When they're all running, ASMR for train lovers
Ah yes! I still need to work on a real Train ASMR video. I think it could work!
Totally lol
That's the beauty of model railroading. Even the engines that have gone missing can be brought back to life through their reproduction in miniature.
I'm definitely a fan of the Dreyfus Hudson. It's such an inspirational engine along with the passenger train itself.
There is so many awesome trains on your layout. I wish I had as many, and as big of a layout as you have. It’s crazy how much layouts and collections can grow so fast. Keep up the great work Chris!
He's still young yet. Imagine how many trains he will have when he retires.
@@TheCreativeMind He’ll probably has own “He-shed” when he gets older. Lol. A 1000 sqft building with a huge layout!
Thanks for watching Atlanta Railfan Productions!
Your passion for the New York Central from your personal ties and drive to learn its history really come through in this video and your collection. I have similar ties to the Union Pacific so it was very fun seeing someone else dive into the lore for a railroad like you did. Loved it!
Both of my grandfathers had Lionel postwar trains as kids. My Papa had a GE 44 tonner, a powered and a dummy F3, and a 675 steamer. My Grandpa had a dual-motor gg1, and they both had rolling stock, accessories, and track. Decades old and none of them have required replacement parts, and they still growl along my layout today.
Nothing outruns the Post War Era! Great engines in your Family collection. Thanks for watching!
I love those NYC steamers! As a matter of fact, I love the New York Central too.
Big trains on a big layout. What could be better? NYC is my favorite railroad too (just behind the Pennsy). Thanks to the generosity of my parents, I had the opportunity of riding on the 20th Century Ltd. during its last year of operation. I'll never forget that experience. You've ably conjured up the Golden Age of RR transportation in your great layout!
What an incredible experience and memory!
Love the Dreyfuss Hudson, has been my favorite since I was just a kid watching I Love Toy Trains.
Thank you. I too love the Dreyfuss Hudson as you can tell from my avatar. That's a photo I created for Model Railroader in 1983 using a Riveossi HO engine. Your layout is awesome. Young people, like you will help keep our hobby growing. Thank you for your enthusiasm.
Wow what a great collection of New York central motive power and rollout stock 😊
Great video. Love The Dreyfuss Hudson and it’s on my N scale wish list. Hopefully we’ll see it one day. Visits to Grand Central Terminal and The High Line (now a park) never fail to stimulate the imagination of a bygone NY Central era. I’ve also been to the NLOE club layout. It’s a great layout and a great group of people.
Thanks for sharing!! Wow that was Fantastic!!!
Fantastic Video.! My 2003 on sale New York Central passenger set
started it all for me.! Awesome collection you have.! 👍Mark 😀
It was hypnotic watching all the trains running at one time. Great layout to be proud of. No doubt your enthusiasm is the icing on the cake. Thanks for the show.
Many of the converging shots happened by pure accident. Was really neat to see them passing in some of the areas. Thanks for your support Kevin!
The Empire State look amazing on your layout that my favourite great video
Great video and keep them coming! Great to see those NLOE Long Island maintenance cars! I have 2, but missing the sound car and now on a quest.
I too am a fan of the NY Central. My favorite is the Lionel PW F3 set. Livery is hard to beat. Thanks for another quality video.
Chris, your videos are always amazing!!! You have such great stage presents and a fantastic layout. So glad to see young guys in the hobby. The fun you have is evident!!
Thank you Joe! I have really enjoyed creating these videos and getting a chance to meet other people who are into the hobby. Have a great weekend!
That is very cool!
While I am not the NYC fan that you are, I have always loved the Dreyfuss Hudson!
Or any NYC Hudson for that matter.
Now that I have seen an actual model of the Niagra in the fantasy scheme, I might have to add that one to my wish list!
As always, Thank You for sharing!
This might be one of my favorite videos on your channel! Love seeing all the NYC simultaneously, especially the Dreyfuss and the VL Niagra.
1:46 - “Cue up the epic music… “ 👍
4:52-4:56 - 😂😂😂😂😂😂
WOW!!!! Now that is a great video!! THAT is the way trains are meant to be run!! A lot of action, trying to keep up with everything all at once, you are mesmerized. As you eyes follow one train they catch another, that is what a layout is all about! Greta video!
Great video as I too am a big NYC fan. Great historical representation- Lionel PW, MPC, MTH PS2 and Legacy. All running together. Great video and great NYC collection. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Rob! Digging that Empire State Express Hudson on your channel logo!
