Ali, never written you before but please never change how you source your reports. You are regarded as the "Gold Standard" for a reason and there is no other journalist who is more trustworthy in their coverage of Spurs. We don't need you to take risks to be first. We love that we can rely on your reporting to give us the truth and nuance of a situation. Thanks for all your work.
Ange convinced Bergvall to choose Spurs over Barcelona, Dragusin to choose Spurs over Bayern, Maddison to choose Spurs over Newcastle, and Tel to choose Spurs over Bayern. GIVE ANGE TIME!
Signings too late and not enough of them. Points lost and more players injured as a consequence. League place worth £3.5m, so pay £4m extra to get Danso at start of the window. We might now be 4 or 5 places higher and prospectively £14m-17m and not relying on winning Europa League to get into Europe.
What makes Alasdair Gold the best football journalist is he doesn't make things up to get views and clicks. The questions he ask is based on caring about the Spurs not trying to bring Spurs into a negative light so he can get clicks. Also very Logical. We as Spurs fan should be very thank full to have a reporter like Mr Gold, Spurs brought in three players who are all game ready and fit the Ange way of playing , sure it was late but Spurs have a history of doing late deals , what matters is Spurs got it done, By the end of Feb i have a feeling the mood will be much much better for all Spurs fans.
Honestly it’s a crime that Ale is not on mainstream TV. There is no other spurs commentator, as connected to the fanbase, eloquent and just an all round decent human as Ale Gold. Please never change man.
I'm too nervous about Thursday's game (this game has been constantly on my mind since the 1st leg) to say something so I will just say : congratulations for what you are doing for Cancer research UK 👏. You've got all my respect, you are a great guy really.
Thanks Ali once again for some sane and intelligent commentary about our beloved club. I should add that your videos are increasingly becoming a refuge for me from the increasingly mad world we seem to be living in. Cheers!
Love the fact you would much rather be right than first Mr Gold. It's why I have followed your stuff since them spurscommunity days. Keep up the quality work.
Thanks, Alasdair for managing to get so much information into your latest video. It has been so hectic around Tottenham in the last couple of days that the Brentford match feels like it was ages ago. The win was a real boost and I totally agree that Djed Spence and Ben Davies were excellent in the game. I cannot understand why so many “fans” on social media are always blaming Spurs’ failings on the fact that they have not sold Davies. He never lets the team down and is showing his worth in helping young players like Gray to develop. I am very pleased that Spurs have got a couple of decent players in during the transfer window, but annoyed that they were unable to get them in earlier so that the players would have had a chance to bed in before the two upcoming cup games. I also feel that the bid for Guehi was merely Levy trying to con the fans that he and Lange were after really big statement signings. If this had been true than surely a bid at the start of the window was the thing to do, not wait until the end. Spurs’ fans are not fools and Levy’s actions were disingenuous as well as cynical. It will not stop the "Levy out" chants.
Slowly the mist is lifting, spurs are building a very good team, stop with the diverging,we have a good passionate manager with a long term vision, don't compare us with others, despite our struggles this season we're still fighting coys
The Ange factor is so big for all of these players who have signed for us. Great to have Tel in. So hope we can kick on now from that great win at Brentford which of course in the mainstream media got overlooked so much. Hope you’re okay Ali after the deadline day yesterday 😂.
I honestly love Ben Davies, not a Hollywood player but will always put on solid performances and step up whenever we need him. He’s reliable and deserves a bit more credit from the fans!
One of the most exciting January deadline days in years . Not bad of a window . Just wish we got them in earlier. Can wait to see tel play . Great video so far coys
So good to have Ben Davies back, felt like the backline was so much more cohesive with him there. His experience and leadership was noticeable, and something we were lacking over the last month. The overall performance against Brentford was very cathartic.
Patience was rewarded this window. Excited for Tel and Danso. Something tells me Tel scores tomorrow at Anfield. Tomorrow really could be a sliding doors moment for the club and Ange. Can't wait!
Great much needed concise talk as ever in this toxic atmosphere in the club is all I I need to listen to, so much negative chat out there with what fans and pundits and experts think, so let’s continue to hold our nerve and hopefully we will progress??COYS!!
