Hello, I have mentioned this before and asked for your comments, but I think that there are a couple of things that tell me that this (and many other 'explorer yachts') are not actually designed to spend weeks at sea. Firstly, the galley has no rails around the cook top or prep area. This would make cooking and preparing food in anything other than the most calm of conditions when at sea or when alongside, just about impossible. Secondly, the lack of freezer space. For any long voyage a boat would need at least a couple of large chest freezers for vegetables, bread etcetera. Thirdly, the lack of dry storage space for other consumables. I suspect that this and many other similar 'explorer yachts', will spend most of their time alongside in a marina somewhere sunny. Most meals apart from breakfast will be taken in restaurants at or near to the marina. I know from personal experience that most of these large and expensive boats are only used at weekends and rarely leave the marina. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy watching these videos and looking at the boats, it's just that I am sceptical about them being used for long sea voyages. I would love to hear your comments on this.
There are no fiddles on the work tops etc, and worse no obvious handholds in that very large deck saloon. Passage making in anything approaching 4m Hs would be “interesting” to say the least!
This is a heavy Cat A ocean going vessel with a bulbous bow that reduces pitch significantly. She also has a very good stabilization system as well. The boat is designed for long distant voyage and is equipped to do so in comfort. Yes, of course in rough seas you’re not going to be preparing a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, but to suggest that this vessel is somehow lacking for long hauls is ridiculous. Fiddle rails, gimbals stoves and pot restraints are not as necessary on a boat like this as you think.
In addition to the lack of handholds in the large living spaces, I noticed the plethora of sharp right angles in the furnishings just laying in wait for a misplaced shin or hip.
@tonybazz53 - Admittedly my trans Atlantic voyages have been under sail, so I have no far offshore experience on motor yachts - but I can't imagine even making tea or coffee in that galley underway in a blow, no matter what sort of stabilisation systems she has.
One can see as she sits now that she currently spends her time tethered to the marina, but perhaps they're just sorting things out to prepare for the sale.
I do like this vessel however there are a few things I would definitely change.
1. Change the flybridge to a fiberglass hardtop
2. Put some handholds / grabrails around the cockpit for the rough water this yacht is supposedly built for.
3. Put some pan holders around the stove - as above.
4. Have the owner / agent bother to at least make an effort to tidy the boat up for selling it.
5. Spend more time with the Goodest Boy m
Did i miss a mention about her top / cruising speeds?
Great video John.
Love that helm seat. Sit down, relax and have full control of everything without lifting a finger
Cracking boat. I like the lower helmet position to be in its own room, wheelhouse.
Wow! A beautiful and perfect yacht to cruise around the world. As usual excellent presentation and give the owner my compliments.
Many thanks!
Come on euromillions! That is the one
The yacht is very nice, well laid out with a thoughtful design. I was happy to see the fly bridge control actually have some form of protection from rain and spray. Most seem to them open to the elements seemingly. As for your guest, beautiful dog meaning the boat is pet friendly. The bridge was not cluttered, it very functional, most of the small boats I was on and helmed were ships wheels, throttles and that a compass. Then your general knowledge of the coast, with a paper chart. Times change. Peace😊
Think you are the first person to mention the dog 🐶
Always interesting when you compare yachts in the 50-80' range. If you look at a Bering 70 vs a Princess V70 or a Fairline 68 even, they are so radically different. Then you look at a 70' Viking fishing yachts, obviously a purpose built craft, but still, it's 70' with about the same accommodations for passengers and crew, but also something so different and I think in that size range, the purpose of the yacht really becomes the most critical factor in making a decision, more so than any other yacht design. A fishing yacht, cruiser, explorer, pleasure craft, flybridge, commuter yacht. That size it is so critical to decide what you are going to be using the yacht for.
