You often had the popular vote, so if the US was a democracy you would have won. But the popular vote doesn’t matter because the US isn’t a democracy. The US is a Constitutional Republic.

Realistically, most states would receive very few or even zero visits from candidates. It’d probably be Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and New Hampshire getting most of the visits in 2020. The others would essentially be wasted funds as they’re unlikely to flip.
