Thanks for the review. I plan to see this movie soon. I highly recommend another great biker movie, although it's not necessarily about bikes but rather about an incredible bike journey
that includes some stunning scenery, crazy events along the way, and a brief stop in Sturgis South Dakota. American Dresser. If you're a Tom Berenger fan you'll be in for a real treat!
I'll check it out! Thanks for the recommendation!
It is very true old kick start motorcycle are very hard to start
I want to ride one....once!
@@RidingandWrenching You haven't lived until you pull your kick-start bike out after a long winter and after kicking it 50 times (not exaggerating) it finally kicks back and throws you over the handlebars and excitedly you think: It just might start in 10 more kicks! Thank God for electric start!
Danny Lyon the photographer/
author is a legend, his body of work is amazing.
The movie is very well done. Excellent story.
I ride with the CVMA Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. I was familiar with both Danny Lyon and Micheal Lichter's photos. A few months ago, while living in Louisville, I was on my Electra Glide cruising across a bridge to Indiana. The bridge looked familiar when my lady and I got to our destination I begin looking for the photo and discovered that not only was that the bridge in the photo but, a movie called 'The Bikeriders" was soon to be in theaters. It was a cool experience. Other than YT I stay disconnected from things. That bridge shot was while a Chicago club was setting up a Chapter in Louisville, it wasn't the Vandal's but, still a really neat experience for both of us. My lady and I saw the movie the night of the release and enjoyed it. Keep on rocking Shipmate!
That's very cool. I think they did a fantastic job with the movie.
I haven't seen the movie yet. I suppose I'll wait until it shows up on Netflix. You've definitely peaked my interest!
I'll be curious to hear what you think after you see it. It's a good movie with really good actors.
You never watch then came Bronson ?Billy Jack ?I had a few kickstart Motorcycles. Thanks for sharing and I’ll be checking on wings custom 👍🏾
I haven't, but I will check it out!
Thanks for the great review and your comments. We haven’t seen the movie yet but will soon.
Hope you enjoy it! It's a great movie
I used to ride with a half helmet all the time. I have transitioned to a modular a couple years ago and havent looked back. 🤷🏾♂️
I'm trying to make the transition. I still wear a half helmet during training and practice. Also, if I know my speeds will be low and it's a short trip, I'll wear a half helmet
I transitioned to a modular helmet love it is way better than the half helmet I rode with for 20 years
To the topic of the video movies almost always sensationalize violence and or sex to sell tickets unfortunately some movie goers think bikers or clubs are thugs
My 1st bike was a 1975 Honda CB200. It had both Kickstart and electric start. Of course I would ONLY use the Kickstart when trying to impress bystanders (girls). All 198cc...Lol. 23 years old in 1975 , the "fun" years.
I was just a kid in the 70's. I still love 70's music....Music began a slow death in the 80's and is completely intolerable now.
I haven't seen it yet, but plan to. Thanks for the review!
I think you will like it!
Thanks for the review. Not sure I will see the movie but...
As far as a kickstart, you might jump over to the "Bikes and Beards" channel. He does have a 40s kick-start motorcycle and has had several videos challenging people to start the bike. I believe he is in Tennesee now...
I'm going to see it now
I'm older and grew up on kick-start bikes. You aren't missing anything. I love electric start bikes. Fun channel
I bet. I still want to ride one just for the experience. I remember my dad having a motorcycle but I don't know if it was kick start....I was a small child
Movie mistake #1; When the person hopped on the back of the motorcycle, I was wondering the same thing. At first glance of the bike, it looked totally like a solo seat. When they got off, there was barley any room for a passenger. When the guy took off on the bike, he took up the whole seat. 🤔🤷🏾♂
When I saw the bike I wondered where she was sitting. I'm guessing that was one of the fake riding scenes. Most people probably won't notice that....it doesn't take away from the movie
"If you wanted a lesser phone" 🤣🤣🤣
Android users get salty when I throw shade at them!😂 all in fun!
@@RidingandWrenchingyeah, I caught that bro! 😂
Cue I was thinking of doung an EV experience channel a few days ago. I'll definitely have to check yours out. One question though.......why not a Mach E?
I haven't ruled out a Mach E. The Tesla is my favorite due to the Tesla charging network. The Mach E is a better looking car inside and out. I'm also a fan of Elon Musk....I love his attitude!
