Nice video Soren. I’m getting a ton of great content from your channel. I like how you to take a 3 bar line from a Coltrane solo and create a whole Pentatonic workout derived from that that. Nice. Thank you!
Thank you so much. I love the nerding of stuff - Coltrane is one of my greatest heroes. When really starting to listen intensly to all the greats there is so much info to get from them. In every phrase there is great voice leading, great timing, great articulation, great choice of notes, great sound and you can go on. Dig deep :) Lovin it!
Hi Alex, I think Coltrane is playing Bm7 (E7) without the E7 - into C. The 4th dominant - G7 - Bb7 - Db7 - E7 Thinking the sound into Am - playing Bm7 E7 > A. But playing into C The E7 to C sounds amazing btw.
Amazing gift. I know the C instruments are one down. I really recommend you to get the manuals on Patreon. 50+ pages every week of all examples in the lesson + lots of extras in all 12 keys. This is really one of the reasons I make the lesson manuals on Patreon. Let me know if it works. All the best Søren
I could, but I think it makes sense playing the tenor taking in tenor key. I really recommend you to go to Patreon to get the lesson manual, everything is written out in all instrument keys, alto, concert and bass notation. A real great help for the other instruments. I hope you succeed in deciphering. www.patreon.com/posts/97223424 Let me know what you think
@@sorenballegaardmusic I'm sorry if my comment seems agressive, I could have written that differently. But what I mean is that, if you speak in concert key, you talk to much more people that just tenor saxophone players.
@@wataday2day oh that's what you mean hahaha, yeah totally did not get that. Was a bit defensive sorry. In the comments there are often trolls. I thought about it indeed, but then all the alto and tenor players go miss, I am not sure there is a good middle way when I'm talking these specific lick thinks. Maybe the more general guide tone line things. But again I'm really a saxophone guy. I have a lot of followers that okay piano and guitar whom follow the lessons, some have the Patreon option. I think this will be the ever lasting battle of the different keys of the instruments. :) A great question. Thank you
I adore that flat six on the G7. Never looked at it like that.
Yeah that one opens up possibilities. Fun and nice