Beautiful collection of trains. Wonderful video Chris.
That is an awesome collection of NYC! I think I have to get a set of those MPC cars for my NYC F3s. Great video Chris!
Awesome looking engines my friend. Your collection is on an epic scale. Another great video
Very beautiful stuff.... Very nice very nice.
Chris....great video. Clear, informative and entertaining. Great shots. I enjoy viewing your layout and collection of trains. I find something new everytime. Thank You 👍
Thank you Jim! Appreciate your support. Have a great weekend!
Fantastic, fun video!
The Dreyfuss Hudson is also my favorite NYC steam locomotive that was on the roster. Now second to that would be the NYC Niagara. Nice video!!
You have a great collection of NYC Chris! Great run.
You are my absolute favorite youtuber. Your enthusiasm just radiates. Thank you for making my days more tolerable. Your layout is truly a fine piece of furniture. Gave me great ideas when I move to a larger room.
Thank you for your support Simkins! Hope you will share your layout with us in the future! Trains can make the days more tolerable :)
the NYC is also my favorite railroad/railway. it's so inspiring just to look at these big machines. it makes me want to draw the thing itself.
GREAT!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Thanks for your time!
loved this video. i'm a fan of the pacemaker cars so i can't wait to see your pacemaker mohawk
I can't wait either! Hopefully it shows up in the first quarter. Thanks for watching!
Did not expect my question to get an entire video dedicated to it!! Awesome video and while my favorite railroad is the ATSF I have some NY Central stuff so respect.
When I saw your question I really tried to work it into my last video but there was too much to it. I have you to thank for this one Jackson!
@@RBPTrains if your ever in Indiana, my home state, the National NY Central rail museum is in Elkhart Indiana
Awesome video Chris. The Dreyfuss is definitely a train on my list.
Great layout! Though it’s only fantasy, I like the livery on that mighty NYC Niagara! 😊 So, Lionel has been known to make fictional paint schemes, haven’t they?
Those are truly beautiful!
Thanks for an excellent video Chris. I too am a fan of NYC steam. I have a several O scale NYC steam locomotives in my collection including both Dreyfuss Hudsons. If you don't already have them in your library try and find the books Know Thy Hudsons and Know Thy Niagaras. Both are excellent reference books despite their scarcity. The NYCSHS still has both volumes of the Know Thy Mohawks in stock. Love your layout and running all those trains simultaneously was icing on the cake for us. Looking forward to your next video.
I will check those out! Thank you for sharing.
Nice those Hudson's are streaming along your layout
Hudson is my fave ,i named my cat hudson , i have a HO scale Dreyfus and a N scale unstreamline
Excellent!
so cool awesome layout I am a big new york central fan too!!!!
Hudson
That's some Train action love the Hudson also!
And the fantastic videos just keep on coming! Amazing content as always Chris! Thank you for showing us such amazing engines of the NYC! It is an awesome railroad for sure, so it was great seeing you showcase it on your layout! Keep up the great content and thanks for being such a huge inspiration to me! I appreciate you my friend!!
Thank you Kolt! Appreciate your support and look forward to connecting with you soon!
Hey Chris! Happy New Year! What an awesome video!! Love the New York Central railroad!! The Dreyfuss Hudson is one of my favorite steam engines! I also own the post war F3s and love to hear the growl of the motors from those postwar classics!!
Happy New Year Anthony! Hope all is well with you.
Great Video, great trains, great time!
So cool!!😊👍🚂🚃🚄🚅🚉🚊🚋
Great showcase!
Thanks! The trains behaved for the camera so I lucked out. :)
Really love that Dreyfuss! Great video Chris
Ohh Incredible ... Very good... I love the NYC Hudson , my favourite train is the empire state express , did you have another video about it ... ???
Great new York central train
Jeez! Six trains running! The dishes in the kitchen cabinets in your house must have been rattling!
Great show Chris, and LOVE that Dreyfuss, the ultimate Hudson! An outrage none were saved.
Oh yeah, for decades the "20th Century Limited" was THE train to take from New York to Chicago and back again, reputed to be the best passenger train in the world. Bon vivants like Lucius Beebe used to get tickets on the Century from NYC to Albany just to eat in the diner!
Mind you, the Pennsylvania's "Broadway Limited" was actually just as good but never got quite the same patronage or publicity, which drove the PRR nuts!
