Thank you for watching!
I've learnt everything I know of photography on youtube and the internet, I've always got all of this information for free. I'm what you can call a "self-made photographer" eventhough I'm just an amateur and not a professionnal (eventhough I already sold some of my photographic work). So trust me when I say that I watched A LOT of UA-camrs on the matter. I discovered Julia's channel only recently (2 months ago) and her channel is by far the most comprehensive, instructive, and pleasing to watch I've ever seen. Great work Ma'am, keep going !
Would be interested to see your Work, do you have a Portfolio
100% agree🎉
You have no idea how happy that makes me to hear, thank you so much!! I'm really glad you find my videos so helpful 🥰
My favorite tip was "Use the camera you have" That is a true statement. You must practice to get better. Also, though not mentioned but implied, knowing your camera and its limitations is very key. I also think finding your style is very very very important! I know my style is B&W images with a nostalgic look. It is what I am very good at. I watch you because I enjoy your more dreamy take on portraits. THANKS as always for your cheerful explanations and grounded thoughts.
Short and sharp, straight to the point, well covered for those new to the camera other than on smartphones.
I use "Av" aperture priority with my Canon R100. Back in the day when I shot with my Canon 5D mark II, I shot completely in full manual mode.
I love the content you create in your videos.
I studied photography when I was young, and when I see you it reminds me of many beautiful things.
There is a section in photography that I really liked, and that is developing the 35mm black and white film in the darkroom❤
Kisses😘 from Spain🇪🇸
Julia never misses!
Thank you 🙏
This is a great overview of all the things I have learned since last October when I purchased my first full frame camera. I am definitely taking the time to practice!
I wish I watched it few years ago, that’s ton of knowledge is such a short video :) Keep going with the channel, very valuable content!
Hi Julia 😊 ! I hope you are enjoying the winter in Australia & the photography opportunities it affords. 📸
Winter is really not too bad in Sydney, I'm so glad that I am still able to shoot outside most days ☀️
Well done Julia!, a universal guide for any one starting out on there Photography journey !
Thanks so much!
Julia, oh mia cara
ti prego salvami tu
❤❤❤
Thank you for this enlightening lesson on photography, camera technique, exposure and general tips, much appreciated.
I am happy you enjoyed it 🙏
I'm with you on using a wider lens for portraits. I like including environments as well.
Love your content and expertise. Hi from New York. 🗽
Thanks so much!
another great video, i learnt about photography using film before digital ,but this video is great for someone just starting out.......
Thank you! I also learnt film before digital haha but some of these still apply for film too :D
Love these videos
Wonderful tips Julia. Loved them though I must say negative space in portrait and anchor in landscape were the best ones for me.
Thank you! Those 2 are my fav compositions to use haha
Thank you so much
madam I've been following you since 3 years ...thanks for everything you do ❤ I just love watching your videos
Thank you so much!
Great video, Julia! I think the best advice is to keep shooting. If you persist, improvement is inevitable.
Thank you and I completely agree!
For Sony users I would recommend using the leveling function.
Pls do fujifilm simulations video !
Tips:
- You can shoot great photos with a 10-year-old camera and old lenses and it doesn't have to be a full-frame body, just pick any camera body that makes you comfortable when shooting and learn about lightning, compositing, and exposure before diving into expensive gears and those big aperture lenses.
Yep, I definitely agree with this!
Very Nice & Informative
Thanks for sharing 🌹
Tutorial made simple. Thanks. 🥰
Symmetry tip was awesome
Glad you liked it!
Amazing video. Great tips. Thank you sharing and keep going. Have a wonderful day :)
Thanks so much, glad you enjoyed!
Nice. We all need to go back and remember the basics even for us long-term photographers. 😅👍🏽
Thank you and yeah, sometimes it's good to get a little refresher :)
7:28 - ISO does not add noise.
The amount of noise depends on the lighting. ISO allows you to see more/less of the noise that is already there. 😉
You can test this by taking two different photos in bad and slightly better lighting conditions. The first photo will have much more noise than the second.
Then you can take the photo in a well-lit room and with a high ISO. The noise will not be there. 😉
thanks for great sharing 😍😍👏👏
Thank you for watching!
great info! thank you!
Glad it was helpful :)
I came here to tell you that i pre ordered Aperty because of you helping with it. So we need it to have ability to remove glare from glasses with a slider, remove wrinkles from clothes and backdrops, change backgrounds. It need to be equivalent or better than Evoto. Being that you are a portrait photographer, i trusted your input and pre ordered.
That's so exciting to hear, thank you! We will be sharing the feature list that we are working on with Aperty soon, I can't wait to be able to share some tutorials using the app :) I will also forward any feedback/suggestions to the team
Thanks Julia 👍
PS I like the Anchor
Thank you!
I've been following you for a long time ❤❤❤. What's the best budget camera do you recommend under$1000?
I don't think I've heard a clearer explanation or tutorial on white balance than the simple sentence "If your indoor photos look too orange, that's white balance." So thank you for that!
Yess that's great to hear, thank you!
From my own personal experiences i feel that people will respect you more and be more willing to allow you to take photos of them if you are using an actual camera then a smartphone camera. To them using a smartphone camera means you are not to be trusted.
