Mount Chapin is one of the many beautiful summit hikes located in Rocky Mountain National Park. The best thing about this hike is that it’s short with a distance of only 3.9 miles roundtrip. However, the summit is located at 12,454 feet above sea level, so get ready for a nice incline of 1,463! This hike begins just off the Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain national park. Keep in mind it’s a gravel road that is only open for a few short months during the summer. You’ll hike through forest until you reach the open alpine tundra, you’ll cross many rock fields, and a hard .03 climb to reach the top of Chapin Mountain.
