Had the pleasure of a quick meeting with L.Q. at the Cowboy Up For Vets fundraiser a few years ago. He kindly signed an item for a friend of mine who couldn't attend. We sat down and just started a conversation when a group of people came up and essentially hijacked the table, forcing me out and redirecting the focus on them. But L Q. was gracious and friendly for that brief time. I will always wish that we could have finished our talk, but l was super thankful that we crossed paths on that sunny day.
What a great interview! I think Clint Walker was the most handsome man ever to be in Hollywood. He was a good and kind gentleman too! I sure miss the westerns of my childhood. Heck, alot of them were reruns when I first saw them. Sweet memories.
Carrie Flynn So true. Everything about Clint Walker was genuine. He was the most handsome gentleman in all of Hollywood and still is even though he’s riding with the angels now.
@@janethartwig774 Hi Jane. I loved your message about Clint Walker. I sure wish I could have met him! I still love to watch Cheyenne. Clint Walker everyday! 💕 Linda Carter
What a great actor L.Q. Jones was. Thank you Mr. Jones for playing in SO many westerns like you did over the years, and also thank you for not getting weak like some of the other western actors did by playing in and appearing in ridiculous movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, and Planet Of The Apes. You stayed true to your craft. R. I. P. 🇨🇱L.Q. JONES🇨🇱
Oh, I really liked L. Q.Jones. I could sit n listen to him all day. I bet he could tell some great stories. I had no idea the Clint Walker was so big in body building. He was a handsome man. ♥️😊👍
Clint Walker! What a MAN! Fell in love with him as a little girl in the late 60's and when asked who my favorites from that time, he's always number 1 with me.
I met L Q JONES at a EOT for SASS A FEW YEARS BACK TOOK A PHOTO OF US AND TO THIS DAY I can't be more pleased of how very nice a man he was accomindateing to questions asked again I grew up thinking all these western actors were my uncle's as my father knew all their names , it wasn't till I read the credits ,I realized my pops humor. my father and I watched. allmost every western show together
Neal Ro Clint Walker not only had great physical attributes, he was an all-around decent guy, a man of integrity, with strong Christian values and character......he could also sing purty good too!! Always liked LQ Jones and this is a great interview with him!!
LQ!!! Now That’s a MAN. Always engaging onscreen, playing good guy or bad. Great face-and that head of hair! Check him out in some of his war films, and a comedy or two. Here’s to you L Q!
Catching up on some of your past shows . Thank you for all the hard work you do to make us old timers ( 71 ) little kids again . Mr. Jones one of my favorite actors of all time!
L.Q. Jones one of the best in any role he played, He has been a main stay in so many shows and movies. Happy 91 yrs and hope you stay healthy and around many more years. You need to sit down and record all your great memories before they are lost for ever. Rob maybe you could help with that. Loved the insight into 2 of my favorite shows. We watched All the western of the 50s. 60s till they stopped making good ones.
I love you and your work, L.Q. I will miss you forever, and so will all your other loyal supporters. Thank you for sharing so much with us about the shows and cast members.
What a guy! From so young to now. Always a terrific actor. L. Q. Was so busy working and a great memory for me. Seems to me I recall seeing him forever on the screen. Great story teller. Telling stories about Clint was fabulous. Dick Jones stories too. So much of a fun wonderful interview. 91 years old at the time and a great talker. My mom is 90 and a great story teller too. Incredible people. His voice is memorable. I'm could go on. Thank you for this wonderful interview Rob.
Always loved Clint Walker. He had a good heart. Quite evident. Must have been special to work with good people like Clint. Clint had a great physique, shoulders that wouldn’t quit.
Great to see him! L.Q. was all over the map back then and he always did a great job in every role he was in! I still watch alot of these westerns today, brings back great memories as a child watching them with my parents!
L.Q. is my ole buddy! We still talk by phone one in awhile. He hasn't been feeling well lately so I hope he is doing better since tomorrow is his 92nd birthday! Happy Birthday ole friend!
David Hayes --You're a very lucky man to be able to call him buddy‼️I could spend hours and hours talking with him and I would die a happy man lol❗️ So happy he's still with us. My Mother is 94 and she loves him also. Take care sir‼️👍🏼
He is in my favorite Gunsmoke episode playing the friend of Glenn Corbett who faked he was a hero, but when it mattered he gave up his life to protect a women he loved even though she didn't love him.