A fun, great video! Thanks again!
You have given me an idea and now I have to go find a Broadway Limited set! Thank you Wayne! :)
@@RBPTrains Whoops! Sorry! :)
Seriously, get a "Broadway Limited" and you can recreate the famous "race" between the Century and the Broadway from Englewood Station in Chicago to Crestline!
(The NYC and the PRR said they were NEVER racing. Uh-huh. There's a good story about that if anyone would care to hear it.)
Legend layout with a legend bloke
Always the place to be your layout thanks for your excellent shows
Thanks for watching Noel!
Great video as usual love it 👍🚂💨💨💨💨
A real fun run
Now this is a proper fleet! Long live the Central!
Great run!
Chris: these front trucks are just gonna be squeaky squeaky
Me who runs an 080: I don't have such weaknesses
The Grand Central post war was the last trains I bought, I got the AA, I need to get the B car. I also like The Texaco Special from 1954-5. You have the nicest train lay-out, so does your dad!
Thanks Jimmy! Your comment reminded me to get the Texas Special off the shelf for some run time.
that sure are a lot of trains. i like it. keep it up and have fun with it all
I love the scene at around 13:20, all that steam in the room! Awesome!! 😍
I had one eye on the trains and the other on the smoke detector! They really did throw some smoke there. Thanks for watching!
Awesome man I just went to my first ever train museum in Gibsonia pa I felt like a kid in a candy store
My favorite of the NYC is the 5344 J1e and ESE. But almost any NYC engine is worth owning. Good luck. Love your videos.
Great video Chris. I know that smell of “Ozone” from the Postwar Pullmor motors all too well. So iconic. The one thing I was hoping to hear from was that 1950’s technology of the diesel horn! That would have been great to hear, even though it couldn’t compare to today’s digital sounds, but at that time, it was thing to hear! That too is an iconic sound along with the growl of the twin horizontal motors in those engines. To me, the growl is the real life sound effects of a Diesel engine. You never heard a real life quiet Diesel engine now have you? LOL Great stuff Chris. I also liked the plug for the Long Island cars. I live on Long Island myself, and have visited the NLOE in Levittown, NY quite a few times myself. It’s a Fantastic layout!!
I really wanted to get the horn working but I could not find a D-size battery anywhere! I agree about that Post War growl as well. Thanks for watching!
He’s right about the steamer squeak. The pilot on my PCM T1 AFT and my BLI P2 Dreyfus.
So it's funny how you love the NYC and I love the Pennsylvania Railroad, and there's a bit if a story that goes with that as well. My dad started me at the 3 years old with Model Trains (HO scale) and by the time I was 5 I already had a collection of model trains to my name. One of them was a short Pennsylvania Passenger train, which consisted of 1 Athearn F7 diesel and 5 Athearn streamlined coaches. I fell in love with the paint scheme and decor of this train I had and of the collection it was an actual proper model train rather than a mismatch of cheap cars or just Thomas stuff which at that time was just Hornby stuff. This was an actual train that I had at such a young age and as I got older and started seeing more of what the Pennsy once had for their engines I just knew this was the Railroad that would be my favorite to model. And for those wondering I dont live in Pennsylvania or anywhere they actually ran but thay doesnt stop me from enjoying modeling them in the slightest. Well that's my story and for those who read it I hope you enjoyed reading it.
Awesome video!!!
LIRR colors look good on your layout Chris! Nice video as always!
Thanks to the NLOE for sending them here! I did laugh at that kitchen car...
Another great video Chris
Great running session Chris, thanks for another great video.
Thanks for watching Roger!
@@RBPTrains My pleasure, I do love your layout and all your trains.
Love the art Deco Engines
Me too! They really stand out. Thanks for watching!
@@RBPTrains I try not to miss a video
Awesome collection to run, Chris! Love the Dreyfus Hudson! Btw, did you know he also designed the common dial home and office telephone that was common for decades in every North American home? Back to Hudsons, the NYC was a champion of innovation and power, which accounts for it's century of dominance not only on the rails, but in the minds of travelers and train collectors! But where, oh where is the 'Commodore Vanderbilt'? I know it was just a shrouded 5344 Hudson, but no collection should be complete w/o it, don't you think? Anyway, thanks for this great experience on your layout once again! You sure put together nice videos, Chris!
