4L80E Test fit in my LS Swapped Dodge Dakota

  • Racer X Garage Episode 173: Long overdue, but I was finally able to test fit the 4L80e behind my 5.3 in my LS Swapped Dakota. The previous TH400 fit really well with Holley's Hooker Blackheart Dakota Transmission Crossmember, so how about the 4L80E that im upgrading to? Also, check out the clearance on the Amazon 302-1 oil pan!

      Same, the old th400 was slipping pretty bad, but this trans is a little heavier. If i can get the 60 ft better with the cal tracks and new shocks, it should go faster! We shall see hopefully in the fall

    Awesome that everything worked so well together. You may find the lighter springs in the front end work best for dragracing as long as rhe truck still drives around good.

      They're too soft with all the weight up front, plus they're a little worn out. I need to lower and strengthen the front up a but, cause on drives it will bottom out on bad bumps or transitions. Some viking coil overs I think will fix both of those issues.

      How about driveshaft length? Any issues? I'm doing 95 dakota 6.0-4L60e

      Thanks for the kind words! When doing something like this, you'll have to get a custom drive shaft made to the length you need. I always recommend calling a drivetrain shop that builds them before you do to find out how they like the measurement made.

    That's awsome brother how the trans mount went right in. I am doing a Ls3/4L80 swap in a 03' Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I love the Vics. But I want power without dumping 20 grand lol. I found a Ls3 block for $500. I already had the internals and brackets and pretty much everything but the heads. And pistons/rings lol. I bought the Black heart engine conversion mounts for the 4.6l mounts to Ls. I can't wait. Looks good brother.