Great video, equally good production values. My idea of a motor yacht was always those sleek 90's Italian style boats. I'm glad I found your channel and my appreciation for trawler style live-aboard explorer yachts are now my favourites. Thank you
Ahggg!!!! John, just been reading up on this yacht half an hour ago. You read my mind every time. 👌
Great tour, very nice boat
Thank you 🫡
Nice solid build for a seagoing family/operators. Crew might be a problem. Cold storage for extended voyages unseen?. Shame about the engines though. I have had dozens of Iveco products and never found a good one yet and I would be here all day listing the issues though having said that they are well known and spares as a result are easy to source across Europe. No mention of battery power so I guess the genset is going to be worked a lot.
Pleasant little ship.
that boat looks great. It is verry practical What a lovely boat
Really like your boat reviews, they’re excellent and just the kind of craft I find so appealing. Am sure I’m not alone in wishing you would quote Imperial dimensions as well as Metric. Many thanks for the effort you put into these tours 🙏
Many thanks!
Wonderful boat. And video.
Thank you 🫡
Not impressed with this one, and for sale? I would have made an effort to tidy up, especially make up the beds nicely for a video. I like the exterior profile but not the interior layout.
John, as a potential 24/7 live-aboard, I like the sense that I could have complete confidence in the thought that she gives me absolute freedom with her ~3000nm capability. With that in mind, does she house a blackwater treatment plant?
Great tour , love the accommodation but as they're selling you'd think they would have made the beds properly and cleared the worktops!!!
Glad you enjoyed the video 🙌
That's a big boat deck for a 70 ft boat. The U shaped seating is big enough to have 8 people sitting around it.
A very smart and comfortable looking vessel.
Another great tour. Looks like you could do several boats parked in that covered area. Lots of traditional looking boats that your viewers, myself included, prefer. I could spend hours just gazing at those traditional, capable boats. Keep up the great work.
Thanks John I like this because it's 'unfussy' if that's a word. Reminds me of the plain formica trim on the old war canoes rather than some of these posh boats with all the expensive wood finish. Still praying for a win on the lotto haha. Cheers shipwreck ⚓⚓
Amazing 👍👍👍
I still prefer the poolster
great advice... its what I'm doing too.
This boat is confusing - while the hull and superstructure are very seaworthy, the interior spaces definitely are not. The helm is open to the saloon, with no visible means of blacking it out for night running (must the guests stumble around all those sharp corners in the dark?)
Using the galley in any sort of weather would be ... interesting ...
There are no crew quarters or pilot berth...
The list goes on and on....
She's perfect for marina life and coastal cruising at best. I'd run her down the US east coast ICW, but would probably not consider the same journey offshore outside (which I have done delivering an actual working trawler to Florida from Maine)
I ordered one but was charged for three. There is no way that I can find to contact. I called American Express to stop sale but they were unable to. American Express says they will reverse the charge when I get the order. They couldn’t get a hold of the seller as well.
Sharp edges on the counters!!!
Great boat , think I might have seen it in the background on a previous video of yours. Does the ‘yacht master’ fill in for no ship wheel on the fly bridge ? Cheers
This boat has an incredible layout for its size. I assume that the hull is made of Aluminum which allows her to have a good navigation range for its weight. Question: In the main cabin's Port side, was that a door to a day head? I did not see good freezer and fresh storage for long passages. I would also add a water maker if possible and maybe switch the canvass top in the Flybridge for a fibergalss hardtop to place some solar panels on top. There is room in the Lazarette for some lithium batteries and related equipment.
" dont forget to" - double negative.
Remember to - positive leads to action
Thanks for the tip 🙌🫡
Is a vessel such as this one seaworthy enough for the Northern Pacific off the U.S. and Canadian coasts, up to and including Alaska?
I would be happy to operate this boat in those areas. She is rated to operate in BF8 conditions 💨
Such a nice yacht. Reminds me of a Cheoy Lee. Especially their new CLX or whatever they are calling it and the CLB series. Just my uneducated opinion you know. Lol.
Any space for crew? Plenty of room down there I'm sure you could add some.
