  • Today I’ll be unboxing, setting up, and reviewing the Epson ET 3850 ecotank printer. I purchased it to be able to created and sell planner inserts and dashboards on Etsy. I’ll also be print testing on 110lb/199gsm cardstock.

    Love your explanation on how to print on cardstock. I use this type of paper for making birthday cards for my grandkids. Your method and explanation for printing on premium presentation paper made my card come out looking way better/vibrant than on the plain white bright paper. I also was doing 2 sides, so I learned to do that manually. The ink usage is amazing on this printer! Thanks again for posting this easy method of printing on cardstock!

    Regarding the ink levels: remember when first setting up and filling the ink tanks, the ink gets fed from the tank through the pipes to the print head, so that's why the levels drop straight away! So it wasn't your initial prints that made the ink level drop that much! Also, after filling the ink, there will be a small amount left in the bottles - hang on to this, as after you have run the initialisation when first filling the tanks, the levels will drop as I said, so you can then top up the ink tanks using the small amount left in the bottles - this almost refilled the ink tanks to the max again for me!

      Hi yes I thought I mentioned that in the video but must have forgotten. But yes you are absolutely correct. You can top off the ink with the extra after it does all the test prints. ❤️

      @@nperfectplans Just got ours yesterday, but must now get some inkjet-specific glossy paper for photos as the stuff we had for the previous laser printer that the ET-3850 has replaced is no good as the coating inhibits the ink absorption. This printer is soooo much easier to setup and operate than any other we've had before. Greetings from the UK!

    Oh NO! No CD drive in your computer? NO WORRIES! I bought an LG portable CD/DVD drive from Best Buy. Cost me about $20,00. Plugs into a USB port. Works great. Glad you mentioned card stock. Just got me ET-3850 last week. So far so good. Thanks.

    May I ask what setting you input on the actual printer itself? I’ve been trying to print on 110 pound card stock paper and it’s not working.

    I’m wondering if the settings for the paper and all that that are on the screen on the printer is even needed to be adjusted if you’ve already adjusted it on the computer? I would think the settings on the printer itself is if you’re not using a computer for settings.

    • @nperfectplans

      Honestly I haven’t tried it that way but that’s a good point. There may be no need to adjust the printer settings when when printing directly from the computer.

    Actually looking at getting this same model. Epson claims it won't handle anything heavier than about 24 pound paper. Have you had any issues with cardstock jamming in this printer? Would really be happy if it does handle cardstock without issues!

    • @nperfectplans

      The card stock I use in this video is the thickest I used and it prints good. Never had an issue with jamming and I’ve printed a lot. But of course the thicker the paper you use the slower it prints. I was going to use this printer for business but when it comes to cardstock it prints to slow.

    Hi there, great video! I am looking to buy this printer tomorrow but I was just wondering how long it took to print sheet of the 110lb card shown in the video? I’m looking for a printer that prints lots of pieces of 200gsm a6 cardstock. Do you think this printer is a suitable option?

    • @nperfectplans
      @nperfectplans  Рік тому +2

      Hi! Great question. Honestly it prints pretty slow with thick cardstock so if you are planning to use this for bulk printing it may not be the best but for personal use I would absolutely recommend it,

    According to the user guide it says the heaviest paper this printer supports is 27 lbs. Have you had any issues using 100 lb. cardstock? Did it cause any damage, streaks or printer issues using cardstock? Thank you.

    Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this printer. I am considering it as well. Showing the print quality and printing on heavy cardstock was very helpful. 110# is heavier than the printer is rated for, but it looks like it did a fine job. That was a big concern of mine.
