I've seen Chris twice live before he died ( Two best concerts in my life and I have been to MANY LOL) even with the effects from the mic, that beautiful rich tone is alllll Mr. Cornell.

I second that motion... the underlying message of the song wasn't apparent to me despite hearing it hundreds of times until I heard Chris slow the song down.

"Seasons" is great because it's just Chris, his 12 string and one over dub. Pretty much a demo. While filming the movie "Singles" (1992), there was a fake set list for the band Citizen Dick (Pearl Jam with Matt Dillon playing the fictional band's singer). One of the songs was called "Seasons" and it inspired Chris to record the song which director Cameron Crowe put on the soundtrack (along with Soundgarden's "Birth Ritual"). Also, at one point during the movie you can hear Chris playing the "Spoonman" riff on an acoustic guitar 2 years before the song was released on Superunknown (1994).
I probably left another comment awhile ago but i go back to watch your reactions. These songs done within this performance were much more about his different style and his voice. I cried and cried when i heard this the first 20 times. I miss him do much. Thank you for seeing this for what it was.❤
Later in life (sniff), Cornell developed a warm tone but with that signature rasp that lent itself well to bluesier, laid back stuff. Glad to see you do a reaction to this wonderful performance.
Chris has a natural resonance to his voice
Great review. I love this version. Can't wait for you to react to his cover of one. Its just him live alone with his guitar so his voice really stands out and he sings into the mic instead of the habit he has of letting it rest under his chin. I know you know the Metallica version. As long as you also know the u2 song one you will really appreciate how creative it is. Miss pear jam but chris Cornell is a nice substitute.
Chris really shined in his solo stuff. I LOVE Soundgarden and Audioslave, but his solo stuff is where the magic is. He was a master at covering tracks. One of the best he has done is Metallica's 'One'. He uses the lyrics from Metallica's 'One' and the music from U2's 'One'. Back in the day, I never really understood the words to Metallica's 'One' and the darkness of the song until I heard Chris's cover. It is awesome.

I saw this for the first time, moments after learning of his passing. I sat at my desk and watched through tears.
Simply put, I believe this is and will always be the most hauntingly beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.

The man could *shift air* - One of his solo shows I went to, I was only a few rows back, & could hear him over the PA at points when he let rip!

What a beautiful version of this song. I may get battered in the comment section, however, Sinead's version is more emotional to me, and my favorite of all... Could be more of nostalgic feeling for me as well. I saw an interview with Sinead, maybe a couple years ago, but she said Prince slapped her in the face after her performance and it was the first time she had seen him since her recording of it. She said he said nothing, just a slap and a walk away. Who knows though?

The cello player is from a former band Rick Beato had first signed to a production deal back in the early 2000's. Something he mentioned in one of his more recent videos on why record labels suck.

The true original of this song was by a band called The Family, which included the twin sister of Revolution guitarist Wendy Melvoin.
True original meaning this band released this song first (1985). Prince recorded it first but didn't release it until years later.

I can understand why people love Sinead's version. Chris's is more bluesy so of course that's going to be my choice. I don't know why people continue to feel the need to compare Chris to Eddie, guys that were very good friends who appreciated their mutual differences. Let it go people. By doing this you're actually tarnishing a brotherhood. Not cool.