Fantastic! L.Q. has had such a long and incredible career that it would be near impossible to cover everything, but anything he does share is fascinating to listen to. When I was growing up he seemed to be in almost everything that I watched, and seeing his name in the credits still makes me happy.
L q Jones and Clint Walker wow when I was living in Palm Springs working for Culligan water we went to mr. Walker's to deliver his water tanks. Before we left I was admiring some orange trees he had and he said" go ahead son grab a couple"what a big thrill it was for mejust to be at his house never mind him talking to us I think i ate one and save the other one until it was completely rotten😀
I'm a big fan of L. Q. I've run into him a couple of times in the supermarket and he was so kind and affable both times, allowing me to ask questions about Don Johnson and Sam Peckinpah, etc... He is a straight shooter, honest, thoughtful and intelligent in his answers. His scene in Casino, for which he wrote 3 different versions, is one of the highlights of that film. The fact that Scorsese gave him free reign says volumes about his talent for storytelling and dialog. When I go to that supermarket, I always hope to run into him again!
mybingobrain POV: A guy, knocked onto his back, looks up to see a handful of dimes coming at him (in horrific slo-mo) from the barrel of a shotgun. My favorite Peckinpah scene. I think I was technically too young to be in the theater, but I was ecstatic over that cinematic magnificence. Ring a bell? I realize that might be a dumb q to ask a SamFan 😜
Sure he will be nice to you as you treated him like a regular guy which he was that’s his job afterwards just wants to be a regular guy few are snobs ones who are get hardly any work!
I've always been a fan of L.Q. Jones. Thank you for having him on. I ran into a guy about 2 months ago-that is the splitting image of L.Q. when he appeared in: Lone Wolf McQuade with Chuck Norris. Same look, same features, same voice. I don't know this man's name, but he lives here in Corpus Christi. I wonder if L.Q. Jones has any sons that looks like him? Anyway, this guy and I both became great acquaintants.
L.Q. Jones is always funny and entertaining, and amazingly spry at 91. Please post more of this interview. I would never have guessed that Lee J. Cobb was a very funny man at heart. James Garner said the same thing about the serious character actor, Gerald Mohr, who apparantly never ran out of extremely funny jokes. Clint Walker remains one of my all time favorite actors and Cheyenne is, in my opinion, the finest western ever put on television.
Gerald Mohr was a closeted comedian. He appeared on I Love Lucy as a psychiatrist...Treatment Ricky Treatment. He also appeared several times on the Jack Benny program parodying his role as a western villain. Too bad he died so young.
I just loved L Q Jones on Cheyenne but I’m glad he went on to have such a fruitful career. Clint Walker was so believable in Cheyenne that as a child I thought Cheyenne was a real man. Clint Walker was just as wonderful as the character he brought to life. Absolutely the best western ever!!!
After seeing Mohr play Doc on Maverick, I always liked to think thay he would have reprised his role as Doc Holliday again opposite James Garner who was playing Wyatt Earp in 1967's Hour of the Gun. Instead of Jason Robards. Not to take anything away from him but I liked Mohr playing Holliday on Maverick. But then he was replaced by Peter Breck as Holliday. Even though some of these actors died young like Mohr, and I wasn't born until the early 1990s I grew up watching re-runs of these shows, from Maverick to Cheyenne, Stev McQueen's Wanted Dead or Alive, all being filmed around the same time late 50s in the Warner Bros lot. I feel sad that now only a couple of them remain. Clint just died a couple years ago and he really came off as a Guy straighter than an arrow with a heart as big as his body was. Now L.Q. and maybe the other Clint, Eastwood are probably the only ones left still kicking, as James Garner passed back in 2014. And deep down we know that in a couple more years, they'll be gone too as it's already July 4, 2020. I'm sad for that. But glad that theyll get to live on through these classic westerns and it's up to us to show the next generation who they were so that they're never forgotten.
WOW, this was great!! LQ Jones is so funny!! I never knew that about him. Always enjoyed his acting. Could never picture Lee J Cobb as being funny, either, always think of him in 12 Angry Men, but have seen him in a lot of movies too. And Clint Walker...well what can I say??? Thank you soooo much!!!! Absolutely luv these guys!!!