Ali we can play all 4 of Spence, Tel, Danso, and Kinsky. You need to read Article 31.13 and 31.14 of UEFA regulations there's a loophole with the goalkeepers. If we only register Vicario and Austin and a youth goalkeeper on the B List. If one of them gets injured we can bring in Kinsky.
Tasty bit of info. Kinsky 110% needs to be left out. Vicario would have to be super unlucky to drop out due to another injury & Austin I’m comfortable as replacement regardless of Kinsky. Due to the inclusion of the other 3 outfield players is essential
i tore my ACL twenty four months ago. unsurprisingly i don’t have the resources for surgery a few days later, but it took me a few weeks to walk properly and still to this day i don’t trust it to run. i always thought it was the injury itself that keeps players out for so long but definitely realising its strength and conditioning after the fact!
More than happy with Kinski, Danso and Tel considering its the January window. Initially not bothered when Tel wanted a loan so turned everyone down but oddly very pleased at getting him. Danso is a very good buy. But give them all the support we can
Thanks for another excellent broadcast, Alasdair! You certainly packed a lot into it! I have learned so much about this amazing sport from you! Much appreciated.
Ali, whenever my wife walks into the room when I’m watching your videos, she always refers to you as old blue eyes. I don’t know what you want to do with that information, but there you go. 😂
After trawling through numerous Spurs pundit channels, it's always a relief to get a thoughtful, factual, and balanced opinion on Spurs from Ali The first rule of journalism - Truth, accuracy, and objectivity 🙂
Yeah, but truth and accuracy was what the journos got by hacking phones! In fairness there should also be a consideration that there is no point in writing anything unless there is someone who would prefer it if you did not: essentially speaking truth to power - which is what journalists should be doing.
@howardsawyer6194 Sorry, but what has this got to do with Spurs and the way the club is being reported and covered by Ali? And, I would bet my mortgage that Ali has never hacked a phone in his life to discover the truth about an injury to one of our players or who is the next big name to sign for the club
Ange has alluded in many press conferences to the fact that he knew the challenge he was going into. I think he of all people knows that he doesn't have a fully functioning squad for his system and that he may never get that, but is willing to embrace that challenge. It's not like Levy's habits or the utter dysfunction of the club were a secret for him coming in to the role. Maybe he had other offers maybe he didn't. Either way, he's still got a chance of winning something due to his managerial quality.
Saw you outside the ground before the match. Genuinely a bit star struck ( I know you’ll laugh at that). Despite our terrible form and smorgasbord of injuries - I had a good feeling about today and seeing you in person, confirmed it. Over the last few months have stripped away my belief that Ange is the right person for the job. But this news exactly what we needed. Whether by design or player bloody mindedness, remains to be seen. Love seeing new players in. They will have no time to gel, could be the making or breaking of them and our season. I’ll try and say hello next time.
Wooo, we did some good stuff (and obviously have our customary terrible thing to balance it out with Radu)! Not a great window but a decent one that got us 3/4 of what we need. I was hoping for this vid today!
About Radu's injury; as someone who's also torn his ACL and had to get surgery; I knew as soon as he sat down after trying to carry on, that it was ligament tear. The weird thing about ACLs especially is that they don't hurt that much when it happens... but you can't run right, you can't move right, at all. His knee twisted awkardly, had a moment of pain, then tried to carry on, took a few halting steps and immediately went back down; I knew right there it was a major knee injury.
"Teams remaining in the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League are allowed to register a maximum of three new eligible players after the completion of the league phase and before the start of the knockout phase."
Let's be real, the window was ok, but waiting till the last day to put in a bid for Guehi that Palace would clearly never accept at that stage was just ridiculous.
As always thank you for this information. Personally dont watch any other spurs related channels. You bring common sense and a reality to the situations! The marathon is going to be a real challenge but that is something you will smash! I totally agree on Danso and Tel they will improve the team and the squad. Those days of signing Raziack, Mido, Saha, Brown, all behind us now with the new data lead systems. I really do think Levy has matured as well seeing him not say goodbye to Ange is welcome and letting him be part of the process of the player recruitment. One thing would love your thoughts is the spurs involvement with Ineos... How does this sit now that they are part owners of Manchester United...
