    There is a possible error in the story about the black holes and star formation: In discussing the three colliding galaxies, you mentioned a trail of dust stretching "200 million light-years". You also said this was twice the diameter of our (Milky Way) galaxy. The Milky Way is 100 *thousand* light years in diameter. Did you mean to report that the gas trail behind the black hole was 200,000 LY long?

    • @kylekyle7386
      @kylekyle7386 Рік тому

      I noticed that too. 20 million divided by 100,000 light years diameter of Milky Way would be 200 times the diameter of Milky Way. He probably just misspoke.

    I really like the shirts, Chris Hadfield once crossed his fingers and said "that's not how astronauts deal with risk" referring to the concept of luck. Having a shirt with that same type of message would be really cool and I would probably buy it. The clip can be easily found on UA-cam and is from his master class I think

    uh... Quick correction: The Andromeda Galaxy is 2.54 (ish) million light years from us. How could the Milky Way be 100 million light years across? If the Milky Way were that big, Andromeda would be well inside the Milky Way. Oh, and Andromeda is bigger than the Milky Way.

    Small correction at 9:17 - The gravitational pull of supermassive black holes at the centers of galaxies isn't really what holds everything in the galaxies in orbit. Rather, the things in galaxies orbit around their collective center of mass, where the black hole is located. So if the black hole were to suddenly disappear, everything in the galaxy would stay in orbit, cause it's everything pulling on everything else that makes up most of the force.

    To clean dust off of the suits, why don't they use an electrostatic mesh? This mesh could be built into the suit. It can also be set to constantly repel dust or set for a pulse which would repel dust. NASA has been working on this for some time now.
    It might also be possible to create an electrostatic brush out of a mesh and some power to remove dust on the fly.

  • @colinbarnard6512
    @colinbarnard6512 Рік тому

    The simplest solution is always the best. NASA's A7L initially had an overgarment over the pressure vessel. It could easily be removed, and replaced. One wouldn't have to clean the entire suit, as the overgarment would protect it.

    Here's some questions I would love to know
    1) How is spacex handling the launch noise for protecting humans inside? I just know it's super loud.
    2) How long will it take starship to complete 1 orbit of the earth?
    3) Can a falcon or falcon heavy be used to reach the moon with supplies?
    4) Can starship reach the moon and back without a refuel?
    5) How many starships will it take to fuel up another starship for a transport to Mars?

    Kewl ! First decent piece I've seen done on Moon Dust here on the Tube. Moon Dust was a serious problem for the later extended Apollo Missions and caused Many problems NASA is reluctant to disclose. The new Axiom Suit was a mid-contract takeover from NASA because of serious Cost and scheduling overruns. A major reason for the Cost overruns had much to do with Moon Dust abrasion and it's electrostatic charge. I guess the new suit has the ability to Reverse those static charges and help shed the Dust. Add the liquid nitrogen blast cleaning and they may have a solution . . . for the Suit. There's still plenty of Equipment being built to work out on the Moon's surface aside from Space Suits, and they've got to deal w/ this self-adhesive powdered grinding compound as well. Nitrogen is plentiful and cheap here on Earth but there's no Nitrogen on the Moon, so you've got to transport it 250K miles just to clean ur Suit. I think the jury's still out on how and who is gonna find a way to deal w/ this stuff in the long term.

    We still need a lunar bulldozer/loader.
    This will need to be a high mass vehicle to carry out regolith moving activities, landing pad prep, habitat covering for radiation protection, etc.
    No lander proposed can deliver a load like this. (starship would tip over if lowered out the side as has been illustrated.)
    Should start planning for delivery of high mass awkward cargo to be ready to deploy by 2030.
