Ok this was like the perfect decor dupe diy for me haha 😍 I redid our powder room in August and have the EXACT same builder grade mirror that we took off and replaced with a gorgeous brass one. I tried putting clay maché on exposed cardboard edges. That did not turn out well. The outer layer of carboard delaminated. Definitely seal edges. In fact, you might do well to seal the entire surface before putting wet clay on it.
