I am a civil engineer with 36 years field experience. AAC blocks are good only if used properly. 1.Dont not use AAC blocks immediately on unloading. Keep at least 1 week in dry shaded area, with plenty of airflow 2. Do only 4 layers a day 3. Use only recommended adhesive, mixed mechanically and thickness of 3mm over blocks 4. Don't not cure with water 5. Provide continuous reinforcement Sill mat at 4rth block level and Continuous rc lintel 6. Do not rest beam of roof on blocks. Leave a gap of 1/2"..and ideally fill with PU foam 7. Have vertical ties for length greater than 6 m ( 20') 8. If possible build walls in top floors first and lower floors last 9. Use glass fibre mesh at all joints between concrete and block when Plastering 10. Always wait at least 2 weeks minimum before Plastering.. which can be cured 11. Groove cutting to be done only with cutter blade. 12. Apply putty ONLY after Plastering is fully cured and dried Follow all of the above and you will have a crack free ECONOMICAL building
Thank you sir. I've read the manufacturer guidelines and you are correct. I also make a tie beam every 4 block layer. I have a question however on the 4th suggestion. When you say do not cure wirt water what do you mean. I pour some water on them to clean the dust and offer some moisture. Otherwise the adhesive will dry fast and gives me little to no time working the block. Is this wrong?
Nice.. very useful information bro.. i have 2 question I am planning to construct independent house G floor only 1800sft 2bed room. 1) Can i use AAC blocks only to complete total construction. If yes please mention the suggested dimensions of AAC blocks for both Internal Partician Walls and external Outer walls. 2) I heard after few years AAC construction will start cracking. If it's yes how to prevent it cracking. Looking for your response thanks in Advance..

Which brick is cost effective - Porotherm bricks or AAC blocks? Which of these will reduce the heat and also which of these are earthquake resistant as many places in India are experiencing earthquake ? Can you please do a video explaining the differences between both of these bricks and reasons for you to suggest which one is the best? Also can we do gypsum plastering on these two bricks in order to avoid the usage of cement completely , its cost and heat absorption of cement? Hope to get a reply from you.
I agree with most parts , although there's a few sections I disagree with AAC has a embodied energy level of 3.6MJ/KG while clay is 2.5MJ/KJ , where I live bricks have a 100 year manufacture warranty and AAC a 20 year manufacture warranty , this is a concern .
after further investigations , I've figured out that the difference is in the volume , brick uses around 55 percent more energy when you measure it by the space it takes up , although this still doesn't change my longevity concerns .

He said that red brick had greater thermal conductivity, but I think he is wrong. I think red brick has greater thermal density. Aside from construction speed and and cost of red brick I would say it's better in every way.
R.c.c. made Blocks should made by Builders on diamention set as per requirement in construction . Once diamention of block is set it's use on portion of Building can be determined to set it's quality with regard to being fully solid or hollow or sandwiched on bolder stone or thermocool peace ,to minimise R.C.C. material in making of Block. Ground Floor Construction should be more stronger and heavy in weight comparing to upper floors , especially the use of blocks in walls gap between Structure pillars made in Ironic R.C.C. construction from the foundation of Building layout. As far difference of material and making labour involvement expenses of on sight made Blocks comparing to Clay made Bricks with its look, strength , finishing and area coverage in equal expenditure etc. Well advantages and dis advantage could surely be calculated to determine it's use acceptance for Building. Most Contract processed Buildings aren't reliable unless the Proprietor keeps himself present on sight and share Supervision . Lintel used iron rods if spread of it is kept close to each other , it's cost will go high unless use ,after it will get Ready ,is determined and accordingly less iron rods used in the process of R.C.C Floor construction. Knowledge in Building Construction with view to Material selection and proper use of it all these points are worth remembering to have beneficial return in proper Construction Supervision Work . There are so many Built Houses seen by their living Being which are quite Amazing compared to Professional Builders work. This gives advise that unless all the play is well understood one shouldn't start Construction. thanks. My Email arahimkhan@rediffmail.com and Mob 8853486995.

It's not advisable...putty can be applied on plastered or concrete walls...putty fills cracks and creates a base to receive paint

Strength wise brick masonry is better but ultimately walls don't take load in RCC framed structure...load will be taken by structural members