I can see how Ange could have convinced him. He could become a club legend here within the next 4 months if he helps us win a trophy (or more). It takes 10 years to become a legend at Bayern. At Chelsea or United there is nothing he could do to reach legend status in such a short time. It's a massive opportunity and if it goes badly he can just go back to Bayern in the summer
Been a decent week, two wins, and a couple of players brought in. Still can't help but feel like enic tried to mug us off with this ridiculous Marc guehi bid. If they were serious, that's a deal that you do early. Liverpool signed van dijk in the January window, but they did it properly. Got it done early doors, but here's enic trying to take us for idiots. That bid for guehi shows why they're top and we are nowhere
Hi Ali, fantastic work as always. You are such an asset to the spurs community and I hope through your immense modesty you know how truly valued you are. As you are so conscientious regarding player name pronunciations (loved the Tel back and forth!) I’d like to help you out with Yang Min Hyeok. My wife is Korean and we live there at the moment. One of the great things about the alphabet here is that it is phonetic and thus removes a lot of the uncertainty regarding pronunciation. Though this does not make it any easier when the characters are romanised back into English…. Anyway, so Yang and Min you are nailing but for Hyeok the eo represents the short o sound. Ie the o from on, off, or Tottenham! Sometimes the romanisation is incorrectly “Hyuk” which is really misleading. I hope that helps and this is in no way a criticism, more to help as I know how much you care about these things! Keep up the amazing work!
Great gritty result against a good Brentford team. If we’d have shown that type of performance in a good few other games there’s no way we would be sitting in the bottom half
Hi Alasdair, hope you are kicking goals. Great video as usual and a million thanks for mentioning the charisma and personality that is special to Ange. He has got so many good signings over the line by personally talking to the potential signings. Sadly, out "Ange Out" muppets never see this quality. Onward to Anfield...........COYS!!
When we actually get back to our full strength these additions can only help. I really believe we have to focus seriously on the Europa League as it represents our best opportunity of UCL qualification. We have difficult games on Thursday and the Villa in the cup. We could win them yes but I think we have our best opportunity in the Europa League and the prize is the biggest and will effect our transfer potential in the summer window.
Yep, I've had my gripes in recent weeks about the manager, board, etc. But all in all, it's nice to have a good week. Win in the Europa a win in the league, and where we looked more street wise.... plus a couple of signings, may have saved Ange and our season. Let's hope the injuries starve off and the signings look good too.
As always great video Alasdair. In terms of the window we seem to have landed some quality additions, but would have been much better if they had arrived early in the window. Also do feel we need another CB. Towards the end it not only felt that we threw the Lange way out and just started scrambling - but also with the Guehi bid it felt a bit like Levy using the defensive measures that fight jets use - spraying out electronic counter measures to avoid being hit.
The club should come out and call it what it is. A complete rebuild. I’m excited by what they’re doing. Aussies do this with all their teams at the end of their “premiership window” and reset to have a proper chance in the future. It’s a solid plan but hard to perform in the premier league for the obvious reasons like relegation and fan pressure. If the club came out and said, “we’re building a world beating team”, I’m sure the fans would come along for the ride. The use of “the project” Danso referred to solidifies my belief that that is the current plan.
Decent window in the end, the problem is that we have already lost a lot of points in January and been humiliated at home a few times because we can't do deals earlier in the window
@@onkelskrue123 totally agree. I was at the Leicester game. I thought it would be a real struggle, but didn’t really think we would lose. Tough to get back late from Germany and quick turnaround. Almost no bench. Couple of players not 100%. How many times did Ange say he needed help? Dragusin’s ACL is just final blow. He might not even have been playing. We are still short on certain areas and more time in these competitions generates money. Nice if football was given most importance, not boxing and Beyoncé concert, hotel and cinema. Tel, Danso being paid in the summer, so just Tel loan fee and Kinsky. Another cheap window for the balance sheet.
Rodon is not a fullback, doesn’t fit the system, and hasn’t played for us for years. I also don’t think they could recall Phillips, he’s a mainstay in their team.
I read that Tanganga is on the shortlist for Championship player of the season. He is homegrown, club trained, fast and able to play across the back four - would have been a perfect back up right now but alas Ange released him on a free 😕
@@shipit9937 Another mistake. He was a great player at moments in some games, and we needed to believe in him. Of course we fired Vertongen and then Toby Alderweirald left. At the same time they were both stalwarts of the Belgium team, one of the best national teams in the world. They were not, apparently, good enough for us. As a team and a club you can't go on and on making basic mistakes and hope to succeed.