Thanks Tom! I had the Commodore Vanderbilt in my last video so I did not want to overdo that engine, haha. Had no idea about the Henry Dreyfuss trivia. Thanks for sharing!
Nice
MR.CHRIS you are quite the character!!!
I blame it on the trains!
Great video
I am a NYC fanatic as well. I have the Dreyfuss with pt tender, the j1e with pt tender. Sw1 nyc switcher. Nyc F3 aba, sd70ace nyc heritage, any heritage nyc car with a lightning stripe. 3 full nyc passenger trains. All scale. Mostly mth. I love NYC
Wow! That is a great collection.
Great collection of NYC - now you just need to preorder that GGD 20th century limited set to have the crown jewel in your fleet ;)
Those GGD cars are something else!
I also love New York Central!!!!
I live on LI like those NLOE Box cars would love to buy them if i can find them..You have great taste with locos!
That's beautiful ❤
Great video Chris!
It must have gotten pretty smoky with all of those trains going... lol
Haha! It certainly did. Smelled like MTH Christmas in my house for 2 days after this video
When people complain (and not many do) about the smoke at our train show layouts we tell them it's disinfectant. Quiets 'em right down, espcially in this COVID day and age!
Train on my man 🚂💨💨💨
If you want to see a Hudson, come down under to the N.S.W train museum in Thermire in the Southern Highlands & see the 3081, which has the casing of a Hudson.
The Dreyfus is one of my favorite engines. I love the Hudson’s in general and I love all the different whistles that are in the video along with the smoke! Do you have any American class (4-4-0) engines? Would love to see those
You cool looking trains 🚂
Hey Chris, thanks for showing more videos. I wanted to buy a train my self, but the hobby is a bit pricey. Al just keep watching ur channel to get my fix.
There's deals out there on post-war Lionels and MPC era Lionels as well. Prices are dropping and availability is good. Hit some train shows and shops that carry used trains and keep your fingers crossed, it doesn't have to be expensive.
For example, last Greenberg show I attended I picked up a Lionel MPC Atlantic Coast Line Hudson (1980 vintage) for $100 and a 1950 Lionel 2035 for $120. Maybe I just got super-lucky but I hope you see my point.
If you're willing to live without all the fancy electronic features and go basic there's a lot to be had.
Very cool Chris. Totally enjoyed watching maximin train action. One question, do you limit your conventional postwar trains to a specific loop or somehow in your electrical you can also run command control stuff. I am trying to figure all that out. Stay safe 👍
my favorite railroad is the union pacific love the video by the way
Hey Chris, l can see you have a greatd sense of pride with your layout and collection. It's enough to make any enthusiast green with envy. Great job and fantastic collection. As always, love your enthusiasm for the hobby. Hope you never lose your child like desire for this great hobby. The world would be a much better place if everyone had a hobby and the passion that goes with it. It's a shame they will never know what their missing out on. Love the drivers and running gear action on the Dreyfus. Are those considered boxpok or Baldwin disc drivers? They don't appear to be scullin drivers. The running gear has a unique look all its own while running with those drivers. Although I'm a Kansan. Don't tell anyone that I to admire the NYC Dreyfus, Vanderbilt, and Mercury engines. Wish there were more affordable conventional options for these.
I wish I had the room for a medium sized hi-rail 3 rail layout LIONEL LEGACY OF COURSE But fortunately my 12x12 train room is more suitable for N scale which isn't really a BAD thing at all Happy New Year you and your Family Chris KEEP EM ROLLIN ;-)
The Dreyfus is one of my all time favorites
I just picked up the railking Dreyfuss version a few months ago and love it.
Great find!
Same here, jumped on one at a train show back in May, I'd wanted one for years! An older MTH "Railking" model. Great runner!
I really like all of those engines and my dad really loves the Hudsens
They are a lot of fun! I like the Hudsons too. Thanks for watching!
K-line mikado was my first steam engine UP 2499.i believe Lionel still uses tooling.still my favorite
I love the Dreyfuss Hudson
That was, as we’d say “back in the day”, bitchin’!
I really enjoyed seeing all of those running at the same time.
Haha, thanks Chris! I kept trying to get smoke going on all of them but it was overloading my transformers.
@@RBPTrains Ha! I never thought of the current draw. I was just impressed that you had a conventional engine along with 5 modern engines, some running on the same track loop, all at the same time.
love the logo!
Thanks! My brother designed this. He has the talent!
Awsum video 🚂😎👍
