He's so good for a teenager. 6 years younger than George Horne for context here. It's astounding, so glad Glasgow picked him up. Our future at 9 set up pretty well.
Maybe he needs to play further out in the backline since he likes to run. He reminds of All Blacks Beauden Barrett the way he runs. I will be keeping an eye on this exciting uprising player in the future. Better warn the nation. Much Respect. NZ👍🇳🇿
The only thing I would say is probably get a few more passes because his assist to score was class, but other than than great player with a bright future
@@MrArronMc Yeah, I agree. Bit of a shame for him that he’s come up in the Ali Price period. Dobie is too good not to have at least in the squad, if not on the bench for each test. Not to say that he won’t get plenty of caps but will always be second choice.
Horne has extended beyond this season, so can see Price leaving, his stock will have gone up following his summer the lions, so doubt we could afford to keep him anyway!
Omg so many of these comment he does is plenty stuff that half back does eg pass kick box kick. This is only highlights their not going to show normal passes or kicks
Excellent lone player, definitely not suited at 9, personally work better at 13, as he doesn't seem to like passing. At test level you have to stick to the role of the position.
I wouldn’t hide him at away 13... if anything 15, or 11 who loves to come in. But TBH I think the role of a 9 is radically changing in the last 3 years. Supporting lines way more important now, and defensive roles have changed (see Tate McDermott @ reds). Imagine this guy lining up against Dupont. Would love to see that, and hopefully will soon.
@Patrick Mellett not every scrum half is great at it tho lmao, from watching this highlight video... how do we know hes a quality half? Showed no proof of great vision when passing the ball...

well, thats perfect for a 9 then? you don't need a high top speed when you are mostly just sniping around the rucks and trying to find space. much more vital for a winger who is expected to run in tries from distance.
You know he’s going to hold onto the ball so you tackle every time he stands up from the base of the scrum. Other teams will ha Ez watched his games and picked out his faults. He needs to distribute the ball more and run less.
I think you need to watch full games, a highlight reel probably doesn't represent his actual distribution to running ratio. That being said, he will be a marked man and have to adapt at some point. That still means more players commited to marking him which will create space elsewhere.
He's good but too ball greedy and needs to kick more, he will get caught faking kicks from the scrum by good teams if he does it too much But he's young and will be very good and a game changer if he keeps working hard

All class Jamie.........best wishes..🇦🇺
‘ready aye Ready’ did I spot a Merchiston kit in there. 77-82, and still churning out talent.
He looks handy, given that a halfbacks chief job is passing from the base of the ruck or scrum, i would have liked to see much more of that

Maybe too much depth. If Dobie is number 2 to Price, Horne will be picked up by a premiership or French side pretty sharpish I would think
