There is a feed dog drop release screw that you can loosen. Instead of having to remove the feed dogs. I have a 1934 Singer 15k88 that is essentially the same machine. They work and look beautiful ❤️
I don’t have my machine near me or I would just look myself.
If you look at the whole assembly is it pretty easy to see if one is mechanically minded? Or does it just look like another set screw?
@@gibbyrockerhuntersorry for the delayed response but, it essentially looks like a larger version of the thumb screw that holds the presser foot onto the machine. If you tilt the machine back it'll be towards the front under the bed of the machine. Hope this helps ❤
@@matthewblalock4916 man, only three months ago seems like years. At the idea I had the idea I was going to pull my old favorite out of the shed and have her set up for me to fiddle with after a spine surgery.
Although I had a note in my head telling me to go grab it and look, I couldn’t remember why... now that I’m basically walking again maybe it’s time. Lol
Obviously no worries, thanks for the reminder! Trying to play in the garden is torcher, I should change gears a bit.
I have a sewing machine just like that one. It works so good though I would never change it, I love antique sewing machines. I have 18 different kinds.
It takes about two minutes to convert it back and forth. It's not permanent at all.
@@BridalSewing oh, in that case I might do that.
This is going to be me someday- with dedicated storage to boot
Maybe I need to check my settings but I couldn't understand a word she said hardly
There is a drop in feed dog cover plate for that, no tools required.
Yes! I have that part. I personally prefer just removing the dogs.
It may be good to use a darning foot otherwise if the fabric isn't held tight to needle plate the stitches have a better chance of skipping.
Yes, it has one on it now. This was just the original conversion. It does still work with the foot raised, it's how I run my juki and it works fine. A skipped stitch here & there doesn't show with heavy lace usually. But, when I have a machine that I would like dedicated to a certain type of stitch, I do like to set it up with the right foot.
If your singer is a 15, there is a nob on the bottom of the machine. Just turn the nob, and the feed dogs will drop.
Awesome
I have a machine like that but I don't know what I've got. It has no belt and is direct drive from the motor. Can you help?
It might be a potted motor? I'd have to see.
Google the serial number stamped on the plate on the machine. It will tell you.
Might be a Singer 15-91 like the one I have
15-91 and 201 models have direct drive motors excellent machines the 201 is the best
Can free moton be used on all sewing machines?
What is free thread?
@@BridalSewing free moton
No, it can't but some can be modified to do it. Some are made with a switch to drop the feed dogs to do it.
