- October 17, 2007 - By request, Sir Ian's delightful visit to TLLS. Funny, frank, relaxed and engrossing, this is one guest I'd love to see back again. From the Riverdance entrance, to the Singapore adventures, to Hitler, he and Craig seemed to enjoy the segment as much as we did.
There you are Noel, you can stop nagging me now. ;D
Craig does one of the best interviews of anyone in late night TV...maybe all of TV period!
Gandalf and the Seventh Doctor...I'm smiling so wide right now.
Damn, wish this interview was much longer, I feel they both wanted to talk longer. Great guy, Ian.
He's such a cool guy and an amazing actor. He's one of those people you can look at and see not their age but the wisdom they've gained through experience over the years.
Such a wonderfull man. So full of life and humble, yet very humorous.
how the hell did i get here from metallica?strange man this youtube
And he freakin Riverdanced! Watching Ian McKellen Riverdancing with Craig Ferguson?!?! Thats got to be some new level of pure awesome...
Sir Ian McKellen hath swag.
My god, that clip had Gandalf and Dr. Who in it!!! Best clip ever.
HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS EVER EXISTED???????? Two of my favourite people, my inspirations, my men, in one room actually talking to each other?? *faints*
as a fan of TLLS, and DW, I did NOT expect to see the Doctor there!
and finally i saw Sir Ian Mckellen with a REAL beard !!!
This might be a weird explanation but he looks like a Christopher nolan version of Santa claus.
The clip! Gandalf and Radagast? McKellen and McCoy? Am I right?
thank you for this old school gold!!!
Aww, love ian mckellen :-)
I love this man
man , this guy is magneto , and gandalf , how can you be more épic ? !
they are both very well educated people and i think really enjoyed talking about the war and such
Having Sylverster McCoy in that clip made this video even better.
I kept expecting him in the clip to shout "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!!"
FYI - in the recent Doctor Who Christmas special (2012) "The Snowmen"--> Sir Ian Mckellen plays the voice of the Great Intelligence in that episode. Don't believe me, check it out yourself.
Damn! Sir Ian's got some style! Look at those threads.
To sir Ian, I love your style. Red Crocs and a Sir.
Ah, I see Sylvester Mcoy was co-starring in that clip with Ian. It will be nice to see them working together in "The Hobbit"- Mcoy is playing Radagast the Brown
If you have never watched his interview on Inside the Actor's Studio - or seen "Gods and Monsters" - do it. Now. :)
YOU! SHALL NOT! PAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHSS!
HOLY SHIT XD did Ian take a shot at Sir Alec Guinnes XD
Ian McKellen is a boss.
He is so fucking cool!!
haha I wasn't really paying attention, then all of a sudden, I hear Sylvester McCoy!
It's very natural, demonstrated by the fact that it is observed in all animal species !
gandalf and the doctor in one play
Milking America for all it's glory Ian. Just brilliant!
Yeah an hour of that would ahve been pleasant
He's also an Atheist. Although he did mention God once, which made me confused, he is still an Atheist.
Yes I know and that's what I ment. James Lipton is Honorary "Sir" in France, also. But to be called Sir you'd have to be British.
he looked like donald sutherland
DOCTOR WHO AND GANDALF! XD He says it himself. :) Aw yeah, he's awesome! :)
McKellen = Gandalf
Sirina LOL
Gandalf & Radagast! =D
Craig was right about L.A. not necessarily being kind to actors, or gays either. If you're a highly acclaimed actor whom everyone wants to hire for their show or movie (e.g., Sir Ian McKellen), they're extremely kind (even obsequious) and broadminded.
If you're Charlie the Unknown Actor and/or Gay Person, then society in general is cold and even punitive; they act like a flock of chickens: if they see even a speck of blood, they'll peck you to death.
I want him to be The Doctor. Not the 12th Doctor, but the Doctor that "borrows" a blue box and ran away from Gallifrey with his granddaughter. That Doctor.
RADAGAST AND GANDALF IN A PLAY
And Ian McKellen is pretty cool, too!
*badummtss* =D
Thanks that was very helpful although I've seen interview with Prince Charles and they kept calling him just Sir not Sir Charles or anything else. You can't get more Sir than him but I guess it's a very different thing cause he's real royal.
Are Dames addressed as Dame or Ma'am without their first name? I'd guess that it'd be "Your car is here Dame Helen (Mirren)." Or is it?
0:55 what is the name of the piece ??? can i see it on youtube !! just give me the name of it please !!
what in the world is with the set? And Ian's shoes lol? He's so awesome
his socks are so red i can't tell whether they are really socks or shoes
Did anyone else think it was Morgan Freeman in the thumbnail?
first time i saw gandalf wearing jeans lol
Did I see the 7th Doctor??
lol about the singapore thing, im singaporean and it sucks balls that thats still the law here but its not as dictatory as it sounds, people make waay too big of an issue out of the chewing gum thing and go on to assume that spore is some kind of military state based on that one pithy issue, there Are thriving gay bars/community here and i can definitely say that all of my friends and family would have found his morning show story honkingly funny and been like 'Good on him!', even the christians
MAGNETO FOR PRESIDENT
GANDALF AND RADAGAST!
how the hell did you not know that....really...Really....REALLY..
Jesus, those shoes....
Notlob !!!!
That's great! It's ridiculous that if someone isn't being a insecure gay bashing facist bigot, it's shocking and surprising. It's freaking 2012, it should be considered NORMAL behaviour to support HUMAN rights. When was the very first time someone stood up for human rights? Like the 60's (the hippies) and yet, still decades later it is still being debated on whether it's right or wrong to let people live the way they want. Glad to see there's some people with sense on UA-cam aswell :)
Vocal, certainly, but there plenty of rights movements before he came along.
You shall not paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassss......
Sylvester McCoy, to boot!
(In the clip, I mean)
Not so sure about that. He transforms himself into other people on a regular basis . . .
wow, do you ever need to read up on biology. There is a reason homosexuality occurs.
And you have to British. Or French, they have their own knighthood system.
How is it (logically) clear that homosexuality is not a function of the natural world? This is not self-evident and needs to be explained.
Ian McKellen is GAY???!!!! (nothing against that to make sure I don't confuse anyone, I just never knew that)
u shall not pass
Davis brot me hee
Ye hes gay, and someone told me hes a wizard or something too....part time
But isn't Sir a good and/or correct way (in English) to address an older or somehow superior man to show respect to him. So you could use it more often than needed just to make sure. Of course the military is a totally different thing. But once in the military I was put in a position where I was to be addressed as "Sir" although my rank didn't require it. I couldn't even hold my poker face. I thought it was just silly to be called that.
I love how people that never had any advanced science class always try to sound intelligent by spouting out nonsense
Sir Ian is not really a wizard.