Cue thanks for the review. A question came to me whilst watching - " Are you a motorcyclist or a biker? If so is there a difference and what is it?" Just throwing that out there. Also, I'm curious about the "wrenching" in buying a Tesla🤣 I'm looking forward to the impression you get from the rental.
There is always wrenching to do! All machines break! However there are a lot fewer moving parts. I'm most interested in learning how we have to think differently to drive electric vehicles. As an example, the biggest mistake I made on the first half of my trip was "overcharging" the battery. We can't thing of it a charging stop like a gas stop. At a gas stop, you fill it up. At a charging stop, you ensure you have enough energy to make it to the next charging stop. It saves time doing it the right way!
There are some who say there is a difference between being a "biker" vs a "motorcyclist". Personally I think there are varying degrees of a biker. There are some that are much more hardcore than others: maybe their only transportation is a motorcycle or some other extreme scenario. I don't have the long history that many do, so I don't have the same attachment to the terminology. I ride a lot (abt 25,000 miles a year) which is more than most but not anywhere near as many as some (Ksolo and others). To me, a biker is anyone with a passion for motorcycles. I won't judge someone who rides fewer miles than I do (I don't want to be judged either!) besides "motorcyclist" has 5 syllables! That's too much! Biker rolls off the tongue easier!😂
I liked the movie. I was very interested in the bikes and the story. I ride with a modular helmet and recently an airbag vest. Protective gear will save you from dying on someone windshield. I have no desire top be a bug splat on some ones car . The vivid depiction was enough to convince me to wear the modular helmet and other gear all the time. Kind of a bummer though because feeling the wind in my hair and on my arms is exhilarating. It is less so with all this gear on but I want to keep riding so I will wear it.
agreed! I am going to wear more protective gear....even when it's hot!
Helmet laws came about in 1968. The police style cap with wings was popular.
Not liking easyrider dates you. You were not riding in the 60’s and 70’s.
I started riding 5 years ago. I grew up in the 70's.
In California the helmet law Jan 1-1992
Mr. Freeman oops my bad I meant Cue I use the HJC RPHA91 awesome modular helmet
Any full face helmet is safer than a half shell. I'm limiting the use of half shells to lower speed riding
@@RidingandWrenching I have a half shell I only use when I’m practicing in parking lots
I like your honest review, I'm 72 and still ride a hotrod Dyna, started on a kick only ShovelHead back in 74. I like that they kept the bikes realistic and didn't try using Honda Shadows with sissy bars to depict Harleys like some hollywood types would. I had seen a few Sons of Anarchy shows but didn't get into it and noticed that the people I saw wearing the T-Shirts didn't even have bikes and most of the people around me that would ask if I watch it weren't bikers. Wana be's ?
I've only been riding for 5 years. I rode with my dad a couple of times when I was a small kid, but didn't start riding until I turned 50. It was probably for the best that I started riding later in life as I was a bit reckless behind the wheel of a car.
This movie has given me the desire to ride one of those older bikes.....just for the experience. I don't need to own one.
@@RidingandWrenching I live on Maui now but back when I had the Shovel I lived in Victorville/AppleValley/Hesperia, High Desert. We rode ALL over the place on our kick start no windshield SuperGlides, Up to SF a bunch of times for the Harley drags at Fremont, Yuma Arizona for the run, Death Valley in Jan. every year, Toys for Tots in LA and to my Dads place in Boulder. There were 3 of us for that trip and twice we were in the middle of the desert hotter than hell and people came up beside us once in a van and once in a truck and handed all 3 of us cold beers while we were moving. On the way back from my Dads we did 700 miles in one day and night on those bikes, Were so tired we passed out laying in the dirt out side of Vegas until the boiling sun woke us up. By the way my Pop was an Air Force Fighter pilot but did a hitch of exchange duty with the Navy on the Bonhomme Richard in 57, flying the Fury, Navies F-86
@@JohnSmith-de2mz wow!! that is such a cool story! Thank you for sharing. I'd love to sit down with you and have a beer someday so that I could live vicariously through your story.
@@JohnSmith-de2mz did you wear goggles or glasses?
@@RidingandWrenching Sun glass's, we all did no way I ever rode without
Going to be checking out the movie just to see. Tom Hardy is a good actor and I hope doesn't disappoint.