I do agree to an extent. With the phone I meant more so about just using it to get out and shoot, to have a chance at being creative, etc. Some people will use not having a camera as an excuse to never get started, but you can definitely start with what you have right now :)
Hi Julia,
Great video as always ❤
I have a question hope to get your feedback 🙏 please
I saw your review videos for Tamron lens 70-180 g2 for Sony and the 35-150 lens as well, and I a bit confused as you mentioned that the image quality and the bokeh that the 70-180 g2 is producing is impressive in away that gave me impression it's not the same with the 35-150.
I'm in the search to buy one of the 2 lenses, and I feel going to the 70-180 g2 based on the images quality you show in your review plus your comments about how beautiful is the bokeh. Altho the 35-150 is all in one lens. Hope you please guide and advise. I'm more into portrait and events photography.
Thanks so much in advance.
Thank you! Both are great lenses with good performance, sharpness and bokeh. The differences will come down to your personal preferences and what you need the lenses for. I think something to keep in mind is while the 35-150 is more versatile, it is very heavy so it could be more difficult to use for long days/travel, etc. But since you are doing events, I would lean towards this one!
Aperture always throws me off, especially when it comes to choosing the right aperture for group shots. The depth of field depends on so many factors-like the aperture, focal length, and distance to the subject-and it's hard to figure out which f/stop to use. I wish there was a straightforward rule to follow. For instance, I've seen group photos taken at f/1.8, like with groomsmen at weddings. In my mind, I'd hesitate to shoot such a scenario at anything less than f/5.6 to ensure everyone stays in focus, especially since they're on different focal planes.
Any advice for this? Or maybe a good topic for a new video?
simple and easy
Thank you 😊
will you review the sigma 24-70 mark ii?
Unfortunately not as the distributor in Aus is unreliable :( I would have loved to though!
been photographer for more than 10 years now. here just to hear 'hey everyone' 😁
Regular viewer form india ❤
I learnt to use negative fill from you.
Yess, one of my favourite compositions to use!
10:05 favorite tip? All the above 👏🏽
So, how are you finding Nikon Julia?
I'm really enjoying using their gear lately, they've been kicking it up a notch recently with their releases!
Can you do some challenges here on UA-cam so that people can learn photography. You tell in a compact way everything to know about the topic and your viewers go outside and practice the topic.
I do challenges sometimes, like the 400mm photoshoot and things like that :D
@@juliatrotti Understanding light would be really helpful. Your audience should do the challenge not you. You are the master of photography. You are in a different league.
Этот выпуск когда вы говорите снят на a 7 iii ?
I used the A7sIII to film this!
I can make the Julia Trotti special even shorter: buy a camera with a 1.4 prime, go into aperture priority, take some tape and fix that aperture ring to 1.4, then start hitting the shutter :D
Bahahah don't reveal all my secrets like that!
Julia, you are divinely beautiful.
2.8 zoom lenses are the way to go so no more primes for me.
I used to be primes for life.. but after 15+ years that is slowly changing 😅
Still waiting for that BTS or a day in the life.
I upload bts videos all the time! A day in the life will come around when I upload my travel vlogs which I am a little behind on.. I film from morning to night during those!
White pants are very nice on you
With due respect, her photos seems average compared to others. Outstanding images are missing. Mostly bad posing, backgrounds,..
My dream is to be a professional photographer. But my camera just broken 😭
Bonkers! You think these are the "basics". Crazy
Haha okay, what would you consider basics?
@@juliatrotti, almost everything is about “exposure”.
So, why phones, which are quite hard to control get good results (wide-angle, clever sensors, clever automatic processing).
With cameras…
“Auto” = no control
Program = allows one to set under/over exposure
Role of half-pressed shutter in fixing exposure (and focus)
With cameras, the reasons why the middle of every scale (shutter speed, aperture, ISO … and, in a different sense, focal length) does so much of the work: slower than 1/125, 1/60… 1/30; wider than, or at f/4, f/2.8, f/2, f/1.4; ISOs 640, 1600… 3200. That all those scales allow steps (“stops”) that allow doubling. That this is true of aperture, expressed as a fraction f/…
What happens if you go towards the extremes of the scales.
The way focus (“depth of field”) stretches…. As it goes away … to about 15m. In other words how focus becomes more critical nearer the camera.
Why lenses are thought of in terms of their fastest apertures.
Viewfinders vs. EVF
The fact that all digital cameras are marvels of technology… there are no real duds.
RAW and the rewards of software post-processing
@@juliatrotti, you talk focal length of lenses as if full frame were the norm, the only, format. Perspective of lens length is related to sensor size. (Micro four thirds? Most cameras have what is often called a ‘cropped’ sensor.) Sensors of 100mexapixels, 33megapixels! You are from another planet. There are very expensive ‘professional’ cameras with that kind of pixel count. 26 has been a standard for some years. There are lots of great, slightly older cameras with less. Frame rate is seldom used by anyone except sports photographers and weak fashion photographers… because it can be hard to distinguish one frame from another once you have piles and piles on your computer.
@@LloydSpencer these are definitely more advanced and detailed topics that need more time to be dived into, I do have separate videos about most of these topics on my channel for that reason!