Thanks Ali!.. as you know I always look forward to your updates. It was yet again another frustrating transfer window that I’m sure Ange wanted/needed incomings a lot lot earlier and the club procrastinated on all deals has meant the club sinking like a brick in the league. (In my opinion). I’m not displeased with our signings but also not exactly blown away. Hopefully these new guys will settle in quickly and back a difference…🙏🏼 #coys
I don’t care who influenced him to come to Spurs,be it big Ange,Wilson Odobert or Harry Kane. The main thing is that with the option to buy if he’s no good we can send him back. But if he’s a revelation he’s trapped for another 5 and a half years.COYS.
I don't see either of the new signings starting as it's too much of a risk against Liverpool. As for the transfer window what an absolute joke! Danso probably wasn't even on the radar until Radu got injured and "oh look there's a deal for a central Defender over there, let's have a look", then they go and hijack Wolves deal which says he was never on the radar anyway otherwise we'd have got in first and done that deal a lot sooner. Tel joined us because he had no where else left to go! It was either Spurs or sit on the bench! I'm glad we at least did something but it was too little too late and I hope Danso and Tel do start well but what we needed were battle hardened players who we could just chuck straight in knowing they'd do a job. Left back issue still isn't resolved and even though we have a hatful of midfielders not one of them is leader in the middle. Maybe Bentancur could be that player soon and we all know Swiss Army Gray will definitely become that player but we desperately need a BIG player in the centre of the park to marshall the troops, scream, yell and lead us into battle. It's better than nothing but it does smack of opportunity and desperation rather than any actual planning. Considering they knew what was needed weeks before the window opened it was sheer negligence not sorting it out immediately.
Not enough business. Not done early enough. More injuries as a consequence. Tel and Danso make it better, but still very short at left back and centre back, especially with Dragusin out long term now. Midfield is short of passing quality for me. Will be interesting to see if Tel can play on the wings as seems he is more of a striker. A lot of bright performances on Sunday, but Richarlison was well below what we need. We need to move him on in the summer and get back what we can. Staying fit or performing he has let us down in nearly his whole spell.
Nice to hear from you! None of my regular podcasts have posted since last week, and I've been dying to hear some discussion of the past week's activities! I'm looking forward to seeing these new players in action and perhaps seeing Gray, Son, Kulusevski et al taking the occasional bit of rest!
Another great video. Danso looks like a beast and I think we need someone like that. Maybe he is like Murillo for Forest. Hope he can help us out at the back until we get VDV and Romero back. Tel, I am not so sure about, yes he is talented but once again not proven in the Premier League. He will have to get used to the physicality, but Kane thinks he will do well and that is enough for me. Let's hope we beat both Liverpool and Aston Villa to reach Wembley and the next round of the FA Cup. It would make our league worries not so bad after all. Next in the league is Man Utd and I think if we win that and go above them, then the back of the end will look better. COYS TTID IBAWT
Think Spence danso and Tel have to be in the European squad so Kinsky will have to miss out. I'd give him a lot of league games though if we're still in Europe late in the season. Dragusin Forster Werner to miss out.
I think in the end the transfer window was pretty good. I watched lange's video and they clearly struggled. However, I can't help thinking that if they slapped £70m down for Guehi on Jan 1st they may have got him. I think it's a big summer for the club as they need to make some big signings early for Ange to give the team the best chance heading into next season. Fingers crossed for Thursday. Everyone has written us off - hope we prove them all wrong
If Micky is injured again and obviously Dragusin has an ACL it is absolutely negligent that they didn't sign another centre back! They will have sold another manager down the river.....
Finally, a no sigh Ali video. 😊Tel might be young, but he's very much for the now. I've watched him quite a lot, and it really seemed he just needs playing time to come on leaps and bounds. He was obviously not gonna get that under Kompany, who didn't seem to fancy him at all.
Another good video mate 3 out of 10 window like the signings but too late and a defender short we had defender issues before radu injury ange said dom needed help before he got injured we defended well on Sunday Spence mom
Cue our fanbase to overhype Tel before he’s played and all the “Levy out” chants to stop because we signed a fairly unknown CB and a teenager who Bayern didn’t want anymore. Meanwhile the PR of bidding for Guehi on the last day makes it look like we’re serious. Now Levy can say “We tried”.