@@mrjkjhoedog you won't be disappointed. Fantastic cast
I definitely want to check this movie out. You have to take everything with a grain of salt like sons of anarchy. It’s damn great entertainment! Good review Cue. I’ll be waiting for that EV review!
I'm just getting started. I'm planning to have several videos uploaded before I launch it. The channel is already up, just no content yet.
I haven't been to a movie in years and probably won't go see this one. Thanks for the review though. Buy a Tesla? You're a Ford man!!! You'll be excommunicated! LOL
It's a good movie. I don't go to the movies very often....seems like most movies aren't made for adults. Every now and then one pops up that I want to see. Oppenheimer was good, Ford vs Ferrari was OUTSTANDING.
I will always love Ford, but I want a Tesla!
This is one you can definitely wait until it hits the small screen.
I enjoy more of a Wild Hogs type group of riders.
Me too!
Most movies and shows that talk about clubs will always depict MC’s as negative, gangs, low life’s, killers, drug users, etc….It’s definitely stereotypical stuff.
absolutely. Nothing sexy about seeing a grown man go to work, pay bills, mow the lawn, attend little league games. I guess the best we could hope for is Wild Hogs. I'm not sure which one is worse!😂
Cue, if you remember me from RTTH4? We are motorcycle riders. A true biker is a person or club that doesn't own cars or trucks but only a motorcycle. Bikers ride 365 days a year a live off their bikes. Some 1% are bikers but not all.
I remember we had this conversation. I definitely don't ride every day. In fact, as Memphis gets closer to 100 degrees, my bike will likely get parked for a while! I think most people use the terms interchangeably. I have heard of a few hardcore bikers that don't own a car. That's too hardcore for me!
I hope to see you in September at Ocean City Bike Week. Are you riding here by yourself in a group or with another rider?
@@richardgeorge523 I will probably trailer my bike. My wife will come with me but she won't ride that far....I gotta work on her!!😂
What dates are the two of you going to be there? and are you staying in Ocean City?@@RidingandWrenching
@@richardgeorge523 I haven't booked anything yet. We will probably stay in Ocean City. Probably leave Memphis Wednesday after work. Plan to stay in Ocean City Thursday through Saturday. Return home Sunday morning
Not all MCs are criminal. Many do great charitable work. Its just all the stupid rules and drama that turns me off. Alot want to mimic 1%ers. I enjoy just riding with friends and doing our own thing.
Agreed! I don't like drama anywhere in my life! Fortunately my club is drama free.
Of course it does. But I don't believe it was a lie, probably downplayed a bunch
I'm sure there were some crazy time in the 60's. Movies like this take a nostalgic look back at those times. I think that is what I like the most about it.
Android lesser phone!!!!!! Your drunk old boy😊
😂I was just taking a cheap shot at Androids. It's a fine phone (if you like having the second best option)
😂 I don't know what to say I've just moved to the dark side and bought a s24 Ultra.
I like the way u slip in a lesser phone when u mention android Auto 🤔👀🤣🤣
I didn't slip it in....that was a slap!
IMHO, Aside from them FL bikes being in good nick and good to see...the movies a dud. Its a psych op.... a bad influence.
Just like Sons of Anarchy. A bad representation of bike clubs.....bad stuff happens in clubs but not the way most movies tell it.
One truth is violence breeds violence. Bike clubs are about bikes and are not about violence but violence can happen in any type of club for broken rules.
This movie is supposed to be based on a true story. Obviously they changed the name of the club....but I agree most clubs that I am familiar with are nothing like the "Vandals". I wasn't exaggerating when I spoke about my wife's reaction to the movie. I had to remind her that she knows everyone and we are not criminals.
Girl packing with no buddy seat. I rode with a guy that wedged a shovelhead into a knuckle frame. His pregnant old lady sat on the fender. She put her right foot on the kicker and rested her left foot lightly on the tin primary.
Holy crap! That had to be really uncomfortable sitting on a fender....and a little dangerous!
The movie was good, but not great. Interesting but no entertaining.
It's definitely violent! If you don't like violence, this movie isn't for you. It's a nostalgic look at how some people view the founding of motorcycle clubs. All bikers aren't like the ones depicted in this movie. I'd venture to say the overwhelming majority are regular people who enjoy motorcycles.
