My first job out of high school was at the Argo plant in 1981. There was one man who built every Argo transmission since they started in the late 60's. I was being groomed to take over his place as he was set to retire. I built about about 50 of them when the recession of '83 came along and wiped me out (low seniority). BUT.. I just picked up a project Argo yesterday (1976 version) so I'll be splashing about too before too long! Cheers from Ontario.
I have a Max 6wd UTV from the 80’s. I have to place two drain plugs in the bottom whenever I took it in water. But when your came out of the lake the first time and all the water drained out of the tub it was a bloody miracle it did not sink in the lake. The water is hard on everything in the tub. I’m baffled as to how it was able to cross the lake with out sinking. But this series was an outstanding rebuild. Well done!

We have the same Model and Year Suburban has u. It's been in my family since my Aunt brought it brand new. And both heater and a.c. in the front and back still work's excellent. Only thing i did was replaced the factory stereo to a pioneer cd player with bluetooth. And the kid's likes it cause they can sleep in the back when we go on road trip's. And we have put over allot and i do mean allot of miles on it. The motor and transmission are otiginal both has been rebuilt several times. When i got it i had a friend of mine tint the window's. And it had a tailgate door. But i had that removed and installed barndoor's which work's better. My Aunt was like wow never did know u could do that and i said yeah u can easy to install. I had people make me offer's on it and nope it's not for sale. Will remain in my family until it's not drivable anymore. That's a good trade u and Finnigian did.I have done allot of good trades and my wife was like how u manage to get that thing i said traded it for this and that when i kinda did trades for thing's.

I`ve owned both an 8 and 6 wheel Argo. Hated the 8 wheeler, so hard to turn and big and cumbersome I sold it. The 6 wheeler is like a little hot rod and turns on a dime no effort even on pavement. I still have the 6 wheeler.
Not 100% certain but them tires are worn new ones would probably tread water better

I am about to do a total rebuild on my machine, and considering the larger Kohler, I think the
Argo Titan is the factory unit that uses the bigger engine, but I am willing to give it a try !
Has anyone ever tried to install the bigger 31hp. on this model 8x8 ?
I have a Max VI 6x6 that is close to an argo and I'm pretty sure that you can put that 31hp engine on it
