Laurence Fox: Why I Launched the new "Reclaim Party" to Defend British Identity, Heritage & Culture

- Laurence Fox returns to the "So What You're Saying Is..." (#SWYSI) sofa in one of the first interviews he has given since last week's launch of the new "Reclaim Party" (www.reclaimparty.co.uk). Having previously told us that he was "too passionate to be a politician", Laurence explains he started the new party because his discussions with Conservative politicans led him to realise that the issues that concerned him weren't top of their agenda.
Laurence believes they don't appreciate how fundamental these concerns are to the nation, the fabric of which is fraying, he argues. Their new found voters in the former Labour Red Wall particularly understand this -- and expect something to be done.
Laurence Fox's motivation in founding the Reclaim Party, therefore, was to ensure that a means existed to apply pressure on the Conservatives and ensure that they would be held to account. This seems all the more necessary during the Covid crisis, Laurence continues, when it seems as if the nation is run more by a small cabal of individuals rather than by our elected representatives.

Yes he is a star. I don't have the worry about splitting the vote, as like Farage, Laurence will be a 'disrupter' Look at the way Farage put the wind up the Tories during the local elections last year over Brexit. Laurence will do the same, and that will achieve real change in an area that desperately needs change.

Logic I am afraid will as always be against any new party. People worry or fear the other party being put into power through the back door if they vote for any new party. In all honesty Lawrence has no idea how to do this, nor how to make any electoral impact. I don't disagree with his views as I've been writing, campaigning and standing for election over many years on the same political ground. Just listened from my kitchen in Melbourne Australia. I am an ex pat born in Yorkshire. Oh so well done, my heart sings to hear this. I love the name “Reclaim” I think it is perfect. All over the world we are feeling the same frustrations, Brexit and Donald Trump have given me hope. Our politicians becomes slightly emboldened after Brexit, but since COVID they are slipping back and being brow beaten into this appeasing culture. We are all suffering, too frightened to be ourselves. Our tolerance ignored.
