Defensively vs ravagers the new overcharge seems so much better. The battery just got biled down instantly anyway most of the time and a more interesting, harder to use, dynamic option is so much better design wise
It's really cool, allows much more creativity and skill from Protoss players (as long as they can actually hold certain all-ins which I'm still a little skeptical) I think it would be better if the cooldown was a little shorter, maybe 50 seconds or so
definitely gives Protoss a much more mobile defensive option, and gives more scouting information which is more useful the better you are hold up you seem familiar
That last game seems like if you’d realized storm was done and gotten a single boosted Templar out vs the first hydras you probably hold it easily. Being able to skip the pre-warped templar before storm is so nice
Yeah I totally agree. i think that especially for lower levels (some of the F2 folk) to not need to keep the templar at a base to defend before hand. Just immediate warp in and storm may be strong

Not even amazing, but just "good". By that ratio, FIFA's estimation of 124,000 professional footballers worldwide would require 12,400,000,000 people of all skill levels regularly playing football in order to shake out enough people "good" at football to form just that pool of pros. When you realize that number is like twice as many people as are actually able to play football in the world today and like 50% greater than the global population, is it any wonder that nobody thinks they're "good" at whatever video game they play, when the bar is set so high? When you think about it, people who say that stuff about video games are legit calling like 2/3 of all professional footballers bad at football. It's wild. I will not apologize for the rant.
The thing is with competition is when you're in that scenario of trying to be an up and coming pro, you have to have the mindset to be better than everyone. Sure, you have the Serrals/Fakers of whatever game you want to compete in, but you have to give yourself credit for getting there. But at the same time, you have to acknowledge that while you're good, you have to practice to keep getting better otherwise you're going to get surpassed. Part of the path is learning, and while you should try to have fun, half the fun is learning, grinding and trying to get better and consistent. Per a famous quote: "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

i honestly LOVE energy overcharge for Protoss, honestly make it even better, allow protoss energy units to use a ton off spells, make all spellcasters heavier in supply from all races. so we get protoss=only race using lots and lots off spells, terran just strong all around and lots off range etc op as usual, and zerg should be refocused into waves and hordes off meatshield with none, autocast only, or extremely little spellcasting support and ONLY supportive abilities, no pulls, etc. they can keep mindcontrol as limiting spellcasters to 2-4 in an army limits the potential broken off it.
The battery overcharge really looks like a band-aid solution compared to this energy overcharge. It makes a poorly executed all in have greatly reduced chances of working

Lets get some diferences on these races again LETS DO THIS LEEROY!!!
extra's; (pylons and creep creates deadzones that doesn't show on scans, can see its blocked). all terran buildings have a marine auto-turret gun attachment. creep autospread, queens limit 1 per hatch and autocast heal, like campaign; protoss gets Dark-Archons in all their glory. battlecruisers becomes limit to 1 like mothership, mothership and battlecruisers revamp into extreme support aircraft, limit their aggressive capability and increase their survive and their support ability, mothership perma energy shield its army, like a sentry, giving them a +1 range buff and a low energy recharge like a battery, ability to invis and teleport the entire army a Short distance with 1 sec delay) battlecruisers, becomes very very tanky etc. some terran lover can come up with some cool stuff. zerg dont get super units; SWARM!!!
Is Energy Overcharge cooldown separate for every Nexus? It is a huge bummer if it isn't. I mean, Terran don't even have cooldown on mules. If it is separate, there is room for new all-inns with early casters.
I like how everybody argued I said the new energy ability is going to be way better than the old one, because hte old one really sucked and never did much. In addition to getting this new ability, the battery got it's HP buff, so that's also a huge nerf, because it is usally the first target by the opponent. So it's really a double buff. I really like it because protoss is super weak to low tech from the other sides, bio and roach ravager. But, all those people are stupid, and if everybody disagrees with you, you're probably on to something.
For the same reason why Khaydarin Amulet was ultimately removed, I have a feeling Energy Overcharge will also be removed. It would be a decent ability with good use cases and interesting builds if it were only used for Oracles or Sentries, but once you get 2 storms instantly warping a single Templar, it's too strong.
Just change overcharge like they did transfuse, smaller initial energy but an accelerated energy gain rate for the difference, that way it becomes a micro contest of save the Templar/dive the Templar, and 5 seconds later somebody wins that

It's not realistic to expect the Protoss to never have to plan ahead for defense and then give the enemy player 5 seconds to counter a Templar warp in they might not even be able to see because it's a little ways back in the Protoss' base.

A 1 minute CD isn't going to be a big enough window for a Terran to abuse and drop Protoss while energy overcharge isn't available. It's not like a Terran is dropping every 30 seconds. Trust me man, I like the ability, I play Protoss, but the reason why I know it's too strong is because I also played Protoss when they removed Khaydarin Amulet. All the same problems that existed with warping in high templar with 75 energy also exist with this ability except you get more instant storms for less money. Not only is energy overcharge free where as Khaydarin cost money and time to research, but Kharydarin only gave you 1 storm per templar you warp in, this gives you 2 at the critical moment for the cost of 1 templar.
It's always nice when these young players come by and visit Harstem in the old folks home.
