Love this bag - I'd never really fancied it in the large size 😍 With the top handles it really reminds me of the Marc Jacobs tote bag.

I tried on the gray and a light beige Deauville in the boutique and they were smaller with a price of $3700. They had the black which was larger for $3800. I have several of the old size small and prefer it as I don't care for adding the leather handles because of the weight and trying to avoid animal skin more and more. That being said I loved the gray/blue one so much and like the smaller size.

Love your review and bag. I have the old style Deauville tote which I love, but I think the option to carry handheld is so great. I think the handles are longer on your bag just to accommodate the top handles as they do not lay down.

One guess I have for Fashionphile's larger measurement is that they also measured the sides with the fold that stick out to be 15" in length? If you look at the bag, the widest part of the bag is with the side folds out. I love the Deauville tote, it looks great on you. I would love to see you do a video on similar look bags but budget friendly. 😊
I have the small caviar leather deauville tote and it has the same measurements you got on your tote with the exception of the drop. My drop on the chain handle is 14 inches. I love the size of this tote, but would love a leather tote at 11 inches in width.

Yes, the black is a bit bigger than others. I almost bought a pink one. But after seeing it side by side with the black one, I decided to go get the black one since the black one is a bit taller and wider than the pink. I am just like you, feel safe with darker color handbag! I paid $3800 too!

Very interesting - have you tried calling Chanel customer service to verify? Maybe next time you’re in the store you can grab the product codes and check with customer service. They have a lot of information on the backend that boutiques and websites don’t disclose. I recently bought a cardholder and was freaking out because I realized it didn’t come with an authenticity card, and there was conflicting info about if Chanel was still providing them or not. I called customer service, gave my item number, and they were able to read off very specific product notes detailing where the new authenticity sticker was, the material of the sticker (oddly specific), and how it did NOT come with the authenticity card as now anything 22A and beyond doesn’t come with cards. I agree how Chanel keeps on making changes and it gets all confusing, but maybe verifying with them would give you peace of mind lol!
This is so crazy! I bought the exact same bag, in black with the champagne gold hardware, the day after it dropped a few weeks ago. FYI, it also comes in Silver hardware. I just measured it and is basically 13 x 10 x 6.5, I measured the bottom of the bag. I don't know why the measurements on line are so different. On line it says the small is $3700, mine is the new small but it was $3800. The large is $3900. I was comparing both sizes bc I wasn't sure which to buy. After seeing the price of the small on line I called my SA asking why mine was $3800 when the web says the small is $3700. My tag is the same as yours, the large shopping bag. That said, I thought mine had the wrong tag. She assured mine was the small and my price tag was correct, it was $3800. Crazy indeed!
BTW, they had a small Ivory one there too, it was gorg, but being fabric I opted for the black. I couldn't be happier with the color, the size and now that the small has top handles its perfection!
Little did I know, popping into the boutique to take a peek at what they had, that I'd come home with a new bag. I'm so happy I did tho❣️❣️❣️

Interesting! I was told mine was the “new small” size 🤷🏻♀️ and there was a much bigger size there that I compared it with and my SA said that was the medium. I’m seriously scratching my head! 😂 Either way, love the tote! Hope you’re enjoying yours too!
I was at my local Chanel boutique a few days ago and tried on 2 Small Black Deauvilles. Bag #1 - $3700 - 22?- Small Black with dark stitching but approximately an inch shorter.
Bag #2 - $3800 -22A ? - Small Black, an inch taller with a lighter stitching of the logo. My SA was confused when I asked about this too. My conclusion is that the newer version of Small Deauvilles is bigger and $100 more, based on what I saw at the boutique. Hope this helps!

Never did I think I would need to but I’ll showing up to Chanel with a measuring tape lol. I also wonder if this is to help with counterfeit. Certain yrs/collections or colors are slightly different.