I just found this channel a while back and I have to say that I have been blown away being a western fan my entire life being raised in Montana Wyoming westerns are it and to see you bring all these actors together and the stories I'm just absolutely I'm in heaven and we'll watch every episode that I can
I have always loved my westerns and have always love Clint walker he was a real hero so sweet and down to earth and Mr l q Jones you are such a wonderful actor also playing the villain was my favorite i have all my western photos in frames including Mr Clint walker and the high chapparal and hop along Cassidy to me there is nothing like a great western cowboy show Mr Jones I'm so glad that you are still with us I love all of you guys dearly you seem so humble and sweet as well and what a great interview keep up the great work
LQ. Jones was such an awesome actor that I loved, loved, loved everything he was in!! He was even awesome in you're interview! I remember the Cheyenne shows and always wondered why L.Q? Jones want still in them. I still watch Cheyenne on the multiple Western channels over and over. Thank you so much for doing these interviews on westerns❤️❤️‼️‼️
Hello, Rob. LQ, ... what a standard he is and was. It seemed for a while that you weren’t watching a real western unless LQ was on it. I loved him on the screen and during his interviews. He did open a bit of a door that needs to be mentioned. That door would open with you in the chair LQ was in. Your history and insight is exceptional, and I hope to hear some of your stories. Thanks, Rob, never stop.
I just read on MeTV that we lost L.Q. And he just wasn’t supposed to die on us he was so funny and I was going to ask if you could have him on again and I just still am shocked losing him and then it also said Andrew Prine died too boy you are going to have to get the older ones that are available and do interviews Fast!🙏🇺🇸🤩
Always loved L.Q.Jones character's in movies ans T.v. Loved the story about the bellboy! Its was hilarious! Cheyenne is 1 of my top favorites. R.I.P Clint.
When I was a young boy theneighbors called me Little Cheyenne because I loked him and his show so much. I always wondered why LQ wasn't a full blown star. He sure would have been a good leading man if given thechance.
This was a fantastic interview...as I have stated before, it is a pleasure to watch you interact with the guests...you never interrupt them and each interview gets better and better. Thanx!
Wow this was one of the best . He talked about Jock Mahoney and Dick Jones two of the best cowboys ever.L Q was funny and so very interesting .Just great
What LQ did on the Cheyenne show is an example of true character, selfless friendship and how to lose money! But he continued to be regularly employed and has aged well - nice to see him still around in his 90's!
We did a memorial tribute to L.Q.'s old University of Texas college pal, Morgan Woodward, and I'm hoping to have edited a nice piece for Morgan's Sept 16th birthday. Stay tuned!
My mom was at Univ of Texas with him. I believe she knew him back then. I didn't know he directed "A Boy and his Dog", I love that movie! and he is correct after Ben Johnson (watch him as trooper Tyree ride at a full gallop in the John Ford cavalry trilogy), Glen Ford was the second best riding cowboy also a real life fast draw. I heard the "gun trainer" talking about how fast Ford could clear leather... the fastest in Hollywood he said. Excellent interview!
Another great character actor. Tremendous influence on the western genre but also versatile enough to appear in many non-western themed shows. My favorite? His appearance as County Commissioner Pat Webb in Martin Scorsese's "Casino". Made a huge impact in his short scene and set the ball in motion for the DeNiro character's downfall!
L.Q.JONES one of my fave people..loved him in the movie . The Edge' with Anthony Hopkins and alec baldwin..another great interview..thanks for posting .i worked on Jack warners home in palm springs in 1985 met him and his son and his wife..really nice guy very great person to know..his house was awsome and the pool at his home was one of a kind..
LQ - great actor in his own right. Love his performances.

We did a memorial tribute to L.Q.'s old University of Texas college pal, Morgan Woodward, and I'm hoping to have edited a nice piece for Morgan's Sept 16th birthday. Stay tuned!
im glad there are legends who worked in the business in the golden age that are still around L.Q. is a great character
L.Q. and Clint great people! Thanks for another great video Rob.
I Loved L.Q. He was honest ! He was also so funny 😆🙏🇺🇸😃🤩
Love Mr. L Q. Seems like a really good person.
L.Q is one of the last original guys. He worked with the greats. Wild Bunch, etc. A pleasure to listen to his history.
I love L.Q. Jones! I want to recognize his work in A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION, because he was so sweet in that film.
