  • What makes a rich life? Goal setting expert Bridget Hilton explores the surprising truth about wealth-that it's not found in bank accounts but in purposeful action and meaningful impact. Through her journey from the music industry, to giving 50,000 people hearing aids across 40 countries, to writing a best selling book, audiences discover how going from dreaming to doing creates genuine fulfillment. Drawing from conversations with 20,000 people worldwide, this powerful keynote reveals the one trait all truly wealthy people share: they create urgency and accountability around their dreams - instead of waiting for 'someday'.
Bridget is a leading expert on the art, science, and path to building a life rich in experiences. Growing up in Flint, MI, she used her love of music as inspiration and hustled her way into the largest record label in the world as a teenager - helping to launch some of today's biggest careers in music. Inspired by a viral video of a deaf woman hearing for the first time, she then founded the first social good electronics company, LSTN Sound Co., sold millions of products, partnered with the likes of Google, Delta Air Lines, and Amazon, was interviewed by Today Show, GMA, NYT, and traveled the world giving over 50,000 people the gift of hearing. Now as a keynote speaker, co-author of the Experiential Billionaire book and Treasure Maps card deck, self proclaimed experiential guinea pig, and facilitator of one of the largest surveys on life experiences ever done, she has inspired hundreds of thousands to follow and achieve their dreams personally and professionally.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Great talk. The surprising thing was that during the entire presentation, the moment she received the most applause from the audience was when we said, "we sold the company for 3 billion dollars"... which fundamentally contradicts the idea of the speech. This shows that even in an environment like a TED Talk, perhaps subconsciously, we value money the most. The reaction was not even close to when she helped the girl from Peru hear for the first time.... Great talk. Thanks for sharing

I think she got more applause when she said she helped 50,000 people hear. The 3 billion sale turned out to be a joke anyway. It wasn't true.

    Thank you Bridget...Keys to a Rich-Life!
    1. Figure out what is most valuable... Experiences? and its not Money, as its is just a means to Life!
    2. Honestly attempt to fulfil your dreams/ desires, take radical steps or responsibilities instead of making excuses.
    3. Time is a life currency, don’t waste it...use it wisely...make it purposeful.

I asked 20,000 people around the world a simple question. What have been the most valuable things in your lifetime? And not one person said money or possessions. Which is interesting because then I asked Google what was valuable, and it showed me images of piles of diamonds and some weird gold eggs and toilet paper made from $100 bills. So why did I embark on this seemingly random pursuit? Because I had a hunch that we'd been sold a lie about what makes life truly rich. And I wanted to prove it not just to the world, but to myself. Because I didn't start off with some high minded philosophical quest on how to live the best life. Trust me. Growing up in Flint, Michigan, a place known for a water crisis and Michael Moore movies, I actually only had one ambition, and that was to become a rich and famous rock star. And when I say rich, I mean like mansions and Ferraris and arenas full of adoring fans. I'm talking about like MTV cribs level, like Fresh Prince of Bel Air, kind of rich. So every day I would listen to the radio non-stop. I knew every lyric, every chord change, every fact about the bands, and every night I would stare up at my posters on my ceiling, dreaming of touring the globe and hearing people scream my name. I mean, I was obsessed.

I'm 65. Seems my generation has always known what it's about. And you're just catching on.
"Everybody talks about a new world in the morning. A new world in the morning so they say.
I, myself don't talk about a new world in the morning. A new world in the morning, that's today.
And I can feel a new tomorrow comin' on.
And I don't know why I have to make a song. Everybody talks a bout a new world in the morning. New world in the morning takes so long.
I met a man who had a dream he had since he was twenty. I met that man when he was eighty-one. He said too many
people just stand and wait up til the mornin', Don't they know tomorrow never comes.
And he would feel a new tomorrow coming on. And when he'd smile his eyes would twinkle up in thought. Everybody talks about a new world in the morning. New world in the morning never comes.
And I can feel a new tomorrow coming on.
And I don't know why I have to make a song. Everybody talks about a new world in the morning. New world in the morning takes so long."

It’s easy to deny money only and only if you have enough of it for the rest of your lifetime, not rich, no mansion, just enough for food and rent for you and your family. Up until this moment nothing else matters at all, neither deaf children nor starving monkeys. And 90% of people don’t have enough, moreover, never achieve. Being able to survive is the only thing that matters for the masses, everything else is either for the 10% or good samaritans, with none of which I’m personally acquainted, not a single one. These talks are useless.

It's even more easier to type a comment.
There are many who have more than enough for survival
How many of them really deny?
Even one with millions of dollars could claim that he earns for his survival
      Money is just a resource
Whether to deny it or buy luxuries with it or accumulate it depends on one's inner clarity and understanding.
If you have an idea you will anyhow manage to work on it.
But if you have no idea
      You won't do anything
Irrespective of the money you have
