see what GR Research could do with the center channel. 🙂 But OHM Audio is definitely correct, I expect any upgrade of the crossover to probably cost more than the stock speaker itself did (maybe even 2x or 3x) as well as take quite a bit of work on my end (well maybe an afternoon's worth of work anyway). But after the upgrade I would suggest it might be better than speakers costing several times more than that, depending on how you look at it. We shall see. 🙂
      The crossover definitely changes how a speaker sounds. A well designed crossover blends the output of the woofer and the tweeter so that they seamlessly blend into each other and create a relatively flat response without any out-of-phase cancellation. But there's an art to it, because there's a lot of different ways to design them and ways that they can correct for issues with the drivers or other aspects of the speaker design. And the parts quality in the crossover also matters and can affect the clarity and detail.

    Would you recommend getting the CS5 as a center for my BS5s? I've been thinking on it for awhile just haven't gone through with it yet. I've also been looking for a sub to accompany them.

    • @OHMAudioChannel
      @OHMAudioChannel  Рік тому +1

      Yes. They are slightly different in their tonality, but overall I felt they meshed well together, especially if your have an AVR that has some form of room correction with EQ.
      As far as a budget subs, I’ve always been a fan of Dayton Audio, but the Jamo C 912 is another solid option, especially when on sale.

    How well would a setup using the cs5 as the center, and then 2 cs5 mounted vertically as the left and right speakers?

    • @OHMAudioChannel
      @OHMAudioChannel  2 роки тому +2

      It could be a compelling option. A lot of “LCR” speakers are MTM designs. The beam forming you get with that design helps alleviate some floor and ceiling bounce while providing a nice wide listening window left to right. If used for a theater setup I think it would work well since you’ll presumably be using a subwoofer.

      @OHMAudioChannel  2 роки тому +2

      @@ProudPapaKY that’s quite similar to size room I’m running for my HT. The Neumi’s will have plenty of output unless you like listening to your movies above say 80-85dB on average. If your placing the BS5 close to a wall, plug the ports for a better response without the bulls leaking out the port
