I’m about 1,000km directly above you in northern Canada 🇨🇦
there’s a reason no one has an EV up here..
average temp past few winters has been minus -49c with tons of snow.. my Hummer’s and Jeep’s are not garaged and they are reliable .. a Tesla needs to be garaged in the extreme cold or extreme heat..
EV owners still don’t realize there’s no such thing as a Zero emission EV as Musk and others like to claim...follow the plug 🔌 from your EV .. unless your in Cali or other sunny states and you see the solar panels hooked up to your charger your using electricity made from Coal or oil or diesel power plants
even during rain cloud or night your charger will be using Coal or Oil or Diesel fuel to charge your EV..
also check where your EV Lithium battery packs are getting their Cobalt from

Contrary to what the stigma was, that car was just about as fast as my 3.8L GM and it was like an R/C racecar around town. He also said that car does good in 4" snow if studded tires. I liked the car, other than the hatchback is too small. He said it gets 39-45 mpg during the winter, since the battery is older now.

This reinforces my opinion that what I REALLY want is the Tesla drive system and batteries in another, regular car. Too many stories like this about substandard quality, iffy roadside assistance, and bad dealership experiences. In hod rodding the latest thing is doing Tesla EV conversions to other cars. Yeah, due to less than great aerodynamics you won't get the range of an actual Tesla, but you won't have to wait three months for suspension control arms and electric door handles either.

    • @jetvalmonte6574
      @jetvalmonte6574 2 роки тому +2

You nailed it. If Toyota made Toyota cars with Tesla drive trains, you’d have pretty much the best of both worlds. Toyota build quality with Tesla’s high tech electrics avid electronics. Sure cold weather driving can be detrimental to range, but as long as you know what to expect, you can prepare for it. Anyways, at the present time, for me the best real time, real world option is a Toyota made plug in hybrid. If only they made the Prius Prime with a 50 mile battery, that would seal the deal.

Yes, a Tesla is a good car from a technical standpoint. However, there are three things to consider. Lithium is not recyclable (no battery is really just that alkaline and manganese are less toxic), and can cause serious environmental damage. Comparable to storage in the mountains or some secure location as would with nuclear waste. People rely too much on the automatic GPS-oriented and sensor tracking as to replace driving, so they fall asleep at the wheel then automatically wake-up at their destination. Safe and sound or tragedy awaits? Battle of electric versus gas, there must be a much better solution aside from charging and fuel prices aside from the cost of the car. Fuel should be made from sewage (human and animal waste) that is much cleaner for the environment and natural. Fossil fuels and batteries with toxic waste not the way to go. Batteries drain quickly in the cold, and cold batteries take much longer to recharge, even shortens the lifespan. Batteries very expensive to replace up front, and make the vehicle much heavier. If batteries the future, then at least make the fuel cells from natural sources that are renewable. Lithium, nickel cadmium, and such are not and will run out much faster than fossil fuels will.

As transportation becomes more and more electrified, what does that mean for transportation industries like couriers and freight trucks? A lot of truckers drive over 600 miles a day, and time is a critical factor. Transportation services lose a lot of money for every minute they're not on the road, so bigger trucks need bigger batters, and bigger batteries are going to take more time to get their full range back, regardless of the wattage a charger produces. Battery powered vehicles aren't a good solution for everyone, and all batteries aren't good for the environment, they can't be recycled infinitely like glass, aluminum, and hydrogen. The new Tesla models are garbage, there is NO reason as to why the wipers should be LOCKED on auto when on cruise control (maybe auto pilot) but not cruise control. The amount of time the wipers goes on when it's a bright sunny day because of this is absurd. They can only be turned off when not on cruise control or auto pilot.
Given the amount of people that have complained about this, you'd think Tesla would release a new software update addressing this by now.

Ok I’m 3:45 minutes in and I have a few problems with this. As the title suggests this is about “10 problems of owning a Tesla” and for the first thing he said that they are not eco friendly witch is not a problem when I own a Tesla. And for the fourth one he said that they have regenerative braking witch is a “problem”for new unexperienced drivers , but the fact is this can be turned off in car settings. For number 5 it does not take an hour and a half to fully charge your Tesla on a supercharger for the base model y it only takes 45 minutes and for number 2 this guy needs to watch more wham Bham Tesla cam because while auto pilot does sometimes get you into accidents it a lot of the time saves people.

Lots of errors in this video
At 1:30 he said "a bike might suite you better and the world too", then shows a motorcycle. A motorcycle has essentially NO emissions control, and put out about 10x more than an SUV when it comes to nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.
At 1:45 he says Tesla does not have the history to guess the market value of used cars. If you search now, 2-3 year old Model 3's are selling about 85-90% the value of new.
At 2:10 he says you cannot recycle the cars. No...you cannot recycle the batteries, but the cars will still work with a new battery, so essentially, the car is recyclable.
At 3:07...it is supposed to be spelled BRAKE not BREAK. Also, regenerative braking will give more life to the pads/rotors.
At 4:15, heat pumps are standard in 2022, much less of a problem in the cold.
At 4:20, Teslas are specifically not any more difficult than any other vehicle in snow, depends how you drive. If you have a turbo Subaru and punch it, it will lose traction too.
5:00...This is not specific to Tesla. ALL electric vehicles take longer to fill than gas.
7:00, Autopilot does not mean "self-driving", it is an assist. An airplane autopilot doesn't mean the human pilot can just go to sleep. They have to also "man their station".