The bid only came out on the last day, it’s was placed before. Stop believing all the media narratives
The cynic in me wonders if Levy did it knowing the offer would be turned down, just so he can say “see? I was ready to splash out”
Ali The players seemed to be pulling together for the Brentford game all on the same page. Thanks Ali. GOLD GOLD GOLD.
Been waiting for this
As always, thanks Ali for the coverage. Delighted about the incomings. COYS!
Epitome of the Ali Gold experience: no issue pronouncing 10 letter Kulusevski but can’t handle 3 letter Tel
Pretty much.
Love it Ali!! Thanks for the in depth update, nothing beats it
Hi Ali, fantastic work as always.
Nice to see you less exasperated at the start of a video. First time for a while! :P
Nice one Ali - let's hope for a better second half of the season!
I am quite excited about this Danso fella
When we actually get back to our full strength these additions can only help. I really believe we have to focus seriously on the Europa League as it represents our best opportunity of UCL qualification.
We have difficult games on Thursday and the Villa in the cup.
We could win them yes but I think we have our best opportunity in the Europa League and the prize is the biggest and will effect our transfer potential in the summer window.
Been waiting all day for this video 👍
Excellent as always! Liking the T-Shirt.
You are not wrong Ali future looks great yang looked good on debut for QPR too
Ali, the confusion with the name pronunciation is the first name - Mathys should be more like "Mateece", rather than Mathias.
Why don't we get Ashley Philips back from his loan? And why did we let Joe Rodin go if we need full backs so urgently? Poor management decisions.
Rodon is not a fullback, doesn’t fit the system, and hasn’t played for us for years. I also don’t think they could recall Phillips, he’s a mainstay in their team.
@@EvanGeorgeR Roden is listed as a full back on his own website. Philips may be unavailable. But my point is they were both our players at one time.
Hopefully these new guys will settle in quickly and back a difference…🙏🏼
#coys
Another window where Spurs signed an Austrian CB named Kevin and a young french winger... hopefully this time it'll be more successfull
Hi Alasdair thanks for the big update very informative as always thanks for all your hard work take care stay safe
I don’t care who influenced him to come to Spurs,be it big Ange,Wilson Odobert or Harry Kane. The main thing is that with the option to buy if he’s no good we can send him back. But if he’s a revelation he’s trapped for another 5 and a half years.COYS.
no, he has to agree to the option - both sides need to agree
Great Scott! Thanks Ali, great vid!
Tonight’s viewing after tea. I just want VDV to be fit 🤞🏻. Thanks Ally
Odobert, Tel, Solanke with Son, Richy, and Johnson off the bench makes the mouth water a bit
We get warned at the start about a super long video and only get 70 minutes, I'm disappointed Ali 😁
Great update Alasdair, good window for me...but if we lose the next two games, will Ange be safe in his job...I hope so...but I would be worried.
Happy with our signings. But we are still one injury away from a crisis at centre back.
Think Spence danso and Tel have to be in the European squad so Kinsky will have to miss out. I'd give him a lot of league games though if we're still in Europe late in the season. Dragusin Forster Werner to miss out.
Lankashear went on loan
Dragusin is out for season anyway
I think in the end the transfer window was pretty good. I watched lange's video and they clearly struggled. However, I can't help thinking that if they slapped £70m down for Guehi on Jan 1st they may have got him.
I think it's a big summer for the club as they need to make some big signings early for Ange to give the team the best chance heading into next season.
Fingers crossed for Thursday. Everyone has written us off - hope we prove them all wrong
Ali. Your funny with these clips. Love em.
Thanks, Ali! Great video. COYS!
The double sourcing is appreciated.
Don’t think we didn’t see the subtle hint that Timo’s going MLS haha
Wow that’s was a big one!!! But still very good 👏👏👏👏
Another good video mate 3 out of 10 window like the signings but too late and a defender short we had defender issues before radu injury ange said dom needed help before he got injured we defended well on Sunday Spence mom
Where is Scott Munn in the process of transfers, and standing up in front of press to support Ange?
Why is the Lange update not a presser ?
Good update on all the never ending trials and tribulations at Tottenham .
