Eklund is IMO one of the top 3 players in this draft. Feel like he should be listed above Johnson and Edvinsson for sure. Great two way game, exceptionally smart player, uses small spaces to his advantage, and gets the puck in/into dangerous areas better than anyone else in this draft. Reminds me a lot of a Sam Reinhart/Henrik Zetterberg type of player with legit top line upside but who could feast on a second line.
I’ve really come around to the wings picking Wallstedt. In my eyes, we really need a 1C and another blue chip defenseman. If we fall in a range where we are out on Power, Edvinsson, or Clarke I feel zero regret going for Wallstedt. Then pray we get lucky in the draft lottery in 2022 or 2023 for Bedard or Wright
Yeah given that this is a heavy defenceman draft in the top 10 it wouldn’t be a bad call to go with one of those guys. It would be a dream scenario to complete the wings rebuild with Wright or Bedard in the next two years

I see Wallstedt getting selected at #6 by Detroit. Yzerman knows who he has within the system and this video is spot on. With the wide openness of this draft, its a perfect time to use the pick on a Franchise goalie. At worst, he can trade him in two years if Petruzzelli makes the jump to the NHL and becomes a #1 starter full time.
I agree with most of the fits except for wellstedt as a fit for Ottawa as an Ottawa fan we have like six goalies and a few of those goalies have good potential so I think we might go for an offensive player

D needs a veteran that's not zaitsev. unless the sens get the 1, they shouldn't draft a defenseman.

They desperately need goal scorers which is why they drafted Jack Quinn last year over the consensus better player in Marco Rossi.
They got that in docker though power would be nice too. Personally I agree about defense but more like a great offensive right shot right side defense to compliment Sanderson Sanderson & Clarke Chabot & Docker Branstrom/Klevin & Thompson/Zub Would be amazing

Wallstedt to columbus wouldn’t make sense, even it they trade one of thier goalies they have Tarasov coming. Power and Seider for the next decade on the Wings bluebline would be crazy
Every team in the league can use Beniers. That doesn’t mean he should go in the top 5. Maybe even top 7. I just don’t think he has a high enough ceiling to take that early. Hughes, Power, Eklund, Guenther would all be a great fit for, the first 5 teams drafting. The same for like 3 other players or so. Kent Johnson probably isn’t one of them. He is a winger in the nhl as you say, so again, but not a top 5 pick. And I’ll repeat myself when you get to Clarke. And the Redwings really need Wallstedt more than any other player. They still have pick 22 to draft a center, and 2-4 more years of being a lottery team to draft forwards and Dmen in what should be much better draft classes than this. Wallstedt is the best player, the most talented and elite player in this entire draft. Probably the best GK drafted since TB picked Vas. Yup, better than Knight and Askarov and Samsonov. If there is any year to draft a GK early in the 1st round, this is it. Cossa is very good, but not on Wallstedt’s level, not even close. And this is definitely the weakest draft class in years.

Zadina is looking like a 2nd line guy as well, though I admit he still has 1st line potential (nothing wrong with this.) Raymond could be a star but the jury is out. I'm excited about Berrgren too. Our forwards are fine but I want to see elite. I can only think of Raymond and Berrgren (and a very small chance with Zadina) who MAYBE can get to elite. I personally think spending money on skaters is a better way to win a cup than goalies. Best example: Matt Murray has 2 cups, and Carey Price has 0. But again...I wouldn't be mad with Wallstedt
The Sabres don't need another LHD at the top end of the draft. The Sabres have taken a LHD in the 1st round in 2 of the past 3 drafts. A 200 ft center is the #1 need for the Sabres. Clarke being a RHD is a better fit if the Sabres go D.

As a Coyotes fan at least we got penalized in the right year, the first round this year appears to be weak. I am expecting a lot of early to mid round hits because a lot of prospects weren't able to make a jump in the rankings
As a stars fan, I am kinda sad that we didn’t make the playoffs because we had the talent and we were going to have Seguin and now we have to settle on probably a late lottery pick in this weird and not so good draft class oof but if we had a pick from like the 10-15 range hopefully we will take Cole Sillinger and if we jump up for some reason, we should take like a Kent Johnson or a Dylan Guenther or somebody like that to be on the 2nd or so line for the future
As a Wings fan I can see the logic in taking Wallstedt first, however we're also in desperate need of a center so if it was a toss up between Wallstedt and Beniers then it's Beniers for me. I wouldn't rule out Chaz Lucius either BTW. I fully expect Power to go first but it really could be any of these guys (except perhaps Wallstedt), we may have a better idea once the "lottery" has taken place. Would be a nasty top pair but personally I'd pair Seider with Albert Johansson, and Power with Hronek.. It would balance out the top four and I think Seider and Johansson's game compliment each other very well. Also really like Clarke! Even though Detroit has a surplus of right-handed defenseman. They don't have a future power play quarterback like Clarke.. Hronek could move to the left to his one timer side..

