  • In today's episode we will look at the renovation of an old German aircraft lamp. BAT 100-1.

If you have any questions about the process, use machines or other things, ask me in the comments. I try to answer everyone and as soon as possible.
I'm sorry for my bad English, it's not my language.
I'm uploading videos about recovering mechanical things. I'm uploading videos about restoring old wooden things. I fix things as I can. I am self-taught. Therefore, if some practices are bad, then forgive me. Thank you.

Thanks for your advice on how to improve this channel!

    action index:
    00:01 Introducing the lamp
    00:35 Dismantling parts
    05:45 Removing asbestos seals.
06:25 On the brass part I used a "brass cleaner" consisting of several kinds of acids.
07:40 Clean brass parts with distilled water.
08:15 Drying was followed by polishing with a rag wheel and polishing paste.
09:50 Polishing paste residues can be easily removed with cleaning petrol or acetone.
12:00 I used a common kitchen cleaner to clean the bakelite parts.
12:50 Glue the cracked part of bakelite with two-component glue.
after drying, sand it with fine sandpaper of P2000 roughness and then varnish with clear varnish.
16:00 We have all parts ready and can be assembled.
22:55 Copper soldering tip remains. Good to have spare parts :))
25:15 Comparison before and after renovation.
25:54 Test. In fact, it seems to me as a whole dangerous toy.

If you let it heat up enough and adjust the black knob needle valve properly, it will produce a much smaller blue flame. Thanks for sharing!

    Gracias Radek, saludos a Veronika.
P.D.: sigo tratando de ver todos sus videos, me va a tomar un rato, pero con cada video también aprendo una que otra cosilla. Gracias nuevamente

With any hint of asbestos, it is absolutely critical to minimise any dust and fine particles. I would recommend wetting down with oil or water before any mechanical intervention, AND wear a respirator whilst doing the removal. Beautiful result tho. I hope you and yours are safe and well in these tough times.

This might be a blow torch. Whatever it is, it's another careful and precise restoration. The brass and bakelite contrast is very attractive. Another inspiring Veradona restoration especially in these times when we all need some cheer. Best wishes from the USA.

You need to wet down the asbestos while working with it so any small fibers don’t get away. If you just brush it off, you could miss a few and they could kick up later and be inhaled. You don’t want to mess with that stuff. Just some advise. Beautiful job!

Btw, nice work. I have the same model, but aluminium body.
Just an info for all, don't use regular automotive gasoline/petrol as fuel. It damages the rubber parts inside the pressure valve.

And before ignition, don't forget to properly preheat the nozzle!