Minor quibble: around 15:15 I'm not crazy about the opening portlights so far forward and close to the waterline. Didn't notice, but they shoud at least have deadlights.
Love
A strange vessel this one,she looks very good and sturdy from the outside, but inboard it gives the impression of a house with a steering wheel a definite non nautical feel.I have also said before that I do not like exposed swim platforms, other than that she is a great looking boat.Cheers,Roly🇬🇧.
Can I pick it up next week if that's ok
Why is it on the market for sale?
Turnaround time is hard to grasp, depreciation/ brokerage cost/ taxes (😢) ect...
What is going on?
The owner wants a smaller boat 🫡
Very, VERY nice. Only downside for me is that there are no crew quarters.
Zonde van dat Yacht, een grote bende van binnen en dat in de Zandmeren te Kerkdriel, had eerst je zooi opgeruimd voordat je YachtBuoy uitnodigde om te filmen.
Did I miss how you steer from the flybridge? No wheel? No tiller?
Love the layout, however it would require some of my crew to double up. The last time crew had to double up it would be days before I saw them. Then when I did see them they were tired, hungry, and needed sleep. Be happy, be safe
if i had the $$$$ that boat would be perfect for me.
Lacking. A lot of info here boyo !
Speeds?
Galley appliances?
Any laundry appliances?
Is hull steel, aluminum or fiberglass?
aluminium
Surprisingly for a so called explorer yacht this does not seem set up for night passages. Does not appear possible to block off wheelhouse from saloon.
Outside of being a nice looking explorer. My main issue is the lacking electronic equipment right off the bat. Example 1. No analog bilge lights on a ship diagram mounted above helm or anywhere. There is no secondary system on board, i.e. GPS, nav. Or autopilot. Redundancy is the most important thing on an Explorer yacht. No back to the video.
Surprised there isn’t a crew space on such a vessel……..🤔 not that I think I would want it. For such a hull volume the cabins seemed a tiny bit small and I assume the separate heads and shower in the bow, serves all three cabins ? The master cabin seemed a bit small as well…… However, I think it’s probably par for the course with an Explorer style boat, along with small portholes and a lack of the huge hull windows on the more “gin palace” party boats…….
How's about some Foot conversions for us YANKS!!!
Yes...please. He started converting the fuel/water but stopped there. We want length, besm etc. as well.
Can't seem to find where the boat is for sale. Is there a website or broker?
follow this link and then scroll
down to ‘featured boat’ - there is a link to the broker’s website there 🫡 linktr.ee/john_johnson
@@YachtBuoy Thanks, found it. Interesting design!
I’ll take it! Why is owner selling it?
Wants to downsize 🙌
Washer dryer? ;-)
In the lazzerette
Not for me, i don’t like the flybridge, it’s to plain and white, i don’t like the interior or cabins, but some people like minimal !
Same here. Love the exterior styling....not so much the interior. Being an "old guy" I prefer traditional style.
I'm not buying it unless the dog comes with it
😂😂😂😂
expensif. crew no cabin
Explorer class?
Nope.
Only 1 generator.
No washer and dryer.
No fresh water maker.
Wasted space with huge black water tank (why no sewage treatment system)?
Low refrigeration and freezer space.
This is a live aboard dock queen.
Blacks, greys and whites are just about to go out of fashion, thank God. They better sell it fast.
I like the color inside and outside but the helm area with white ceiling and walls will have a glare at night driving and i don't believe I have a boat that has bright white ceiling on it. I thought the master bedroom was to small, why didn't they build it with a full beam. That boat must not of had enough warning to give the owner time to straighten up or to make the beds properly. It could really do with a womans touch because it had the show of a single guy that hasn't gotten the chance to think about getting his future plans in order. Overall I wish him with all the luck an hope he finds his true partner. To all single people who plan to get married, get a Prenup. Dont leave home, or rather, don't leave your lawyers office without it. Happy hunting, its a gold diggers jungle out there. Yuck ....