@@bjl687 I think later picks are going to be golden in this draft. A lot can happen er change over the course of a season as far as prospect development. Look, a kid that was a "potential" draft pick 12 months ago could have developed into a top 10 pick over the course of this past year and few GM's or scouts would even be aware of it because the kid didn't play - or played sparingly.. I mean just because some of these kids didn't play (much) over these last 12 months doesn't mean they stopped developing.. So yea, you can bet there are plenty of kids out there whom were probably unnoticed a year ago, but now are legitimate NHL prospects and few know it... I think there will be a lot of legitimate NHL prospects who won't even get drafted.. So over the next couple of years don't be shocked if NHL teams hit gold with undrafted free agents - and of course 10 years from now there will be some complacent UA-camr making a video on "How dumb these GM's were for passing on X, Y and Z in 2021" lol... Oh, we all know that video is coming in 10 years, lol.. Look, as a Hawks fan I really hope the scouts have been as active as possible over these last 12 months because I'm absolutely certain there will be absolute steals to be had in this draft. So if I was a GM, I would double down on this one and try to acquire as many picks as possible regardless of the round - because the more picks you have the more chances you can really take advantage of this situation and perhaps find the next superstar or even Hall of Famer.
Why do you have the Sabres as best fits for only 2 defensman and of the 4 the worse ones. If we're trading Eichel, and Rienhart is walking after next year if not traded, we only have Cozens as real C depth. IMO Beniers is not only the top pick in the draft but also the best fit for Buffalo. Sabres pick 3rd, we HAVE to walk away with Beniers or Eklund IMO, but if someone they go 1-2 and we pick 3rd, then Hughes/Clarke and maybe Guenther are my next 3. I want nothing to do with Owen Power

At the time of this video, we used the bottom 6 teams based on point %, LA was just outside so that’s why they weren’t included. But yes, agreed they need a D and there’s a lot of good options for D this year

I rarely if ever make critical comments of videos on youtube, but seriously, i stopped half way through. Would have been easier to just draw up a list, say here are the top eight players as we see it, and they're all really good fits for Detroit, Columbus and Ottawa.
Are you high? Clarke and Ottawa are the perfect match made in heaven. Hometown kid, life long sens fan, and is a right shot potential top pair guy which is exactly what the sens need right now and is the perfect partner for Jake Sanderson. Sanderson, Chabot, and Branstrom are litterally ALL left handed left side defense. Branstrom got Zub now, Chabot has Docker, but Sanderson needs a perfect compliment to his game on his right side, and Clarke is exactly that for Sanderson. 3 pairs that perfectly compliment each other is exactly what Ottawa needs, and a hometown kid to boost ticket sales as well? Yes please. There is no better player team match than Clarke Ottawa in this draft with McTavish being the 2nd best option for Ottawa based on where they stand.

Power can't really fit anywhere better than Detroit.
Power and Seider on the same pairing would be an absolute disaster for other teams.

He would be a solid pick for them given where they are in the rebuild. With his potential it would be worth taking a chance on a goalie early

My thoughts on this draft are that the best player in this draft wont be selected in the first round.
Very, very possible. Having any pick is going to be rewarding because lack of play from youngsters leaves a lot open to interpretation. Here's to hoping my squad gets lucky !
@@bjl687 I think later picks are going to be golden in this draft. A lot can happen er change over the course of a season as far as prospect development. Look, a kid that was a "potential" draft pick 12 months ago could have developed into a top 10 pick over the course of this past year and few GM's or scouts would even be aware of it because the kid didn't play - or played sparingly.. I mean just because some of these kids didn't play (much) over these last 12 months doesn't mean they stopped developing..
So yea, you can bet there are plenty of kids out there whom were probably unnoticed a year ago, but now are legitimate NHL prospects and few know it...
I think there will be a lot of legitimate NHL prospects who won't even get drafted.. So over the next couple of years don't be shocked if NHL teams hit gold with undrafted free agents - and of course 10 years from now there will be some complacent UA-camr making a video on "How dumb these GM's were for passing on X, Y and Z in 2021" lol... Oh, we all know that video is coming in 10 years, lol..
Look, as a Hawks fan I really hope the scouts have been as active as possible over these last 12 months because I'm absolutely certain there will be absolute steals to be had in this draft. So if I was a GM, I would double down on this one and try to acquire as many picks as possible regardless of the round - because the more picks you have the more chances you can really take advantage of this situation and perhaps find the next superstar or even Hall of Famer.
Why do you have the Sabres as best fits for only 2 defensman and of the 4 the worse ones. If we're trading Eichel, and Rienhart is walking after next year if not traded, we only have Cozens as real C depth. IMO Beniers is not only the top pick in the draft but also the best fit for Buffalo.
Sabres pick 3rd, we HAVE to walk away with Beniers or Eklund IMO, but if someone they go 1-2 and we pick 3rd, then Hughes/Clarke and maybe Guenther are my next 3. I want nothing to do with Owen Power

At the time of this video, we used the bottom 6 teams based on point %, LA was just outside so that’s why they weren’t included. But yes, agreed they need a D and there’s a lot of good options for D this year

Hometown kid, life long sens fan, and is a right shot potential top pair guy which is exactly what the sens need right now and is the perfect partner for Jake Sanderson.
Sanderson, Chabot, and Branstrom are litterally ALL left handed left side defense. Branstrom got Zub now, Chabot has Docker, but Sanderson needs a perfect compliment to his game on his right side, and Clarke is exactly that for Sanderson. 3 pairs that perfectly compliment each other is exactly what Ottawa needs, and a hometown kid to boost ticket sales as well? Yes please. There is no better player team match than Clarke Ottawa in this draft with McTavish being the 2nd best option for Ottawa based on where they stand.