So many people are commenting this same thing but the “large shopping” is a generic label on the tag. This is definitely not the large size Deauville, trust me. I’ve seen the large and it’s BIG. 😆
I have a small Deauville tote in grey without top handle from 2016 measures same 13.8x10.2x6.7" BUT retail then $2300+tax in US. I bought it in HK so only $2115 with tax. Therefore it has now almost doubled in price 6yrs later to get it with top handle...
PS I think Fashionphile used Chanel's website measurements for the pink, and someone hand measured the tan one.
Do you find that it pills on the part that rubs against your body? Have the exact same black color but the bigger one and its my first deauville, so I don't know if the pilling is normal??🙃
It’s too early to tell. I’ve been using the bag for about 10 days or so, and so far, I don’t notice any pilling but the black color does pick up some dust and lint. I’ll have to see if any pilling occurs over time. I’ll be sure to include this info in my upcoming review video. Just need to spend a few more weeks with the bag.
I purchased the same deauville tote as yours at the 31 Rue Cambon flagship store. My SA referred to it as the medium size. The whole new small and old small terminology is just too confusing! Thanks for your video!
I agree! Medium is a more logical way of describing the size!
Mine is a large. Bought it in 2022 of April so very new still. My size is 15 inches long, 13 inches height, 8.5 inches depth. I think yours might be the medium. Sizing tho is weird. I got mixed answers from SAs all the time lol. For my large I paid 3900. Small is 3700. I was between two sizes. The 3800 is the medium from what I understand. Maybe you got a small before a price increase that’s coming!! Possible…

So a month ago I bought the deauville tote bag (canvas/camel) to my surprise the measurements are 13.2” by 10 so pretty much the same measurements as your small bag but, my receipt says: “large shopping bag” and I paid $3.800 + taxes . I am confused!! 😫 this is definitely not a large bag. The other tag says: 22B S4. Would you be able to advice lol? This is my first Chanel bag 😅 thank you

I just measured the bottom of my new small Deauville in the pink color that you showed, and it’s 12.9 inches, whereas yours is 13.5. So strange!

Ahh interesting!! So that means there definitely is a newer small size because from what I understand, Samorga actually purchases the bags themselves so they can measure and size the inserts. I bet yours is the smaller one. Which color did you get?
I bought an insert from Samorga for the new small Deauville and it fits perfectly.

Mine is the bigger small (3800) and it measures 34cm and it seems like their new small insert is for the smaller small (3700) which measures 32.5cm. Samorga told me to just order the medium size but I am not sure. It takes way too long to get it shipped and I don't want to order the wrong size and have to wait again.

I'm confused because the price tag you show at 3:26 says that your bag is the large size? It would make sense if it's a large and the blue one was a small? That would also explain the price difference.

@@hellocatwalkcity I've seen a video from someone (don't remember their username now, sorry, but I believe Super Dacob has a video about it) who paid less than retail for their bag because the wrong tag was inside the bag she bought. If your bag was detached at the time you purchased it, is it possible you were over-charged and paid for the large size rather than the small even though you received the small bag?

Nope, “large shopping” is the generic label on the tag. I know mine isn’t the large size because I put mine next to the medium Deauville tote at the store and the one I purchased is MUCH smaller. It’s all just so confusing. 🤪

Your tag says “Large shopping tote” 30cm. I believe that’s the new medium size. I have the same size from the 21 collection, minus the pouch and it’s called the large. I guess the changed the sizes, Chanel is so unpredictable with their names and sizing.
Totally unpredictable! 😆 My SA showed me the medium size when I bought this one. It was SO much bigger than mine side-by-side. I shared a photo in my recent shopping Vlog.

is the bag heavy?
Oh I just weighed it for my most recent video and I was surprised that it came in at close to 2 lbs! It doesn’t feel that heavy 😳 but it weighs about 1 lb 15 oz including the pouch. Without the pouch, it’s about 2-3 oz less.

I was in the boutique yesterday and tried this on in the dark blue denim version, price was $3800. While I'm not a Deauville girl, I'd definitely recommend this bag. The size is great for every day!

Yes! I’m seriously confused with all of the Chanel Deauville sizing. I recently bought the same bag as you last week in the gray color. The Chanel website says it’s $3700, but when I received my bag and looked at the receipt it says I paid $3800. The tag on mine (also noticed on yours) says the size is Large, but my SA assured me that it’s the new small. I have an older Deauville tote in the “large size” which measures 15” at the base (w/longest length at the top 19.5”) x 11.25” x 7.5”. Now, that doesn’t seem like a “large” to me. I’ve compared my older large and new “small” and they are only slightly different in size. So, I love that your doing all of this reconnoissance for us. 🥸😉 Looking forward to learning what you find out. If it ends up that I just have to have one in each size, then that might be a problem. 😂 ~Christina
